About

That face, that name, that sneer. Rock icon BILLY IDOL, known for a plethora of hit singles including “Rebel Yell,” “White Wedding,” “Dancing With Myself” “Eyes Without A Face” and many more, returns this summer to perform at The Outer Fields, Western Springs on Sunday, January 19.

Sharing the stage for an epic Sunday afternoon and evening of live music are seminal New Zealand artists Stellar* and Elemeno P.

Artisanal beers, wines and great food, as well as fun attractions, will add to the festival ambience of the day. The event is GA/All ages so bring the family and settle in for a late Summer’s Sunday of great entertainment.

An early architect of punk rock's sound, style, and fury, Billy Idol remains to this day a true rock 'n' roll icon. From punk pioneer to global superstar, Billy Idol has left an indelible mark in popular music and remained a household name for over three decades. His style, music, and attitude have transcended time and trend. Born in 1955 in Stanmore, North London, Idol spent several formative years living on Long Island, NY as a child before returning to the UK and emerging as a central figure of the British punk movement. As part of the infamous Bromley Contingent and a fan of the Sex Pistols, Idol was inspired to front the pioneering British punk band Generation X from 1976 until the band’s split in 1981. Determined to break through in America, Billy Idol hooked up with guitar genius Steve Stevens and a crucial musical partnership was forged.

Idol’s lip-curling sneer and fist-pumping persona vaulted him into the mainstream as one of MTV’s first megastars, making him one of the most recognisable faces in pop music, while selling out arenas everywhere he played.  He has sold 40 million albums while scoring numerous platinum albums worldwide, nine top forty singles in the US and 10 in the UK.  Hit singles include ‘Dancing With Myself’, ‘Hot In The City’, ‘Eyes Without A Face’, ‘Rebel Yell’, ‘Mony Mony’, and arguably Idol’s most famed song ‘White Wedding’.

Legendary four-piece band Stellar*, fronted by the dynamic singer/songwriter/guitarist Boh Runga, are Sony New Zealand’s highest selling Kiwi band. Dominating the airwaves and charts throughout the early 2000’s Stellar* boast three Top 10 albums, 9 Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards and a legion of fans throughout the country.

Known for their pulsating live performances, Stellar* return in 2020 to perform a series of special shows to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the release of their 5 star debut album MIX. That album sold 80,000 copies (5 x Platinum) and generated five top 20 singles – ‘Part Of Me’, ‘Violent’, ‘Undone’, ‘Every Girl’ and ‘What You Do (Bastard)’ – all massive radio singles and indelibly etched in the Kiwi music landscape.  Expect a dynamic set featuring MIX in full, more hits, plus their killer version of Sharon O’Neill’s ‘Maxine’ – which took the 2017 Vodafone NZ Music Awards by storm.

In the early 2000’s Elemeno P erupted onto the New Zealand rock scene, seemingly from out of nowhere. A four-piece with straight-arrow, energetic, power-pop anthems. A succession of massive hits such as ‘Verona’, ‘Every Day’s A Saturday’, ‘Fast Times in Tahoe’ and ’11.57’ followed.

Equipped with a fun-loving attitude, Elemeno P soon became household favourites across the nation, releasing a trifecta of top tier albums in the space of six years.

The band’s debut album ‘Love & Disrespect’ was released in 2003, reaching number #1 on the New Zealand album charts and went on to sell triple platinum. Two more albums would follow, selling Platinum and Gold respectively and leading to the band taking home Best Group at the New Zealand Music Awards in 2008. Elemeno P make a welcome return to the stage in January 2020.

  • Excellent experience.

by Awesome on 9/22/25Cascades Amphitheater - RidgefieldRating: 5 out of 5

Very pleasant experience. Joan and Billy were amazing. Lights, action, sound was the best. The seating rows are a big long and hard to maneuver. Good food choices available. Traffic is always a nightmare so go EARLY.

  • Excellent show from both rockers!

by Ole Schul on 9/22/25Cascades Amphitheater - RidgefieldRating: 5 out of 5

Billy and Joan put on great shows! They do have a new song together - it felt like a missed opportunity to not perform it together - it could have been a great transition between their sets.

  • Best concert yet!

by Jeanie on 9/22/25Cascades Amphitheater - RidgefieldRating: 5 out of 5

I have gone to see a few different performers, all different genres. But Billy Idol is on a different level! Such charisma and talent, still going. I would definitely pay to see him perform again, and ticketmaster made it easy.

  • Both Bands Were Really Tight!

by Surf Dog on 9/22/25Cascades Amphitheater - RidgefieldRating: 5 out of 5

Joan Jet, as always, was rockin hard! Billy Idol was better than I expected. Probably because I hadn't heard any of his music for decades. He put on a solid performance with a tight and talented band and backup singers.

  • Billy Idol / Joan Jett - flawless concert experience

by WyndoKity on 9/22/25Cascades Amphitheater - RidgefieldRating: 5 out of 5

I've been to many reunion shows where the old bands from our youth are still good, but not the great performances you've experienced in the past. Both of these performers delivered the kind of experience you would expect from seasoned performers who have kept up their craft over the years and gotten better like fine wine. I also appreciated that they had solos and showcased the talent of their long time backing bands. The talent and execution were unbelievable. This is a performance worth seeing if you have upcoming dates in your city.

  • Good but not great

    by Boomer19 on 9/22/25Cascades Amphitheater - RidgefieldRating: 4 out of 5

Billy is nearing 70 years old . Andfor the most part sounded good . Forgot or missed a couple of words . Steve Stevens was phenomenal ! With two solos . Billy let the two back up singers shine . The back drop was the best I ever seen . The only song that was a hit the was not on the set list was "To be a Lover "

  • Great Music & Venue

by Kim on 9/22/25Cascades Amphitheater - RidgefieldRating: 3 out of 5

We found the coordination for parking & checking in for the VIP Meet & Greet confusing. If it weren’t for the others in line tell us what to do we would not have known. The team inside involved with the meet & greet were great. Though I understand the social distancing for Billy & Steve…. I had anticipated more of a personal experience. I also think the food vendors should be ready to open for the people with early entrance. I over head one didn’t have ice? However…. Billy Idol & Jon Jett were spot on & sound great! Thank you.

  • Fantastic

by PG on 9/22/25Cascades Amphitheater - RidgefieldRating: 5 out of 5

The seats were great! The lines for merchandise were not bad. I felt bad for security as there suddenly was a bunch of drunks dancing in the isles where they didn't belong and blocking the view for others. They did a great job of either ushering them back to their seats or back to the lawn area. I whish there had been an opener to Joan Jett as we missed her opening song standing in line for food. Otherwise I loved every moment of the concert. For me this was as fantastic as Nickelback.

  • Disappointed

by Archie on 9/22/25Cascades Amphitheater - RidgefieldRating: 3 out of 5

I went to the concert expecting Billy Idol to be the main event! Joan Jet took the show!! Billy pandered to his guitarist and lead singer. Hardly any of his old (good) songs played/sang. I was sorely disappointed, as I went to a Billy Idol tribute band a couple years ago, and they did such a good job. I was up dancing the whole concert. I did not get up once to dance at this concert! Let Billy be Billy Idol and give him his own show. . .that's what I came to hear.

I will aim for those seats for every future show. Both Billy and Joan can still truly rock. Steve Stevens is a legend.

  • Billy was so fun!

by AlohaDi on 9/22/25Cascades Amphitheater - RidgefieldRating: 3 out of 5

Billy Idol / Joan Jett "Nice day to tour again..."Performers were so fun. Concert set was great. The people sitting on each side, in front and back were polite and engaged. Nobody left early. My seat was in the 7th row. Perfect view! It was my first time at Ridgefield, and probably my last. It is not an easy venue to get to. Especially using a rideshare service like Uber. The drop off point was over a mile away. Plan for that, wear the right shoes and leave with plenty of time to get in, get your merch, buy your bevie and make it to your seat. After the concert, the first Uber driver that accepted my ride, cancelled on me when they were only able to get as far as the Rodda Paint store and not to the designated Ride Share pickup area. I made friends and was able to catch a ride with absolute strangers who were very gracious. My hotel was in The Couve Waterfront area, the Uber ride out to the venue was $54 and took about 27 minutes.

  • Great show!!

by Randi on 9/22/25Cascades Amphitheater - RidgefieldRating: 4 out of 5

I loved the combo of Joan Jett and Billy Idol, two punk legends under one roof. You couldn't pick a better pair in light of our current political climate. Punk stands for everything against what's going on in America so I was slightly disappointed that Billy didn't say anything At least Joan spoke an excerpt from the Gettysburg address in regards to free speech. My only other beef is with the cost of a beer, $25 is robbery and there is no excuse for that

  • Billy Idol

by DKO on 9/22/25Cascades Amphitheater - RidgefieldRating: 5 out of 5

Got to see Billy Idol and he can still rock his audience!! Definitely would love to see again!

  • Great show

by Bethers on 9/22/25Cascades Amphitheater - RidgefieldRating: 4 out of 5

The concerts were wonderful! Love the venue Disappointed with parking. VIP does not mean you can get there right before the concert and expect to park right away. We needed ADA parking and had to sit in line because of this. ADA filled up and I had to park in GA parking. There was a shuttle, which was great. The line for shuttle at the end (left before last song) was so long I pushed my knee scooter over rocks instead of wait. I don’t blame the venue for this, they were as surprised as I was at the amount of people requesting it.

  • A Great Show

by someonewhowent on 9/21/25Toyota Amphitheatre - WheatlandRating: 5 out of 5

A wonderful show. Steve Stevens was fantastic. He played every song you wanted to hear. The band was so tight, they even sounded progressive. .

  • Still Idol

by Ravi on 9/21/25Acrisure Arena at Greater Palm Springs - Palm DesertRating: 5 out of 5

It was a great concert. Billy Idol is a god! He sounds just like old times, puts up a great show. The Arena has a great acoustics. The seats could be a bit separated because it feel like you are on top of each other.

  • It was amazing

by Stacy on 9/21/25Toyota Amphitheatre - WheatlandRating: 5 out of 5

Was easy to purchase. However tickets had to be resent in order to scan, which waisted my time after a long drive. Otherwise it was great. Billymidol and joan jett were fantastic

  • Glad I went!

by Tom Jones on 9/20/25Toyota Amphitheatre - WheatlandRating: 5 out of 5

Although I saw many bands in my past, I don't recall seeing either Billy Idol or Joan Jett in person before this. Both bands were awesome! And aging well.
