About

BILLY RAY CYRUS VISITS AUSTRALIA FOR THE FIRST TIME IN TWO DECADES.

Throughout the course of nearly three decades, Billy Ray Cyrus has achieved international success as a singer, songwriter, entertainer, and philanthropist.

Having released 12 studio albums and 44 singles since 1992, he is best known for his number one single “Achy Breaky Heart”, which became the first single ever to achieve triple Platinum status in Australia. It was also the best-selling single in the same country in 1992 and was translated into more than 100 languages. Thanks to the video of this hit, the line dance catapulted into the mainstream, becoming a worldwide craze.

He has sold over 20 million albums, charted 35 singles, 16 of which are Top 40 hits and has scored a total of eight top-ten singles on the Billboard Country Songs chart. His most successful album to date is his debut Some Gave All, which has been certified 9× Multi-Platinum in the United States and is the longest time spent by a debut artist at number one on the Billboard 200 (17 consecutive weeks) and most consecutive chart-topping weeks in the SoundScan era.

It is the only album (from any genre) in the SoundScan era to log 17 consecutive weeks at number one and is also the top-ranking debut album by a male country artist. It ranked 43 weeks in the top 10, a total topped by only one country album in history, Ropin’ the Wind by Garth Brooks.

Some Gave All was also the first debut album to enter at number one on the Billboard Country Albums chart. The album has also sold more than 20 million copies worldwide and is the best-selling debut album of all time for a solo male artist. Some Gave All was also the best-selling album of 1992 in the US with 4,832,000 copies.

Currently, Cyrus has numerous new projects in the works including the new television series on CMT, “Still The King,” in which he shares writing and executive-production credits.

Billy Ray Cyrus is celebrating the 25th anniversary of his world wide smash “Achy Breaky Heart”. To celebrate he is hitting the road and heading Down Under for the first time in two decades this coming March.

Cyrus plays an intimate show at the legendary The Palms at Crown in Melbourne on Thursday 22 March, joined by Australian country star Travis Collins.

Around the world, it is without a doubt that Billy Ray Cyrus is a household name and will continue to be recognised through generations.

These shows are not to be missed.

Oh my gosh! My friends and I had a blast! We paid a little bit more money for the VIP tickets and we think all of the fun was because of that! We saw, talked to, touched, and got a photo with Billy Ray.

    Billy Ray was awesome!

by cruiserkelli on 7/12/09Atlantic City Hilton - Atlantic City

Billy Ray Cyrus puts on a heck of a show! This was my 3rd Billy Ray concert, having seen him twice before during the peak of the "Achy Breaky Heart" craze. He had definitely gotten better over the years. What I love about him the most is his humility. He is a very humble man and very appreciative of his fans. He stayed on stage after the concert for at least a half an hour signing autographs and interacting with his fans. That is unheard of today...most performers barely even acknowledge the fans and seem to perform like robots...same songs in the same order, year after year. This concert was a joy. My only complaint was the venue...not a Hilton issue but it seems to be an Atlantic City issue. The last few shows I've attended in Atlantic City have been uncomfortable. They've been in venues where they line banquet chairs in rows and that is the "reserved seating". Here's the problem: the chairs are lined up and then tied together with plastic bands, so if you are a larger person or seated next to a larger person, you are practically joined at the leg. You can't even move the chairs to put a little space between them because they are tied together! In this day and age, with more and more overweight people, you need to have a little more space. It's not fair to pay tons of money for a seat and then be uncomfortable through the whole show. As a larger person, I have a right to be comfortable too. It is embarassing to spend the whole night touching a total stranger...it's not fair to me and it's not fair to them. Please listen up AC and give us a little more room....I don't like feeling like a sardine.
