BIRDY IN CONCERT:

British songstress Birdy has been delighting audiences with her humble persona and catchy cover songs ever since making her debut in 2011. Although new to the pop scene, she possesses the impressive piano chops of a seasoned performer, delighting fans with beautiful renditions of Bon Iver's signature tune "Skinny Love" and James Taylor's classic "Fire and Rain," to name a few. Birdy is a dynamic young artist whose rich voice has transcended the bounds of the traditional singer-songwriter genre, and she'll treat ticket buyers to a number of new tracks alongside her famous covers as she warms up the stage for Christina Perri.  

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Born Jasmine van den Bogaerde, the piano prodigy attracted mainstream success at just 12 years old when she performed under her nickname Birdy and won the 2008 Open Mic UK contest. Three years later, she performed a stripped-down version of Bon Iver's tune "Skinny Love" on YouTube, racking up more than 60 million views and launching to stardom overnight. Her 2011 eponymous debut followed, which topped charts in three countries and garnered serious praise from music blogs and magazines. Since then, she's collaborated with fellow English folk band Mumford & Sons, performed at countless music festivals, and released her acclaimed 2013 sophomore LP Fire Within. Birdy will continue to soar to new heights as she supports Christina Perri on the Head or Heart tour.

    Amazing

    Live, Birdy's music is so much fuller and her stage presence is tremendously engaging. One of the best live shows I have ever seen. Intimate during the quieter, sadder songs and confidently simple for the "anthems"(as much at that word can be applied to Birdy's music). The lighting and occasional backdrop imagery were modest. This show was all about the music, and the crowd was REALLY into it. Oh, and the drummer was crushing it, and the set list was really thoughtfully put together for an hours worth of music. I'm not the biggest fan of Irving Plaza.. just a little bit too deep, and when half the crowd is holding up phones to record, it's hard to see, especially if you happen to be of medium height. Drinks are really expensive, also. However, THIS is what live music is all about. That magic in a bottle moment.

    This young lady can certainly entertain a crowd throughout the entire show. her songs are amazing, great lyrics, not a whole lights show and video show but I CANT complain because you dont think about it when you are right there.

    The show was fantastic, the event staff not so much. The VIP area on the second floor was closed off and since no one showed they opened it for the general public. But they allowed people in the back to enter and not the ones up front. We left the second floor after that. BAR TENDERS WERE EXCELLENT.

    I saw her at the Wilitern touring with Christina Perri as an opening act and I'm like wow. Best opening act I have ever seen. I wanted more. She is amazing and she has a beautiful voice. It's just heavenly like an angel. Thank you Christina Perri for letting her tour with you and recognizing a great talent like her. Her interpretation of Skinny Love is just marvelous. It's hard to believe she is only 18. She is so mature for her age. I would totally see her as a stand alone show

    Birdy's music is beautiful and she genuinely loves her fans - after this show (which she was the opener for) there were 200 fans or so lined up to meet her and get their cd signed and she greeted them all with a smile. Her music is great and it translates very well live...I brought my mom to the show and she loved it.
