About

All the world's a stage, and the Spanish guitar is one of its greatest instruments. Benise is bringing his Flamenco-inspired pieces and tango-infused dance numbers to the stage, leaving all who hear him spellbound in his wake. Benise is a world-renowned guitarist who has brought his unique blend of Spanish guitar and world music to stages worldwide since the early 2000s. His 2022 tour, aptly named the "20th Anniversary Tour," showcases the best of Benise throughout the years by virtue of music and dance.

His passion for the guitar has taken him on an incredible journey from the streets of Omaha to busking in Southern California and finally to the world stage. Known as "The Prince of Spanish Guitar," Benise has been wowing audiences worldwide with his sizzling music and spellbinding dance for over two decades, rocking fans across the globe with his sultry blend of Spanish guitar and world rhythms, winning the hearts of millions of fans worldwide.

The result: a mesmerizing feast of sight and sound from which no audience member will ever want to escape. Benise has truly mastered an international style of music having been influenced by nearly every genre possible, with great depth and passion vibrating underneath.

Growing up on a farm in Nebraska, his devotion to rock music was palpable. That success was just a twinkle in Benise's eye before finally picking up flamenco music in 1994. From there, he met violinist Jim Sitterly, guitarists Gilberto Gonzales and Yussi, bassist Mychal Lomas, drummer Carlos Lopez, and percussionist CG Ryche and formed a band (also) called Benise.

Benise's sound is primarily influenced by flamenco music and incorporates elements spanning Brazilian samba, Cuban salsa, Parisian waltz, African drumming, and more. The magic happens by bringing together musicians from different countries to create a unique sound that melds their cultures through music.

A significant turning point in Benise's career came when PBS approached him to create a show for its "Great Performances'' series. He spent time writing and recording what would become "Nights of Fire!" -- which made its broadcast debut on public television stations nationwide in 2006 and subsequently won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Costumes for a Variety or Music Program.

Since its debut, "Nights of Fire!" has drawn in audiences of all types -- whether or not they have any familiarity with flamenco music. Dazzling lights, dancers and aerial performers make you feel like you're experiencing something transcendent rather than just listening to a concert.

Benise's ability to reproduce sounds from around the world makes him a force of nature. His original style has earned him worldwide recognition, while he continues to push the envelope. Don't miss out on this unique spellbinding performance and see Benise live when he comes to a city near you.

  • Disappointing

I have not left a negative review ever. But this event was so disappointing that I just have to let music lovers know how bad it was. Overall - a poorly done variety show... Dancers were not in sync ever. It seemed that one of the dancers knew the combinations, and the rest just followed. Most of pieces were done with recorded back ground music that sounded incredibly cheap Even Mr. Benise guitar skills were less that impressive. I think his rhythm and base guitar sounded better. My companion and I were speechless... With disappointment

Great energy concert. Classic rock songs interpreted a bit with tasteful Spanish guitar and Flamenco dancer choreography. The video background added to the colorful appeal.

Have been following Benise in NJ since 2011 when he played at Trenton War Memorial. The Count Basie venue is a great venue for shows and Benise always delivers an awesome show. Great audience interaction. Only wish they were there post the show like last year.

  • Not worth it

by Luigi on 3/26/25Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts - CerritosRating: 2 out of 5

False advertisement when I saw it in Facebook it clearly states flamenco dance, this was nothing but just a guitar trio play, not worth the 95 dollars i paid per ticket

  • Overall, it was good.

The dancers' costumes were dark. They should have been more colorful for the stage.

by Trish on 7/24/24Center Theatre at North Shore Center for the Performing Arts - SkokieRating: 5 out of 5

Such a beautiful fun show. Interactive performances made it fun. Musicians were fantastic especially Benise. Only wish spanish guitar was "louder". The dancers were amazing and were the stars of the show. Felt bad ballet dancer had a minor wardrobe malfunction but she kept on like a pro! Almost didn't want show to end. Even got Benise autograph of DVD.

  • Spanish Guitarist

by Papa. Mark on 7/15/24Center Theatre at North Shore Center for the Performing Arts - SkokieRating: 5 out of 5

Benise is a fantastic Spanish guitarist originally from California. He along with his group would play on the street before they could find a paying gig. It was amazing. His first song was by Led Zeppelin and his last by the Eagles. Not your typical Spanish guitarist. Fantastic show, great dancers.

  • Benise concert

by Gypsy65 on 7/15/24Center Theatre at North Shore Center for the Performing Arts - SkokieRating: 5 out of 5

As always Benise puts on a great show. The music, dancers and whole experience was great! Very lively and entertaining. I encourage everyone to see him. I’ve been a fan since he was first featured on PBS many many years ago. The dance productions for each song compliments his music. The other musicians are equally as talented. A must see for everyone!.

  • It was OK

by CaseysMom on 7/15/24Center Theatre at North Shore Center for the Performing Arts - SkokieRating: 2 out of 5

A friend saw a PBS special on Benise & thought it'd be a nice couples outing. I thought the production was mediocre though the female dancers were very good. Benise is certainly no Eric Clapton level guitar player in my opinion. For the price of the tickets, I would have spent my money on some other concert & music.
