About

Brent Faiyaz on Tour

Brent Faiyaz is a thoroughly contemporary R&B star, as interested in the complexities of modern romance as he is the inner workings of the soul, and frequently operating outside the boundaries of any one genre. But he's old-school when it comes to performance. The man's voice is powerfully crisp and emotive whether he's hitting falsettos over a hazy beat or (more often) the live grooves of his three-piece band or a single acoustic guitar. It's easy to see why the Maryland native draws comparisons to '90s R&B stars like Ginuwine, or Slim from 112. And as heard on both his solo albums and especially his work with the trio Sonder (rounded out by producers Dpat and Atu), he's also drawn to the type of lush and percussive beats that Timbaland pioneered. But whether he's singing the hook on GoldLink's Grammy-nominated "Crew" (featured in HBO's Insecure) or stretching out across the 10 tracks of his boldly inventive 2020 album F*ck the World, Faiyaz is also clearly drawn to the woozy, vibey and sometimes introverted feel of auteurs like the Weeknd, Frank Ocean and Miguel.

Brent Faiyaz in Concert

Brent Faiyaz was born in Baltimore-adjacent Columbia, Maryland. Though he was solidly a hip-hop head as a kid, his older brother soon put him onto '90s R&B acts, effectively sealing his fate. His obsession with Jodeci grew even as Faiyaz began making beats and recording raps in his room, almost in defiance of his natural gift for melody. At last, a would-be manager told him what he needed to hear — "just sing" — and Faiyaz shifted gears. He realized that he didn't have to embrace a prepackaged R&B image to succeed as a singer. In 2014, he shared the bracingly vivid and cinematic "Natural Release" on SoundCloud. Around the same time, he quit his grocery store job and spent his tax return to make it to Los Angeles. It proved to be a smart gamble, as a series of singles soon evolved into his hotly tipped A.M. Paradox EP (2016) and roundly celebrated, increasingly personal Sonder Son album (2017), recorded during a monthlong stay in his father's native Domincan Republic. While Faiyaz took some worthy detours — appearing on GoldLink's "Crew," Juice WRLD's Death Race for Love and a handful of Sonder releases — he saved his strongest statement for 2020's F*ck the World which, despite the title, felt deeply warm, inviting, vulnerable and imaginative.

    Anticipation

by Keeks on 12/9/23YouTube Theater - Inglewood

It was a good show, just really short. I felt like he had just started singing and it was over before I knew it.

    Love!!

    by Sharyheece on 12/9/23

Despite Brent being an hour and fifteen minutes late, it was really worth the wait. I went to the 12/06/23 show because the 9/15/23 show was cancelled last minute. So, I waited three months to see Brent. So happy I didn't sell my tickets, Brent is amazing. Let me tell you, that mic was ON! Would love to see him again on tour.

    Enjoyed Myself

    by Carmen M on 12/8/23

12/06/2023 Brent’s vocals are very strong live! YouTube theater is a great venue to see and hear your favorite performer. My only critique is Brent had us waiting an hour and a half for him to hit the stage. But, once he started it was non stop hit after hit!

    good but bad

    by l. h. on 9/24/23

I say he sounds exactly how he sings in his songs but his stage presence is not the best , I suggest no one to get general admission it was the WORST and never again .

    A vibe

by Brent Baby Momma on 9/9/23The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas - Las Vegas

As soon as you walk into the arena, it’s a whole vibe. 90s music played before performance was very on brand,Brents voice was smooth and seductive. Dressed in all black, he looked delicious and I guarantee he smelled immaculate. Next time have a meet and greet with fans please Mr.Faiyaz

    7.5/10

by Betin on 9/6/23The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas - Las Vegas

Brent Faiyaz as a performer is phenomenal. Decent stage presence but he carries such a great singing voice. Whoever, this concert felt very rushed. It only last about an hour. Didn’t even make the full hour he was done in 58 minutes. Felt like he jumped from song to song with no stories, crowd interaction, or engagement. It felt like he was trying to run through the songs as fast possible so he could get the other half of his check and go to the next city. I’ve been a fan of his for the past 3hrs and I’m honestly disappointed in how little of an interaction he had with his fans as well has the subpar stage design. All in all if you’re going for theatrics this isn’t the show for you but if you just want to hear someone sound exactly how they sound in their songs live then this is the place for you. Overall, it was Ight. Nothing special or crazy just a concert for a lack of better times. Also I want to say Drake came to Vegas Friday and Saturday. Brent played Sunday. Drake gave away a purse and 50k in cash to a fan and Brent gave away a towel he used to wipe off his sweat. I’m not saying give out money but the fact that he didn’t take pictures with people who sign people’s stuff like vinyls and posters is kind of sad.

    I ❤️ Brent

    by Desiree on 9/5/23

This was one of the best concerts I went too. He is extremely talented vocally and I can’t wait to see him again! The show was one to remember. Going to see him for was like a wish come true so I was overzealous about the whole thing. If you like him and wanna see him I recommend 110%

    Amazing vocals horrible crowd

by CJ on 9/4/23Fox Theater - Oakland - Oakland

Brent faiyaz is an amazing performer but his crowd was awful there were people throwing up and passing out left and right and the girls were desperately trying to elbow their way to the front it was horrible there were also people shouting his lyrics to all his tiktoks songs and it sucked because we came to hear him the crowd was drunk and not doing well. Maybe it was just the show I went to and the crowd just happened to be particularly bad but I’d seen him earlier this year and everyone was chill and vibing. Really disappointing because I was looking forward to this show the most.

    Wasn’t what I expected..

    by Gabby on 8/27/23

I want to start off with waiting in line about 2 hours before the concert, this venue was ready to attend anyone in the heat of 100’+. Doors were said to open at 6:30pm but opened at 7. Going through security id say went pretty good. Finally getting inside we weren’t really directed on where to go towards it’s more of you finally get in and have to just find someone to help you around the venue. Okay so now for the waiting game before Brent Faiyaz actually performed was okay. They were trying to be aware of everything and everyone and giving out water cups due to it starting to get packed + hot. Once we finally got close to performance time it became more intense.. I had to be prepared for people to start pushing and being crazy for him. I understand how concert go absolutely but having no way to even get out of the pit any time during the concert was the problem. Security was not even worried about anyone in the crowd once the concert began to be able to help anyone find their way out to go grab a snack , a drink or use the restroom. Once the event came close to an end I just felt the venue lacked security and assisting people for safety reasons. To close of this review , getting out of the venues parking lot was horrible !!! Took about 2hrs just to get out of the parking lot , no one directed traffic to be able to get out in a better timed manner.

    Amazing

    by Arrogantnae on 8/26/23

Amazing show overall, just wish there were signs for each line I sat in the GA line for a long time before I was told that the VIP line was on the other side of the building. also wish that if you went to the restroom you would get your standing spot back we didn’t pay for vip just to go to the restroom and get stuck alllll the way in the back. but other than that I was so happy that the AC was on and it wasn’t hot they handed out water which was a plus

    Very good show but…

    by Chey on 8/26/23

The performance itself was great…the pieces we got to see peacefully. The general admission section was full of people passing out or over heating. It’s possible the show was oversold but Brent had to keep pausing the show because of all these people which honestly completely interrupted our experience as a whole. The venue was cute, the line for merch was outrageous and had no real order to it. Other than the heat and the merch line I would say I had an overall ok experience

    Talented artist

    by Mrs.Faiyaz on 8/26/23

I absolutely loved everything about Brent’s performance! I love him, his vocals, his energy, literally EVERYTHING! I just wish he would do a meet and greet for those who paid for VIP, that’s my only complaint when it comes to him. Still love him a lot tho 🦋

    Good

    by M. on 8/26/23

His concert was pretty good. He started an hour late and his performance was really short. The only songs he performs are from his last two albums, so don’t expect sonder or any of his early singles.

    Great Show

    by BB on 8/20/23

Show was great! He just makes you wait a long time for the show to start his opening act and his act was 1 hour 20 minutes apart. I didn’t receive anything that came with my ticket. There’s no vip. General admission and Platinum tickets are the same.
