Black Tiger Sex Machine In Concert
Black Tiger Sex Machine cuts an unmistakable profile. There are the masks, for one thing: sleek, stylized feline heads emblazoned with LED eyes glowing white and red. On stage, they seem to float in the darkness, bobbing in time with their slow-motion dubstep beats. The masks are the ultimate proof of the way the Montreal trio has managed to create an entire universe around its menacing brand of bass music. A BTSM concert isn't just a show — it's an adventure in sci-fi world-building.
BTSM — Marc Chagnon, Julien Maranda, and Patrick Barry — got their start in 2011 with the ‘Drama' EP, a slinky fusion of electro house and filter disco, but their music soon turned darker. The ‘Studs, Spikes & Blood' EP from 2012 introduced hints of acid and warehouse rave, and by 2015's "Religion," the group's sound throbbed over lurching dubstep rhythms.
All the while, their live shows were making them a force to be reckoned with, taking them to Electric Forest, Lollapalooza, TomorrowWorld, and other influential electronic music festivals around the globe. In 2016, they put out their debut album ‘Welcome to Our Church' on their own Kannibalen label, their longtime headquarters. They followed that with ‘New Worlds' in 2018, fleshing out a long-running narrative of a zombie apocalypse in songs like "Replicants" and "Artificial Intelligence."
Their masks, fashioned by Montreal industrial designer Gabriel Hebert, place them in the ranks of Daft Punk and deadmau5 — artists with a keen grasp of compelling visual communications. Their live shows are just as spectacular, incorporating MIDI controllers with CDJs and live electronic drum pads.
As BTSM fans (dubbed "the Church") can attest, the group's concerts are enveloping affairs. They may be hard to tear your gaze away from, but the real action is in the heaving, head-banging crowd, where the trio's apocalyptic beats land like the zombie gospel.

Honestly, I’ve always know about BTSM and liked what I heard from them! But this was a last minute ticket but for me. And oh lorrddd how I was not disappointed!!! BTSM TOOK MY BOTTOM TO CHURCH (although I’ve never been religious)!!! Truly an amazing night with hot and new favorite DJ’s (Vampa & Sippy!) and my neck is still sore for head banging the night away!
The whole set up was great, the times where spaced wonderfully. The show BTSM gave was magical, laser galore.
I’ve been to a couple raves now and the music, sound, lights, energy is all there and always amazing but this show blew the others outta the water. When they say it’s their “movie experience live show” they really mean it. They put on one hell of a show. The lights, the music, visuals, and godddDAMN THOSE MASKS!! 11/10 would definitely recommend and 110% see again. There’s no doubt about it: if they’re in town and you’re any sort of EDM fan, these guys are an ABSOLUTE MUST SEE!!! Amazing experience, start to finish. Thanks for a hell of a night BTSM, we all went to Church 😎
Doors opened at 8pm took about an hour to get through security, and another hour to get merch and check coat. After this gaggle the show was over at 11:30??!! Definitely need to rethink investing money at bill graham after spending hundreds and getting a little over an hour on the dancefloor and then getting kicked out.
The venue was very nice and the set up was great. The floor was very spacious and the balcony had comfy seats. The bathrooms are in the basement but there was plenty of them. The bands were amazing but BTSM had hands down the best visuals. Was an amazing concert and I would definitely go again.
Openers and Main were amazing! Best 1st rave! Want to see them back in Spokane soon!
This was a super heavy set, which i was really looking forward to. I drove 4 hours each way and i would do it again for the same show
We loved the show. They are one of the best performers. This is still one of my favorite groups and I've seen all the big names live. I really like how they play at a variety of venues (this one was all ages which I think is important long term) Oddly this time Kai Wachi drew a large number of shirtless smelly dudes. I've seen Kai Wachi a number of times and this is the first time this happened. It made the smell in the venue pretty unbearable. Better ventilation in the knitting Factory would help a lot.
The show itself was great however the venue and it's security were far to stuffy for such an event. The acoustics we're not great. But again the artists top notch. Idaho needs a better indoor arena for these shows with more show friendly security guidelines. Like come on this is edm not Christian rock.
They put on a fantastic show. I took my daughters who are 11 and 8 and they throughly enjoyed the experience of an edm show.
This is a Revolution thing, not a BTSM thing. The openers need better sound quality. I could turn the volume up in my car and it would sound the same. They don’t have to have the same sound as the headliner… but it was SO quiet.
I love going to the factory! There’s so much space and room for people to move and groove, plus the multiple bathrooms are a blessing. Drinks are made good and fast! The lighting and sound is always on point! My favorite venue
I loved the show. Enjoyed BTSM to the fullest. The only thing I would wish, was that the openers were better. I didn’t enjoy them at all and probably should have just showed up later. The venue is one of my new favorites!
Although BTSM had a great performance the overall experience was underwhelming. The fact that House Of Blues did not give any type of sound quality go then previous acts was disappointing. Jessica Audiffred is a headliner and we couldn’t fully enjoy her music because there was no bass to be heard for a high-energy bass artist!! I understand production for visuals and effects but no musician, especially electronic, should be denied sound quality. We basically had to imagine what the bass sounded like and by the time BTSM played I was bored and not hyped at all. 2-3 hours of muffled sound, barely loud, poor quality is not a great opening.
Insane visuals. Never heard bass this loud in HOB.
The supporting artists were spectacular and of course BTSM went so hard. Letting them meet and greet their fans was the best, they signed my arm and now it’s tatted on me
As per usual, the guys out on an amazing experience for everyone. The openers they’ve brought along absolutely kill it in every aspect. From visuals to the movie experience to the music everything was perfect.
Missed openers and Kai Wachi because show started at 7 not 8. Show was oversold too
Everything about their performance was amazing. From the music to the visuals they did not disappoint! It was my first time seeing them & I cant wait to see them again.
