Bell Biv DeVoe on Tour

Since their days as members of the groundbreaking boy band New Edition, Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins and Ronnie DeVoe have known how to command an audience with soulful harmonies and fierce moves. As Bell Biv DeVoe, the trio specializes in what they call "hip-hop, smoothed out on the R&B tip with a pop feel (appeal) to it," and they bring that concept to the stage during their high-energy shows.

Bell Biv DeVoe in Concert

In the '80s, childhood friends Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins and Ronnie DeVoe exploded out of Roxbury, Massachusetts, as part of New Edition, the boy band that laid down the template for later acts like New Kids on the Block, the Backstreet Boys and One Direction. When New Edition went on hiatus in 1990, new jack swing pioneers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, who had worked with the group on hits like "If It Isn't Love," encouraged the three to splinter off and form their own act. Bell Biv DeVoe's first album, 1990's slick yet hard-edged Poison, was a smash, spawning videos that ruled MTV and singles that topped the United States' R&B charts. In 1993 they released their second album, Hootie Mack, which featured the Boogie Down Productions–sampling "Above the Rim" and the sultry slow jam "Something in Your Eyes." The trio took a break from releasing music until 2001, when they released BBD, which leaned into West Coast hip-hop influences while still showcasing the group's sensitive side on songs like "I Ain't Going Nowhere." In the years that followed, Bell, Bivins and DeVoe toured as part of New Edition's reunion tours, performing Bell Biv DeVoe sets as part of the show. 2017's Three Stripes, BBD's fourth album, showed off the trio's grown and sexy side as well as its appreciation of modern R&B trends.

This was my first concert experience in any sort of arena and it was well worth it. My husband I attended the concert and Bell Biv DeVoe made our money well spent. The whole event was entertaining, fun, live, interactive and engaging. It kept you wanting more from the beginning to the end. They are truly entertainers and could tell they are there to please the fans. Great Job Guys. Look forward to seeing you again.

  • BBD....great AS USUAL!!!

Can't say much more than that. They sang all their hits, some newer and classic NE. Audience interaction was off the hook! And as usual, they appreciate their fans. I just wish it had been in a larger facility with assigned seating.

Bell Biv Devoe had a great show. They did all they're hits as well as some New Edition hits. We had a great crowd, and BB Kings was a very nice location. Bell Biv Devoe are a class act.

We enjoyed what we did see of BBD but they came out very late and left early. The show was only about 45 mins long. I was expecting 90 mins.

THE GROUP STILL LOOKS AND SOUNDS THE SAME. THEY HAD THE SAME ENERGY WHEN I HAD FIRST SEEN THEM 25 YEARS AGO. RICKY BELL VOICE SOUNDS BETTER THAN EVER. THEIR NEW SONG HELLO IS OFF THE CHAIN.

  • The concert was too short

by Zette on 8/28/09IP CASINO RESORT AND SPA - BiloxiRating: 3 out of 5

I really enjoyed the songs that they did, but I really wanted to see more. It lasted around 45 minutes. The songs that they did were good, but they could of at least surprised the audience with a Ralph Tresvant appearance. An opening act, besides just the DJ, would've extended the concert out.

  • BBD was awesome!!!!

by Tamdre on 8/28/09IP CASINO RESORT AND SPA - BiloxiRating: 5 out of 5

The show was absolutely awesome! Bell Biv Devoe looked so great having been in the music industry for such a long time. I thought it was absolutely wonderful to see how great they looked, how they still sound...yea man; they have still got it!!! I could have stayed and listened to them all night long. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

OMG!!!! When I say those gentlemen hit the stage I felt 25 years old all over again!!!! I have been rocking with New Edition, Bobby Brown, Johnny Gill, Ralph Tresvant, and my Boyzs since they hit the scene!!!! Their stage presence was Outragous!!!! Them men are still smooth as butter! Rickey's silky Vocals had a sista straight going, going gone!!!! I had no idea that he sang all the vocals for these guys, he was terrific!!!! They have not changed in twenty-six years they are all so very fine and they have aged just like good wine, THEY JUST KEEP GETTING BETTER WITH TIME!!! Much love for the wonderful music fellas and the longevity that you have endured in this business you are truly ICONS in the game! Tee Mama

Growing up as a New Edition fan and to witness all those guys branch off and pursue their own careers is something special. BBD came with it and they really presented their fans a once in a lifetime show with a lot of fan participation. Everyone at the IP show were on their feet and really brought the house down along with BBD. Thanks to IP for bringing these guys to the Gulf Coast and hopefully they will bring the other (3) guys as well. I thought I would have troble with ticketmaster after I failed to receive my tickets in the mail. I called Customer Service and a wonderful lady helped me and assured me that my tickets will be availble for pickup at the venue box office. Once I arrived at the venue I showed my ID and was presented my (2) tickets so THANKS Ticketmaster for being professional and helpful. Much appreciated.
