The show was fantastic! I'm never disappointed when I see Ratdog. I love Highland Bowl. Best show of the summer!!!
Great show, started with The Music Never Stopped and wrapped up with Ripple, favorite song of the night was St. Stephen.
As always we enjoyed rocking with Bob. This concert was a bit mellow for our tastes due to the songs they selected to play. Maybe it was because we were the only ones not indulging in concert enhancers. Missed hearing some of our old favorites, such as Terrapin Station etc... The Sugaree collaboration with Jackie Green and the lovely vocalist, Miss Wasserman was phenomonal. Overall we had a great time. Thank you!
The venue was very conducive to the up and down moods Bobby and Ratdog put you in. Thought they sounded almost perfect. Jackie Green really lights a fire for Bobby, and when he played w/ Lesh. Had a good time, at a great place. I always recommend seeing Ratdog.
Have seen Ratdog over a dozen times and this show was the best to date. Bobby is playing and managing the band great coming off a successful Dead tour...and Jackie Greene really sparked the lineup in the second set. The set list was great tonight, too.
The best dance trip around. So GRATEFUL to have my fix! Just awesome. They are very talented, joyful, sharing, humble musicians!
Great venue - everyone I met including security was easy going. Also great weather which helps. Loser was hot but I was never big on Even So/October Queen. I thought the boys put on a good show. Saw lots of old friends and made some new ones. I would love to see more bands use the highland bowl.
GREAT SHOW .BOB IS ON HIS GAME .VENUE CURFEW WAS WAY TO EARLY SHOW ENDED AT 9.30
As in the past, they had their fans in a frenzy from start to finish. Great choice of songs and transition from one song to another was seamless.. I could have listened all night..Thanks again Bob and all for an unforgettable evening.
Ripple? What a way to end a high energy, superb performance from the 6-piece + special guest band. I would have never thought of using Ripple as an encore, especially after RatDog boogied on for 1 1/2 hours straight. It was like a having dessert after a great steak dinner - you don't want another steak you want a way to finish off dinner. Ripple satisfied.
Jackie Greene, Ratdog, Bob Weir. Great show. Great atmosphere. Great time.
The show was awesome! The night was beautiful, the crowd was happy and the band was perfect. We danced all night. Jamie Green, the opening band, was a great match. I had never heard of them but they complimented Rat Dog quite nicely. The band played the entire time and I think the break between sets was when Bob Weir left the stage for 1 song. The crowd definitely got their money's worth. Rat Dog performed Ripple for the encore and it was the perfect way to close an unforgettable evening!! BTW, the venue holds 6,000 but I would say there were 4000 max. We had an unbelievable view. I hope they come back to the Highland Bowl. It's a great place to see a band.
Excellent show and venue, great playlist and performance. Thank You for a real good time!!!!!!!
one of the best shows and venues i have experienced...please keep playing bobby!
Jackie Greene was good and Ratdog played alot of favorites. Sweet.
I caught The Dead during their spring tour about 5 times on the east coast. They were definitely excellent, but Bob Weir does an equal or better job at classic Grateful Dead tunes in the Rat Dog configuration and this showed through in last nights show. The setlist was killer and they were much more together than The Dead as they have played much more frequently than The Dead over the last 4 years. I liked that they had some involvement with Jackie during their set as well. Highland Bowl is an excellent venue that should be taken advantage of more during Rochester summers. One Ratdog or Phil & Friends show there per summer with a few others for Lilac Festival just doesn't cut it.
It was a beautiful summer night in Rochester for an outdoor show. My wife and I reached Highland Park early and headed to the Highland Bowl to get settled in. We made our way down in front just off the right side of the stage, claimed our space and prepared for what was to come. Jackie Greene and his band took the stage at 5:30, I had never seen him before but quickly became a fan. Jackie, in my opinion, can best be described as a young Bob Dylan meets Santana. His lyrics and music are fantastic, his guitar playing is legendary and his talent is plentiful. He tore through about an hours worth of tunes which was highlighted by Mexican Girl and two great Beatles covers, Taxman and Don't Let Me Down. As they tore down the stage, we waited for anticipation for Bob Weir to hit the stage. They came out with the typical "jam" to get warmed up before kicking into the "Music Never Stopped", from that point on, the music never stopped and neither did the crowd. The band played through several Dead classics including Loser, New Speedway Boogie (my personal favorite) and Black Peter. Some great rarities were pulled out as well including Lovelight and a blazing St. Stephen complete with Jackie Greene tearing up the fret board. If you are a long time Dead fan, you will not be disappointed. If you are a Ratdog fan or new to the scene, settle in and enjoy. As an old timer, I thought the show was great and look forward to the next.
Awsome show! Extremely loud! My ears have been ringing all day!!!! The show ended early would be my only complaint!!
more more more more more more much more ned more dead, get back together and give us more more more and even more
Having Jackie Greene on the bill was a definite plus. He is a talented, rising star. When he joined Ratdog for its set-closing medley of St. Stephen>The Eleven>Turn on Your Lovelight, the concert finished on a resounding peak. Ratdog skillfully interwove Dead classics and covers like the Music Never Stopped, big River and Senor with original material, and the encore of Ripple was especially satisfying. Mark Karan joined Jackie Greene's band for its final two songs, Don't Let Me Down and Mexican Woman, and the virtuosity of all three guitar players on stage was apparent. Over the years, Ratdog has evolved into a tight band known for consistently energetic performances, something that to this day escapes The Dead at times. The perfect weather, clear and crisp sound, and musical talent carried the evening for all performers.
