About

Forming in 2000 on Long Island, New York, Brand New is an alternative-punk band consisting of Jesse Lacey on vocals and guitars, Vincent Accardi on guitars and vocals, Garrett Tierney on bass, and Brian Lane on drums. They signed to Triple Crown Records and released their debut album Your Favorite Weapon in 2001, full of emotional angst and ex-girlfriend tales, before touring with the emo Dashboard Confessional, post-hardcore acts Finch and Glassjaw, alt-rock Midtown, and pop-punk bands New Found Glory and Taking Back Sunday. Their sophomore album Deja Entendu came out in 2003, featuring the singles “The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows” and “Sic Transit Gloria... Glory Fades”, and a matured sound that became a certified gold album in the US. Derrick Sherman joined the band on guitars and keys in 2005, and the band signed with Interscope Records to release their third album The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me in 2006. Its hit Jesus became their highest charting single in the United States. In 2009, they put out their fourth album Daisy, their most successful effort to date, reaching number six on the Billboard 200. They are currently working on their fifth studio album, and will play concerts in December 2013 on the east and west coasts where they will perform two albums in their entirety for ticket holders each night.

Brand New is a MUST see band.

by Kale on 7/9/09Magic Stick - Detroit

I went into the event with a mediocre attitude about the venue, but as soon as the band started the venue could have been the back alley of a dirty TGI Fridays. The band's chemistry was phenomenal. If you are a fan of music at all, you must see this band before you die. I have been to upwards of 100 concerts on my life, but i can honestly, say that Brand New put on the best live show i have ever seen.

    Brand New at its Finest

by PlayTheCharade on 7/9/09Magic Stick - Detroit

There are phases for band fame. Theres the garage phase, local show phase, larger local shows, out of state shows, agent discovery, country wide tours, then worldwide. Brand New has hit worldwide, with various shows across the pond this summer. But here they are, an acclaimed band like Brand New taking time to hit up venues that hold around 250-500 people. Shows like these are rare, especially when the band has hit their kind of fame. And so, when somebody says that this is a chance of a lifetime, its a chance of a lifetime. Take it. Im glad I did, because they tore it up. Magic Stick is a fairly intimate venue (so much so that if I tossed a rock at them, they wouldve been able to pick me out of the crowd), so when they hit the stage with songs like "You Won't Know" and "The Archers Bows Have Broken," you feel it. All over the place, you arent safe from the wrath of the music because it will grab you, hold you, and own you. You end up either standing dumbstruck with your jaw on the floor or swaying with the current of the crowd singing, headbobbing or arm pumping like theres no tomorrow. I was somewhere in the middle of that. The guys are really down to earth and passionate when they play. The energy they have was literally making a sea of the people up front. A note about the very front, the stage only comes up to about your knee, so those who were up front had major balls to stand the push of 500 people on your shin/knee. Funny thing is that Jesse noted midshow that it was mostly girls in the front. I can go on for pages but bottom line: Amazing show. Would give an arm and a leg to see it again. You cant beat a band like Brand New in a venue like the Magic Stick.

    Keeps getting better!

by Meliss on 7/9/09Magic Stick - Detroit

The first time I saw Brand New, it was in a large concert hall, and I had balcony seats. This time I saw them in a smaller place and I was right up front almost, and it was one of the best shows I have ever been to. If you get the chance, I definetely recommend seeing them!

Awesome, intimate show by Brand New

by ateresac on 7/9/09Magic Stick - Detroit

What an amazing venue for Brand New to play at. It was such an intimate setting. I saw them at The Fillmore two years ago and I could barely see. This time, I was five feet away from Jesse. Even though I couldn't breathe, lost my flip flops, and was shoved around quite a bit; it was well worth it! They did end their show pretty abruptly which left concert-goers a littled bummed. No encore and a half-assed "thank you" was a little rude I thought. Good show overall though.

The most intimate, awesome concert ever!

by Grimace on 7/9/09Magic Stick - Detroit

Brand New at the Magic Stick was awesome. They could have sold way more tickets, but kept it intimate. The also could have played a larger venue, but they kept it small and personal. Great sound and they played everything!
