    Coppelia-My new favorite ballet

    by 3gr8kids on 4/23/13Chrysler Hall - Norfolk

This is the type of Ballet you can take the whole family to. Even someone who isn't a big fan of your typical ballets (i.e. nutcracker, swan lake) would probably change their mind with this one. It was funny and well executed and had Gorgeous scenery. My 8 year old was mesmerized and my 10 year old now wants to take ballet classes! It was not slow as some of the more traditional ballets can get and the story was very easy to follow. The dancers were amazing and it was a fantastic experience for us!

Performance was outstanding. The dance was graceful and the "acting" was humorous. Great Sunday afternoon.

Fresh choreography for Coppelia funny & engaging

by jvooaoij on 4/23/13Chrysler Hall - Norfolk

The first act followed the traditional choreography but the second and third acts were choreography I had not previously seen and were wonderfully executed. Second act featured Coppelia mimicing all the dolls in the shop in a cleaver and amusing way. Really held the attention and captured the theme of the story. The final act showcased the wedding celebration with characters not seen before in this classical ballet and included a wonderful pas de deux. I would love to see it again. Birmingham Ballet does an excellent job in all aspects.

    Coppelia is delightful!

    by CAG46 on 4/23/13Chrysler Hall - Norfolk

This was the first professional ballet I'd ever been to and I absolutely loved it! The scenery was unbelievable and the costumes were exquisite. I used my binoculars to examine the embroidery on the fabrics and the gorgeous leathers of the boots of the male dancers. The story line was both cute and funny and went so quickly that I wanted to see more.

    Coppelia was great!

    by Saltyo5 on 4/23/13Chrysler Hall - Norfolk

Aside from the fact that I personally thought the VA Symphony Orchestra seemed to have rather obvious Tuba/Trombone volume relative to other instruments (I'm no musician), the entire performance overall was great!

    Very good performance!

by NCSUJURI on 4/23/13Chrysler Hall - Norfolk

Coppelia was a fun performance to watch, especially for a ballet novice like myself. The program explaining what was going on with the plot was definitely helfpful, but not required. The set design and construction was absolutely AMAZING!!!!

This is the second time we've seen Birmingham Royal Ballet in Norfolk for the Virginia Arts Festival and another top notch performance. World class ballet. Dancing was phenomenal and sets and costumes were gorgeous. Please bring them back to Norfolk again!

    Young dancers

by endows on 4/23/13Chrysler Hall - Norfolk

Totally beautiful, but not perfect and still young. I think they are 3A dancers in Ballet, compared to Mariinsky Ballet and Paris Opera.

For a ballet, the scenery was the most spectacular we have seen.

    BIRMINGHAM ROYAL BALLET

by tolj on 4/21/13Chrysler Hall - Norfolk

The most beautiful sets, costumes and lighting of a classic, family friendly ballet. The dancing was superb at every level. And even the children were engaged and entertained form the START to the FINALE!

The dancing was awesome. The music was great (we were in front row and the volume did not overwhelm us at all. They got 5 curtain calls.

Such incredible talent. The sets were fantastic. I took my 11 year old daughter. It was her first ballet and she had a great time...she continued to thank me throughout the night. I recommend this performance without reservation.

Coppélia - Birmingham Royal Ballet was wonderful

    by Elizabeth1865 on 4/21/13Chrysler Hall - Norfolk

The show was perfect and so was our seats. The show was very entertaining and the crowd was animated. The story line was beautiful, and the costumes were out of this world. I enjoy every moment of the show and so did my family. It was an unforgettable night.
