About

Black Label Society are the ongoing musical creation of infamous guitarist Zakk Wylde, who was plucked from obscurity by Ozzy Osbourne in 1987 and soon became a household name among heavy metal enthusiasts. Black Label Society were formed in 1998 after Wylde split from Ozzy and company. They recently released Unblackened, a live CD/DVD featuring a batch of stripped-down versions of their songs. The CD contains six bonus tracks, including covers of "Ain't No Sunshine" by Bill Withers and "A Song For You" by Leon Russell. Concerts give ticket holders plenty of bang for their buck. The band is a world-class live act, dishing out powerful sets of blues-based rock and metal songs fueled by Wylde's unmistakable guitar work and vocals. The band's recent unplugged-style concert performances may hint to a mellower approach in the future.

By the time Wylde embarked upon and struck out on his own solo career, he was a well-established name in the rock community. This eventually allowed him to achieve stand-alone success with the formation of Black Label Society and the debut album, Sonic Brew. Eight more albums, along with subsequent tours, were to follow. Their most popular studio release was Order Of The Black, which hit shelves in August 2010 and reached No. 4 on the Billboard Top 200 chart. The band has another studio album that is set for release sometime in 2014. Whether it will rediscover the band's hard rocking roots or continue in the mellower vein is a mystery. Based on the band's history, it's anyone's guess.

    bls at the roxy!!

by JulesBLS on 8/16/10Roxy Theatre - Hollywood

Not only is Zakk an amazing guitarist and singer he has a huge heart too... the event proceeds went to St Jude's. I was a little disappointed Cycle of Pain didn't play but Black Label more then made up for it. the vocals were a little low at first the guitar sounded great through out the entire show. the new drummer Will was amazing. Nick is great I love watching the guys when they smile and look like they are having as much fun playing for me as I am to watching them. they played a great mix of old songs and a few new ones the crowd was great BLS fans are the best. I would love to see Zakk in a place this size again and again.

Zakk and BLS sounded better than ever. The new songs are solid. It was great to be able to catch them in such a small venue. Even better, it was for a good cause (St. Jude Benefit)If they do this again. I will definitely be back. I can never see these guys enough times.

It's Zakk effing Wylde. What more is there to say?

by fdsarawr on 8/11/10Roxy Theatre - Hollywood

Zakk put on an amazing show! As usual. Him playing at the Roxy was amazing, I've never seen him at such a small venue and it was well worth it buying the tickets ASAP before they sold out. The sound could have been better but that wasn't his fault, the Roxy has kind of poor audio, especially for the heavy chugging riffs of the one and only Zakk Wylde. But even that didn't matter, Zakk was so exciting and the band was so clean; even with new drummer Will Hunt only recently being added in November 2009. If you're a fan of BLS, you must see this band live, there is nothing like it. This is my 6th BLS show and definitely not my last, not even close.

    Zack rocks L.A. chapter

by Codge on 8/11/10Roxy Theatre - Hollywood

Black Label Society took the Roxy but storm last night! As so many other great bands have done before them! With a army of bulls eyed Les pauls stacked in his corner. Zack poured out the Riffs and melodies to create a shredding mix of hard driving raw rock and roll! If you want to see The face of heavy metal the way it should be see BLS!

Black label society had a bad mix

by jim2000man on 8/17/09House of Blues Atlantic City - Atlantic City

I first want to say I love Black Label And mean what follows with the utmost respect the concert had a horrible mix the first four songs were cracking and popping like crazy. when that finally was settled and stopped the sound was better, but still not mixed right. Maybe some of the problem is due to sitting in the balcony and it was mixed down on the floor but I had some friends in the pit and they said it was bad there as well. The guitar was way to high (yes I know its Zakk Wylde),but you should still at least be able to hear the vocals at least a little. Last but not least Black Labels set was way too short they didnt play In This River , or Spoke In The Wheel and I would personally liked to have heard House of Doom,Funeral Bell, and especially Doomsday Jesus. Oh well everybody has a bad one once in a while. Sorry Zakk but honesty is the best policy still Black Label for life, maybe next time will be better.

by GT8FDSOUTH on 8/6/09House of Blues Atlantic City - Atlantic City

Well, I still can't talk right............From the start of Cycle of Pain to the end of Black Label Society I couldnt stop screaming, I had an excellent view and the bar was very accessible so I didnt lose my place at the front of the stage. Not only would I attend another event but I would really reccommend friends to go see shws there because the House of Blues really knows how to throw a good show!

    BLS awsome as always!

by Jugheadman on 8/4/09House of Blues Atlantic City - Atlantic City

Zakk and Co. shot straight through for about an hour and a half ,non stop. Set list changed up a bit from recent show i saw (which was a refreshing ). The House Of Blues is an excellent setting for shows. There is plenty of room and the stage can be seen anywhere inside the venue. If you have any interest in Zakk or BLS they are a wicked band to see.

    I love BLS

by PeterSDMF on 8/4/09House of Blues Atlantic City - Atlantic City

Duff Goldman (from Ace of Cakes tv show) opened up! And pretty good too.. JD's Cycle of Pain was really really good!!!!!!!!!!! I really enjoyed them alot! BLS awesome! Zakk, Nick, JD and Louisiana lightning were awesome! We had balcaney seats and they were awesome, except for the idiots in front that thought they drink too much and stand for most of the show even though everyone was yelling at them to sit. They played everything but In this River, although he dedicated 2 other songs to Dime. Solo was great! and just a great night of music, although we were hoping they'd come out for an Encore but they didn't (I guess because all theire family were at the show). Only issue was it was too damn loud and it took away from the music.. my bro-in-law was dissapointed he couldn't really hear Zakk's singing, same for my buddy. SO 5 stars except for the soudn drowned out the vocals... S~D~M~F!

BLS in AC amazing as usual!!

by richiez1 on 8/4/09House of Blues Atlantic City - Atlantic City

Zakk and the boys came to AC and did not disappoint! Although there was not a full house (it was a dreary Sunday Nite) Zakk gave it his all. Zakk pulled out all of his famous guitars in his arsenal and blew the roof off. Great sound and just amazing, as usual. I could see this guy every time he plays.

    Amazing show!

by BLSKitten on 8/4/09House of Blues Atlantic City - Atlantic City

Zakk Wylde's Black Label Society treated their fans to a blistering show. Current hit "Suicide Messiah" and crowd favorite "Stillborn" brought down the house. BLS's tribute to Dimebag Darrell was poignant and fitting. BLS bassist JD's band, Cycle of Pain, opened the show and was excellent in their own right. The House of Blues continues to be a stellar venue.
