About

Blue October’s angst-drenched rock has continued to evolve and sell tickets ever since the band’s 1995 start in Houston, TX. Over the course of nearly two decades and seven studio albums, frontman Justin Furstenfeld has channeled his own emotional battles and life lessons into anthemic hit songs like “Hate Me” and “Into The Ocean."  The band’s discography reflects the arc brought on by age, with ends of the spectrum being the 1998 debut “The Answers,” clouded by 20-something depression and suicidal thoughts, and the 2013 release “Sway,” a more confident, empowering real-life concept album written after his bipolar diagnosis and an unsettling divorce.   The Texas outfit, which earned the honor of opening for the Rolling Stones in the height of their 2006 platinum-selling “Foiled” push, have since managed everything from sold-out theater concerts to an intimate acoustic tour. Alt-rock fans are devoted to the group's smart combination of indie rock and orchestral melancholy.

Great venue, band can really play live! The lighting was incredible, and the setlist was perfect. If I ever get a chance, I will see Blue October again!

    Blue October Rocks!

by timmac on 7/11/09Emerald Theatre - Mt. Clemens

Excellent concert even though I did not know the first six songs (they were off the latest album which I had not heard yet). Justin performed very well - he was energetic and very into the show. The music was not too loud and the instruments were crisp. I will definitely attend another concert of theirs and would love to take my son & daughter.

    Awesome

by JGKO on 7/11/09Emerald Theatre - Mt. Clemens

They started off by playing their new album, Approaching Normal, in full!! I'm sure I will never experience anything like that ever again. They went on to play several songs from Foiled and some older ones from History for Sale and The Answers. Great show by a great band at a great venue!

    Blue October Rocks Michigan

by Kannie on 7/11/09Emerald Theatre - Mt. Clemens

Evident by the speed that tickets sold out, and the lines waiting to get in to the general admission venue, Michigan was ready for Blue October. The band, made their new album come to life, and rocked far longer than I imagained. We hooked up with fans as old as we were (49 & 55), as well as their kids (20 somethings) and we all had a riot. Only down side was that the acoustics in the hall were not as good as I have heard in other places, but the energy more than made up for it.

Blue October always brings a fabulous show!

by princesshaynes on 7/11/09Emerald Theatre - Mt. Clemens

As always, Justin puts on a fabulous performance. He is very theatrical and has a way of making you feel like you are a part of his music. He looked great after losing a bit of weight. He now has a baby girl, which I'm sure has changed his entire world and outlook on life. I've been following this band since November of 2002 and I've love every cd they've put out! The End, is one of my favorite songs on Approaching Normal. It gives me goosebumps everytime I listen to it. They are a fabulous band and work wonderfully together. They compliment each other. I can't wait for their next cd and hope that they come this way again real soon!

Blue October made my heart pound!

by yellow on 7/11/09Emerald Theatre - Mt. Clemens

Blue October is a band who shares life with the audience through an opening of their souls. A small hole in my heart was filled with the love of the stories being expressed through miraculous music!
