About

BEAR HANDS IN CONCERT:

Brooklyn-based indie punk outfit Bear Hands have been clawing their way to the
top ever since the release of their 2014 LP Distraction. Whether they're
ripping through favorites like "Giants" or treating fans to earlier tracks from
their 2010 EP What A Drag, Bear Hands' gritty sound and high-energy stage
presence make for a live experience that's just as electrifying as their
recordings. On their latest tour the four-piece will deliver a series of
power-packed shows as both an opener for Cage the Elephant and a headlining act
on their own highly anticipated dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Formed by two Wesleyan University students in 2006, Bear Hands got their start
in the local hardcore punk scene, penning songs and playing gigs throughout the
New York area. The band quickly became well known among the NYC community,
generating significant buzz with their breakout EP Golden. Touring with several
big-time indie rock acts including MGMT, Passion Pit, and Vampire Weekend, Bear
Hands earned acclaim as a celebrated live act and gained a considerable cult
following along the way. With the release of 2014's Distraction came their
breakout track "Giants", which garnered major rotation on national radio and
put Bear Hands on the bill at a number of high-profile festivals. Back on the
road the band will have concertgoers dancing all night on a string of highly
anticipated tour dates.

    Out of the Basement

A great example of the energy a young band has to offer. Very skilled and very playful, Bear Hands played with a style and presense I wasn't expecting. They played about an hour and it certainly seemed longer. Time for them to go upstairs.

GREAT SHOW for all three bands. I must say that Bear Hands surprised me the most, my expectations were low, but i was more then proved wrong. i was grateful to hear two songs from their upcoming album. The guys were cool and i met some of the guys, they were cool. I'm excited to hear more from them, i even got a shirt. Says a lot for me, whose a skeptic.

    BearHands @ Bowery Ballroom

Good show. Solid performance by Bear Hands. New material was awesome. Opener Monogold was amazing and i bought their album the minute their set was finished. 2nd opener was Gordon Voidwell. My opinion is that he was totally wrong as an opener for Bear Hands. People were going crazy- totally high energy, lots of people dancing; really into him. It seemed like a huge energy plummet when Bear Hands started. Voidwell seems like a better opener for Gaga, Outcast, The Rapture? Someone who could keep up or top their energy. It just made Bear Hands seem a little lifeless. :/

So much yes. Bear Hands was incredible. Dale Earnhardt Jr Jr was fantastic. Missed the first opener. But really the entire night was a fantastic aural experience. Bear Hands is one of those bands that's even better live than you think they'd be, and you already think they'd be great.
