So everyone know how talented Branford is and how he is known world-wide. What you may not know is that he has assembled the most talented jazz musicians to work with him. Fantastic show!!!
I saw them a little over 4 years ago and they were awesome! Numerous songs and everything seemed tight. This performance seemed dis-jointed and had much fewer songs that seemed to be extended jam sessions.
Having been introduced to memorable jazz in my late teens and early twenties, a collection of various artists remain inspirational. Venues such as CCNY's Lewisohn Stadium, NYC Central Parks' Wollman Rink and the then iconic "Across 110th Street"at Harlem Meer run by veterans, Lincoln Center, Jazz in the Valley in Poughkeepsie NY to the intimate NYC Village Gate(upstairs & downstairs) and various community and residential spaces provided then and now my jazz appreciation. As a septuagenarian, it just doesn't get any better. My wife and I were fortunate to catch the Quartet's performance at Count Basie Center for the Arts at Red Bank. Needless to say it didn't disappoint!!!
Entering the beautiful venue was seamless. We have our proof of vaccine on our iPhone. Our seats were fabulous and so was The Branford Marsalis quartet. The almost two hours went by too quickly
Played for 95-100 minutes including a 2 song encore. What musical knowledge, all played out perfectly. Perfectly..
Aside from the ticket cost, I am very unhappy at Ticketmaster's charging for everything beyond the basic ticket cost. From 'convenience charges, to printing,' by the time you are done, there are is an additional $35- $50 in costs for a pair of tickets. And you haven't entered yet. Although " Masks required," was clearly stated, some did not wear them and had to be told. Then there were those who wear them improperly, UNDER their noses, doing nothing. And we were all seated shoulder to shoulder. I won't be doing this again.
Brandford and his group were perfectly miked. A swinging time was had by all.

Branford Marsalis Quartet were unbelievable. A high energy set at the incredible Soraya. Such beautiful interpretations of classic jazz standards from the 20s and 30s. I highly recommend for any music lover. Live music is back. I hope they return to the Soraya again soon!
The entire quartet, collectively as well as individually, was on fire! Brilliant night of music that was absolutely so far beyond any expectations for a great musical experience that I am at a loss for describing it in words.

Branford led and the musicians took off! Each performer showed exceptional skill and the blend of musicality was phenomenal!
Great night. Quartet was everything you could ask for in a concert.
Tight arrangements, engaging solos. The Branford Marsalis Quartet kept it interesting throughout. The Count Basie Theater is one of my favorite venues also, but they ought to have more jazz acts in keeping with the name.
So excited to see Branford Marsalis in person. I get excited by hearing the name Marsalis musical greatness comes to mind. That greatness was witnessed when the audience heard so much original music live. I’m more into Smooth Jazz, but Friday night with Branford caused me to appreciate the true Jazz sound!
Real jazz in a real concert hall, right here in Cincinnati. It was an excellent performance. All members of the group were in top form. My 9 year old granddaughter liked it as much as I did!
The entire experience was good. The music was top notch. It was a very nice evening for my wife and I. The staff at the Taft Theater were very nice and helpful. I want to see Branford again. His band of cats grooved all evening and were in the pocket for sure. The drummer blew me away with his energy. Totally an awesome experience!
This treat was for my son (12) as a way of inspiration and motivation as he plays the saxophone at school. Branford did the magic!!!!!! He and my husband absolutely loved the performance and enjoyed the 2 hrs without realizing it!!!
The musicianship of all the artists is of superior quality. So much energy and they left us wishing that the session could go on, and on.
Really enjoyed the show. Would have given 5 stars but the three flights of stairs to the balcony was very difficult.
