    So talented!

by Sandycsr on 12/10/13Valley Performing Arts Center - Northridge

Brian Stokes Mitchell is just wonderful. An amazing voice, charming, charismatic. Great show and I'd go again in a minute, but he didn't sing anything from "Ragtime," which is where I discovered him. That was very disappointing, as his "Wheels of a Dream" with Audra McDonald is unforgettable.

    An Evening of Beautiful Music

by CarlyT28 on 12/10/13Valley Performing Arts Center - Northridge

Brian Stokes Mitchell didn't just put on a musical concert, he presented a Theatrical Event. A complete emotional experience where he presented many iconic characters from Broadways magnificent catalogue and had them literally come to life on the stage. Not only is his voice an instrument of perfection, his rich baritone filling the auditorium, but he is such a wonderful Actor that he takes his audience with him on a musical journey.....a ride you're happy to go on with him. The concert was exciting, fun, and at times electrifying....and all this with just one piano accompanying him. One amazing pianist and one extraordinary performer. A fantastic evening of music.

What a talented singer, performer, storyteller and actor. It was all Mr. Mitchell as he was accompanied by a talented pianist. Mr. Mitchell performed each song, inhabiting the characters that sang the songs. He was incredible, just incredible.

    Outstanding performance

by Travlink on 12/10/13Valley Performing Arts Center - Northridge

My only complaint is that the concert should be longer. It was great to hear Brian sing live.

    A magical evening

by TJMF on 7/11/13Town Hall - New York

We were thrilled that BSM's concert schedule and ours connected! We have been fans of his since he starred in "Kiss Me Kate" and try to get to as many of his venues as possible. This time did not disappoint-not only is his voice terrifically rich, but also he connects with the audience from the start.

Stokes at the top of his form

by catsclaw on 7/11/13Town Hall - New York

The evening at Town Hall was unforgettable. Brian Stokes Mitchell was in fine form, with only a piano to accompany him. His voice is unquestionably one of the finest to be heard. But he also acted out the parts he was singing, showing his incredible versatility. He exuded charm and charisma, and simply delighted the audience. I've seen him perform a number of times, and this one was quite special.

Brian Stokes Mitchell at The Town Hall

by FANCLASS1969 on 7/11/13Town Hall - New York

From the opening moments at his concert on Monday, I was riveted to the performance of Brian Stokes Mitchell. His wonderful voice and interpretation of every selection were outstanding. When it comes to musical theater, there really is no other performer I'd rather listen to. He is captivating.

    "Finishing the Hat?"

by overture on 7/11/13Town Hall - New York

Even though I'm familiar with the shows Mr. Mitchell celebrated, it's very difficult to take a song out of context, such as "Finishing the Hat," and make it a winning performance. As much as I admire Stephen Sondheim, he's not Cole Porter or Rodgers & Hart. I wish Mr. Mitchell had been more "popular." I came with a friend who is not a Broadway devotee, and he was disappointed--not with Mr. Mitchell's glorious voice but by the selection of material. Many of the lyrics were puzzling to him. I know artists like to do this, to present themselves in new and different ways. But a more traditional arrangement of "Some Enchanted Evening" would have been welcome.

    Unforgettable

by OliveU on 10/31/11Tilles Center Concert Hall - Greenvale

I am an 18 year old girl who just happened to stumble upon this amazing talent one night when I decided I did not want to go to sleep. I turned on the television around one in the morning and The 2005 Carnegie Hall performance of South Pacific was on and before I knew it I was mesmerized and fell in love with Brian Stokes Mitchell. After that I looked up everything I could about him and listened to probably almost all of his songs, those I could find on Youtube anyway, I even went out and brought the Carnegie Hall Concert version of South Pacific. This concert was a special and amazing night for me, probably one of the greatest moments of my life, I never thought I would get the chance to see him perform live, he is such an amazingly talented person, and very funny, I enjoyed every song he sang. Being able to hear "The Impossible Dream" and "Wheels of a Dream" live was breathtaking. It was truly an unforgettable experience that will take with me forever.

    Brian Stokes Mitchell is amazing!!!

by StokesFan on 10/31/11Tilles Center Concert Hall - Greenvale

This concert was the BEST! Brian Stokes Mitchell has one of the most magnificent voices in the world today. The concert had something for everyone--jazz, standards, show tunes and more. Of course he sang his signature songs from the musicals he has appeared in, which were my favorite part of the concert. His "This Nearly Was Mine" was not only beautifully sung but also extremely moving. He not only sings a song, but acts it as well. He is the ultimate performer.. Stokes' comments made the songs even more meaningful. The musicians were all very talented as well, especially the pianist who added so much to the songs You couldn't ask for a better evening's entertainment.

Truly is the last leading man on Broadway!

by SingerL on 10/30/11Tilles Center Concert Hall - Greenvale

BSM can do it all- from jazz to Broadway. His command of a stage is breathtaking and his ability to become the characters he portrays is astounding. The timbre of his voice pierces my heart. What else is there to say? There are not many performers like Mr. Mitchell- it was an evening I will remember.
