Magical
Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary
I loved everything about that performance, the music, choreography and dances. I am a big Botero’s art lover and was very curious about what it would look like. It didn’t disappoint. There was also an amazing vibe in the audience, something that doesn’t happen too often.

Botero was AMAZING
Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton
Such a wonderful performance with great costumes, dancers and story. A very innovative way to introduce both the painter and his paintings as well as the choreography from Columbia. I hope this ballet tours to other Canadian cities.

Unique Performance
Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton
I very much enjoyed the Botero ballet at the Jubilee Auditorium. It was fresh, new, and unusual. I love contemporary ballet. The portrayal of different aspects of Botero’s works of art through the ages was interesting, as was the use of frames throughout the ballet. The dancers were amazing as was the music and set design. I highly recommend it.

Would like to see more ballet events. Like American Balket Theatre, Russian, and Royal Winnipeg Ballet
Inspired by the life and distinctly recognizable style of painter Fernando Botero, renowned Colombian-Belgian choreographer Annabelle Lopez Ochoa celebrates Botero's work in movement.
Two years after she premiered this one-act work in Colombia, Annabelle will bring her narrative creativity and innovative vision to Alberta Ballet's studios where she will expand the concept into a full-length ballet.
"The juxtaposition of dance and Botero's style is elegant, playful and unexpected. Annabelle and her team created something truly inspired, and it's an honour to support the expansion of BOTERO."
--CHRISTOPHER ANDERSON
This world premiere promises to be whimsical and prodigious, an experience of dance that is as unique as Botero's voluminous subjects.
