Boston Bruins History

Established in 1924, the Boston Bruins were the first American team to join the NHL(Opens in new tab). They won their first of six Stanley Cup championships in just their fifth season in 1929, defeating the defending champions New York Rangers. It was the first Stanley Cup championship to feature two U.S. teams. The Bruins added championships in 1939 and 1941, and between 1943 and 1958 they reached the final five more times.

After the arrival of future Hall of Famers Bobby Orr (a three-time MVP) and Phil Esposito (one of the greatest goal-scorers of all time and the first player to score 100 points in a season), the Bruins won Stanley Cup Championships in 1970 and 1972. The image of Orr flying through the air after scoring "The Goal" in overtime to defeat the St. Louis Blues in 1970 is one of the most memorable in hockey history.

On April 9, 2023, the Bruins beat the Philadelphia Flyers 5-3, marking their 63rd win of the season and setting a new NHL record for the most single-season wins. They made history again on April 12 when they reached 133 points scored in a single season thanks to a 5-2 win over the Washington Capitals, besting the 1976-77 Montreal Canadiens for the NHL team with the most points scored in a single season.

Twenty-nine straight appearances in the Playoffs followed — a record among all professional sports — including Stanley Cup Final appearances in 1974, 1977–1978, 1988, and 1990.

After a two-decade absence, the Bruins returned to the Stanley Cup Final in 2011, defeating the Vancouver Canucks in a thrilling seven-game series behind the goaltending of Tim Thomas. To date, the Bruins have made 20 appearances in the Stanley Cup Final, including most recently in 2019. Legendary players who have worn the Bruins’ jersey include Hall of Famers Cecil "Tiny" Thompson, Eddie Shore, and Aubrey "Dit" Clapper.

  • Bruins played great!

    by Wolfl06YNP on 3/13/18TD Garden - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

My niece and nephews loved the game! I just think the price of the tickets was outrageous! They were too expensive and I think that price of the tickets is too much or regular people who are not millionaires!

Love going here for a game. Come here for a least one game a year.

  • by markmac7 on 3/4/18TD Garden - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Bruins games are a blast, this one was no exception. Was very happy with the seat, I feel like visibility in the Garden is good from everywhere, so it just depends what you want to pay for. Only gripe is the food and beers are waaaay overpriced. Eat before you go, and expect to shell out $10-$13.50 a beer.

  • Bruins Beat Up the Champs

by JDuper on 3/4/18TD Garden - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Defending champs thought a goal not even 60seconds into the game was good for em...but not really it seemed to rile up the Spoked B's in many ways as they started skating faster with more focus & just started having their way with the Penguins. The banter in the stands between the black & gold Bruins fans & the black & yellow Pens fans was well mannered. The fights between teams were respectable as well. One of the Most fun sporting events I've seen overall

  • Outstanding

    by Pat4991 on 3/4/18TD Garden - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

We had such an awesome time!!! The Bruins played beyond expectations!! So much fun!!

  • My first NHL game!

by Anonymous on 2/17/18TD Garden - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

Being a P Bruins season ticket holder it was great seeing the B Bruins play! TD was an overall great venue but can be confusing especially if it's your first time there. It was also very exciting to see them win and having it be my first NHL game was the icing on the cake. I am so glad that I got to see the Bruins play before their season is up. Such a talented group and they always continue to make me smile. I really hope I get to go to another game quite soon!

  • B's Win

    by DeeJay0407 on 2/6/18TD Garden - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Bruins won, so that's 5 stars alone. Sat in CLB section, great view, waiter service provided with great food selections.

  • Wayyyy too expensive...

    by Seanri528 on 2/6/18TD Garden - BostonRating: 3 out of 5

Parking cost $48; soda is nearly $6, Frito Lay Corn Chips cost $5.59 for a regular bag; ONE slice of pizza - $10.25!!!!!! The seats were good, but DEFINITELY NOT worth the price I paid.

  • Bruins v. Hurricanes ... lost my hat!!!

by Toohardtohandle on 1/13/18TD Garden - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

The Bruins played an exceptional game. Being there in person to see Bergeron get a hat trick (and throwing my favorite Bruins cap into the rink) was incredible! We always enjoy our trips to TD Garden. My only wish is that the bathrooms were larger!

  • TD Garden Bruins Hockey was enjoyable

by Skateblade on 12/2/17TD Garden - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

Eat before you go to the event unless you want to spend an outrageous price for food . Also, the credit card machine at the concession stands were set up to encourage tipping and is very annoying.

  • Bruins vs Oilers

by phsbulldogs on 11/29/17TD Garden - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Bruins played very flat. Terrible game for Boston fans. Seats were great. Security was quick and easy. Only get to Boston once a year.

  • No matter win or lose... Bruins are the best!

    by Tay624 on 11/29/17TD Garden - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

I've been a Boston Bruins fan my whole life, so no matter if they win or lose, I always have a good time watching them. Although my seats were in the "nose bleed" section, I prefer sitting up there because I feel like it gives you a better view of the ENTIRE game/rink. The tickets were easy to purchase and I would highly recommend going to anyone.

  • Bad expeirence

by Anonymous on 11/13/17TD Garden - BostonRating: 1 out of 5

I’ve been going to bruins game all my life and have never experienced this before. Got there before he start of the game and couldn’t get into my seat until after the game started because “there were so many people” the escalators were all blocked and no one could get in and the excuse was because of capacity. The garden was no where near as packed as it would be for the playoff games. In the end the game was great but ... my god... how can you have that kind of service. Feel free to reach out to me for more information...

  • Watching on tv does not equate

by SamHockeyFan on 11/5/17TD Garden - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

There’s nothing like being at the game, surrounded by fans and sharing in victory when your team wins. TD Garden is a beautiful venue to see a hockey game.

  • Alcohol

    by Hfhcal03 on 10/31/17TD Garden - BostonRating: 1 out of 5

U would think at this day & age they would have a section for people drinking alcohol & for people not drinking alcohol since this is a family event... My 11 yr. old got a beer spilled on her head because of the people behind us were drinking excessively & the language was ridiculous!!! We did not enjoy the game after all the money we spent !!!
