About

‘The physics of vulnerability is simple. If we are brave enough often enough, we will fall’

– Brene Brown

When we deny our stories, they define us.

When we own our stories, we get to write the ending.

In a rare visit to Australia, Brené Brown will draw on her personal experience and research to present a powerful process to help rise from our falls, overcome our mistakes, and face hurt in a way that brings more wisdom and wholeheartedness into our lives. A research professor at the University of Houston Graduate School of Social Work, Brené has spent the past thirteen years studying vulnerability, courage, worthiness and shame. She has interviewed artists and military leaders, teachers, parents and CEOs, and discovered what it takes to lean into discomfort and vulnerability in the service of being brave.

Whether our stories of struggle are as big as the loss of a job or the end of a relationship, or day-to-day conflicts with relatives or friends, the process of rising strong after a fall are the same. As Brené explains, ‘When we deny our stories and disengage from tough emotions, they don’t go away – they own us, then they define us. Our job is not to deny the story, but to defy the ending – to rise strong, reckon with our story and rumble with the truth until we get to a place where we think, yes. This is what happened. This is my truth. And I will choose how this story ends.’ In this event you’ll discover how to live this process, and create nothing less than a revolution.

Please note that this event will be photographed.

The event includes Auslan interpretation.
