BERNHOFT IN CONCERT:

Norwegian neo-soul crooner Bernhoft continues to set the groove with his jazzy tunes and sultry vocals. At his live shows Bernhoft's throwback performance style and virtuosic backing band recall the craftsmanship of a bygone musical era, transporting fans back to the golden age of soul while remaining firmly oriented to the future with slick production elements. Whether he's nailing the falsetto harmonies of "Streetlights" or treating fans to his unique rendition of Tears for Fears' hit "Shout", the charismatic singer’s confidence and showmanship make for an unforgettable experience on his must-see tours.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Norway-born, New York-based Jarle Bernhoft got his start with the Norwegian band Explicit Lyrics before forming the rock band Span in the early '00s. After several successful releases -- including two Top 5 albums in Norway -- Span called it quits, and in 2008 Bernholdt made his solo debut with the soul-influenced album Ceramik City Chronicles. The album marked a new stylistic direction for the singer and proved popular with audiences, landing at No. 4 on the Norwegian charts. His next two albums landed at No. 1, and in 2014 he topped the Norwegian charts a third time with the critically acclaimed Islander LP. A passionate singer with prodigious performance chops, Berhhoft continues to thrill on his electrifying tours.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"The performance was excellent. His music and interaction with the people make a beautiful combination."

"First time seeing solo Bernhoft, master of loops and percussive perfection, but the amazing talent is his voice and engagement of fans."

    Even better with a band

by BinnyRocks on 5/13/16The Sinclair - Cambridge

We first learned of Bernhoft from his appearance on Conan and later YouTube videos, all of which focussed on his distinctive solo style. I also saw him perform solo a couple years ago, also at The Sinclair, and it was great. This time, he had a band with him, The Shudderbugs. Guitar/bass/keyboards/drums. It released Bernhoft to express himself physically, which really enhanced the performance. The guitarist was also a standout, with many excellent riffs of his own. I kept thinking, "if I was a rich person, I would want him to play at a party I would host." It was such a fun time. I also had my 15-year-old daughter there, and she liked it even better than the X Ambassadors concert she went to two days before.

Amazing! The fact that Bernhoft is not hugely famous is shocking to me. One of the best live performances you'll see.

    Bernhoft's A Great Frontman, Too!

by OTSI on 6/27/15Mercury Lounge - New York

Most YouTube clips show him as an incredible one-man band. This show was the first time I saw him with guitar, keyboards, bass and drums back-up. And everybody did backing vocals. This gave B a chance to show his real stuff as a singer and performer. Packed crowd loved every second!

Bernhoft is on his own level of amazing.

by JB1826 on 6/27/14Bowery Ballroom - New York City

This concert was better than I could've even imagined. He's the greatest artist I can think of and yet he still played with so much feeling and intensity as if it was his first show. Nobody can even begin to compare to his level of musicality, and I'm actually a little bit bummed out that the countdown to this concert is over.

He's a one man band and a poet. He's also Norwegian and offensively talented.

Bernhoft was and is amazing! I've seen many of his YouTube videos and new he would be great so I was jus ready to see the show. We arrived late because we didn't want to see the opener, but the venue is a perfect size but even standing in the back you got an Amazon experience. Great thick low end! Nice micing!

How is Bernhoft not a National Phenomena!?!?

by DrDudek on 6/27/14Bowery Ballroom - New York

Truly an amazing performer and an unbelievable concert. Bernhoft has an incredible talent of performing an entire concert all on his own. He has an amazing range and sounds just as good as he does on his record. Loved the way he interacted with his audience and I can't wait till he is back in town!

    Bernhoft is Ridiculously Talented

by JarleFan on 6/27/14Bowery Ballroom - New York

If you ever get the chance to see him live, don't think twice. I would've easily paid four times the ticket price to see the show I saw. I'd seen all the YouTube videos of his live performances, but seeing him work in person was nothing short of awe-inspiring. I've seen everyone from Coldplay to Pear Jam to Brad Paisley to James Taylor to Peter Gabriel to The Police. Bernhoft is, hands down, the most talented musician I have ever has the pleasure of seeing perform.

Bernhoft is a genius, MOMS was exceptional

by SirMungus on 11/29/13The Sinclair - Cambridge

Arrived 20 minutes into opening act, Miracles of Modern Science. Completely wished we had arrived on time. They were excellent. Completely original sound, outstanding vocals, and huge creativity, especially on the "special track" song which was a spoken word, Vincent Price-ish, sadistic but humorous tale put to clever music. Bernhoft is a genius. You can see this on his YouTubes, but it's even more incredible in person. Great stage presence, and incorporates his crowd sell.

    Incredible talent and energy!

by RollsRoss on 11/28/13The Sinclair - Cambridge

Dave Matthews meets Mumford is opening Miracles of Modern Science, a string plus drum quintet everyone must check out. Fantastic and diverse set, very engaging, creative and entertaining. Will be big. First time seeing solo Bernhoft, master of loops and percussive perfection, but the amazing talent is his voice and engagement of fans. Great mix of tempos but primarily 4/4 funky driving numbers which kept people moving and singing choruses and verses. Some odd banter about gay and lesbian affects fell flat but overall incredibly engaging and a true talent meriting far more recognition! One of the finest soulful and most powerful voices today!
