Brett Dennen is a modern day troubadour with one foot tapping to the tradition of Woody Guthrie and the other foot in step with his social and political convictions. In 2013 he released his fifth studio album Smoke and Mirrors, which was recorded in Nashville and produced the widely acclaimed hit "Wild Child." His voice carries a unique quality that draws listeners in by being simultaneously at home in the music yet tinged with a hint of urgency. A ticket to a Brett Dennen concert will put you face to face with a songwriter who is determined to deliver an energetic, positive and uplifting performance. His ability to do just that has landed him opening slots for John Mayer, Sheryl Crow and David Matthews. His recent hit song has joined the ranks of many of his other fan favorites that inspire crowds to sing along with his performance.
Dennen began improvising songs around the campfire as a teen which eventually led to gigging, recording and the release of his self-titled first album in 2004. His second album, So Much More followed in 2006 and his third album, Hope for the Hopeless debuted at No. 41 on the Billboard Top 200 in 2008. His 2011 album, Loverboy debuted at No. 55 and featured the radio-hit single "Comeback Kid (That's My Dog)." In addition to radio play, Dennen's songs have graced the television airwaves on episodes of Parenthood, Grey's Anatomy and American Idol. He has an impressive 2014 tour schedule with dates booked in the U.S., Ireland, Scotland, the UK and Holland. This down-to-earth guy is now bringing his message to many parts of the globe, and maybe someday to the whole world.

He really got the crowd going by swinging his hips and playing original songs along with some great 80s covers.

Brett's voice was awesome and his low key attitude made the show really enjoyable. The venue was sub par- crowded and the acoustics weren't that great, but the music itself was highly recommended.

It was overcrowded and you couldn't even see the artists. I also get frustrated waiting a half an hour between bands and having an opener to an opener...just was so late before Brett started. But he was great!

I found the volume to Grace a little loud as she has a tremendous visceral voice and she blew past the amplification. Dennen was refreshingly quirky, passionate, and prophetic. He just makes me smile.

Sounds of Van Morrison, and moves like Mick Jagger. He was very entertaining !! When we came back home we looked him up online... his picture does not do him justice. Whoever styled him, let them know that it worked!!

He's a great artist and puts on an great show. He's very sexy and I loved the way he moved his hips when he danced! I can't wait for him to come to Portland again. I will definitely be at his concert.

The venue was not comfortable for a short woman. I could not see, and could not move to a place where I could enjoy the concert. Both the alcohol free area and the other for over 21 were crowded which was expected. I did not expect to be unable to see from anywhere. I will go to concerts at other places only - sorry Chrystal Ballroom, you are OUT!

Brett was fan-freakin-tastic, addressed the issue of something beyond himself to the Crowd with the (Red) cause. He is a real musician who enjoys hie music as much as everyone else. Great preformer, loved the facial expressions and dancing. A+

Grace has an amazing voice and the band is all talented musicians. Then Brett came on with his genuine unique voice and crazy dancing. He sang all my favorite songs. The concert was perfect and I will forever be a Brett fan. :)
