About

Beady Eye is proof that good things can come from break-ups. After the dissolution of Oasis, Liam Gallagher started Beady Eye with three other former members of Oasis — guitarists Andy Bell and Gem Archer and drummer, Chris Sharrock. They are often joined on tour by Jay Mehler, the former bassist with Kasabian. The band's first album, Different Gear, Still Speeding, was produced by Steve Lillywhite, who had previously worked with U2, Peter Gabriel and Morrissey, and released in November 2010 to largely positive reviews. Q magazine stated that the album was Liam Gallagher's best work since What's the Story Morning Glory? back in the early days of Oasis.
In Europe the album appeared on the band's own eponymous record label, while in America it was released through the Dangerbird Records label. Four Top 100 singles were released from the debut album, “Bring the Light,” “Millionaire,” “The Beat Goes On” and the most successful single from the album, “The Roller,” which peaked at number 31 on the singles chart. Beady Eye went on a mammoth nine-month tour from March to December 2011which took in the UK, USA and several European countries.
As well as performing their own original material, Beady Eye also perform several Oasis songs as part of their set, and they famously performed “Wonderwall” at the closing ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics. Beady Eye's second album, BE, was produced by Dave Sitek, who is highly regarded for his work with TV on the Radio, Jane's Addiction and Bat For Lashes, and went on sale in June 2013.
Despite Gallagher's previous assertions that he would never play it again, Beady Eye opened the Glastonbury Festival in June 2013 with an unannounced performance on the alternative Other Stage. The band's August 2013 tour, which included an appearance at the V Festival, had to be cut short because of a head injury to Gem Archer sustained at his home. As well as achieving considerable success, particularly in terms of album sales, in the UK and Ireland, Beady Eye also have a sizeable cult following in North America and Europe. In December 2013, it was announced that the band would be undertaking a European tour in 2014 which would include shows in 12 cities, including Barcelona, Lisbon and Paris.

    Beady Eye Another Great Show!

by Speeding on 12/11/11Terminal 5 - New York

Great atmosphere seeing Beady Eye in a venue like Terminal 5. The band loves New York and the vibe was so positive. Liam was interacting with the crowd and this debut set of songs is built for a live show. So many highlights but hearing the b-sides Man of Misery and In the Bubble With a Bullet made this show for me. Can't wait for the next cd and and selected shows in 2012

    LA show was epic

by galpsych on 12/6/11Wiltern Theater - Los Angeles

This is my second Beady Eye review for tickemaster, but then I saw them play in two venues! The San Francisco show was great, but the LA show was an epic rock & roll experience. In LA the audience was more excited, and this in turn got the band excited. They were smiling and moving around more than usual, and Liam was interacting with the crowd to an amazing degree. He signed autographs from the stage, even. He complimented my hair! It sounded great, it looked great, Liam was magnetic, and we in the front row were in a frenzy. I love Beady Eye's songs, which are straightforward British invasion rock, but even if I didn't I would check out a show just to have the opportunity to see one of the greatest rock & roll frontmen of our generation up close and personal. Oasis played stadiums, Beady Eye is playing clubs -- what a great treat for us fans.

    Rock & roll

by galpsych on 12/5/11Regency Ballroom - San Francisco

I saw Beady Eye at the Regency Ballroom in San Francisco on December 2, and although things got off to a slow start, by about the third or fourth song the band hit its stride and the show started rocking. The audience was a little bit small and restrained, but down in front the crowd was loving it. The band seemed to feel the lack of energy from the house, so they played to the front row rather than the rafters. That's okay, as I was in the front row! Liam is as magnetic as ever, maybe even too much so. The man is a born rock & roll star and well worth catching in a small venue. He dominates the stage and the songs, which are actually quite good. The songs are retro British invasion rock, "Beatles and Stones" (the name of one of the songs), and they are a lot of fun. The lights were distracting, however, sometimes illuminating the front row of the audience (where I was standing) and backlighting the band. I didn't come to see my fellow concert-goers, I came to see Liam Gallagher!

    Beady Eye Comes to S.F.

by ukrp7 on 12/5/11The Warfield - San Francisco

Let's face it. Liam Gallagher has one thing many don't, star power. This charismatic singer commands the stage like no other. The band took the stage at 10 pm and delivered an hour and twenty minute set of blistering great rock songs. Opening with Four Letter Word, and then soldiering on through all of the songs on their debut album, Different Gear Still Speeding. The band does great with this set of new songs. Oasis fans understand that this is not Oasis. That said, they sadly didn't turn out in numbers. The Regency Ballroom is 1,400 capacity and the room looked at about 700 in attendance. People who didn't see this show really missed out. Beady Eye rocks and commands the stage, period. Gem, Andy, and Chris, create a great rock band. The songs are stylish, full of melody, and just plain outstanding. I can't wait for this band to return to the Bay Area. Five Stars

the kid brother still has it

by someoldguy on 12/4/11The Warfield - San Francisco

Beady Eye hit the stage with a snarl and a swagger and Liam proved his point that he can write decent songs, albeit a little more lightweight than his brother. The songs actually sounded better live than on the CD, so maybe they missed Noel in the studio. Don't understand why there were fewer people at this than at the Noel concert 2 weeks ago. Noel was decent but restrained and although his singing voice was fair obviously lacked the live charisma of his brother, but the songs were a little more nuanced and he played some Oasis songs unlike Liam, who felt he had to prove that he didn't need those -and he didn't. Beady Eye definintely had more of the Beatles/Stones trashy rock star thing going on and ulimately that made for a slightly more satisfying show from Beady vs Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds

Check out the other brother instead

by MP3ME on 12/4/11The Warfield - San Francisco

Disappointing they weren't able to perform at the Warfield - turned out to be way overpriced to listen to them for an hour at the Regency Ballroom (although a very nice venue in itself). The sound system was way too loud for the small room, distorted the music to the point of being unrecognizable at some points - not to mention that the band seemed completely uninterested in what they were doing up there. Was the drummer the only one awake?! The lighting was more of a distraction than a cool part of the show. Bottom line - don't go expecting anything like Oasis.

BEADY EYE -- Liam and the band ROCK the REGENCY!!

by gregb on 12/4/11The Regency Ballroom - San Francisco

Liam Gallagher came to town with his new band BEADY EYE a short time after his brother Noel played to a huge audience at the Orpheum Theatre. Liam unfortunately picked a night when many events were in town, including STING & MY MORNING JACKET at other venues, so he played to a very small audience at the Regency Ballroom (the event originally scheduled for the Warfield). He still put on a very good show (a bit over an hour, so kind of short). While Noel (who wrote Oasis songs) could play them at his show, Liam plays mostly new Beady Eye stuff or covers. He was way off tune on his first song, but thereafter caught stride and sounded very good. His band is also very good. Unfortunately, most people who show up for Noel or Liam long for the two to reunite and bring OASIS back. Hopefully, they will fight a way to mend their differences

    Slow Start, Strong Finish

by andymacnoon on 12/2/11Showbox at the Market - Seattle

It was obvious from the first three or four songs that the band was suffering from tour fatigue. Liam’s voice didn’t have the magic and was a bit off-key at times. The band’s execution was more dutiful and mechanical than energetic. As a musician, I could empathize: they’d been on tour for months, probably opening the sets with the same songs (“Four Letter Word,” “Millionaire,” “Beatles and Stones”) and were pretty much going through the motions. As a listener, it was disappointing to have caught the band on what seemed to be an off-night. All of that changed in one song. Oddly enough, the song that flipped the energy switch was a pretty song, not a rocker—the lovely “For Anyone.” After just missing the highs in the first verse, Liam finally found himself (and the notes) in verse two. The band picked up on it, too; they all seemed wake up from the funk and pay more attention to each other and the music. To confirm that they were back on top of their game, they moved into a no-holds version of “Three Ring Circus,” a song that is simply perfect for Liam’s voice and style. “The Roller,” “Bring the Light,” and “Standing on the Edge of the Noise” brought the crowd to the point where they were no longer thinking about what they were hearing, they were just into the driving beat and energy of great rock and roll. When Liam announced “next one’s a slow one,” I was hoping for “Kill for a Dream” and my hopes were realized. Sometimes the shift from hard-drivers to a ballad can lose a crowd, but if anything, “Kill for a Dream” cemented the connection. Liam’s vocal on this one was one for the ages: a soulful, melodic rendition with that special edge that only he and a few others can deliver.

    Right between The Eyes

by Modrocker77 on 12/2/11Showbox at the Market - Seattle

Have been a solid fan from Definitely Maybe and knew just what to expect. If you've been to their shows or have the DVDs, you know what's up. Was a little nervous going in - didn't want anything to happen that would tarnish my love for the boys. All the internet squabbling and what not, I didn't want Liam to make me regret being a fan... Delivered on all accounts. The show was EXACTLY as good as I wanted it to be, they threw in 2 new songs, played most of the songs I wanted to hear from the album and generally DESTROYED. Would have loved to have heard from Liam a little more in between songs, but I can definitely say this show was NOT phoned in... If you're contemplating on going to one of their subsequent shows, DO IT! If you're not a fan of the genre, it might not work, but if you're even a casual fan, WELL WORTH IT...

Liam Gallagher: A Night to Remember Forever

by Iris1955 on 12/2/11Showbox at the Market - Seattle

Beady Eye was indescribable! They could pack a larger venue but seeing them in a smaller venue like the Showbox is other-worldly. Being able to see Liam Gallagher that close, the look in his eyes when he sings...well, it touches you to the bone. And it will LIVE FOREVER in my soul because when he jumped off the stage and came to greet the crowd, I TOUCHED HIS HAND, THREE TIMES!!! His voice was very on Wednesday night, clear and meaning the words he sings. Some talk says that he is a show man, smoke and no substance, but he is definitely an artist who loves his craft. It is a night I will hold in my mind forever! Thank you Liam and Beady Eye!

Fantastic show. Anyone who is a huge Oasis fan/follower would have a great time at this show. Beady Eye's sound and style encompasses band styles from the '60's to today much like Oasis did.

Beady Eye at Webster Hall NY

by Speeding on 6/25/11Webster Hall - New York

Liam sounded amazing and the band rocked. I thought the crowd was into every song. If anyone has the chance to see Beady Eye live in the coming months they should not be missed. I thought the new songs were built to be played live as they flowed perfectly. Highlights were the opening track Yellow Tail that should be on the next record and then straight into Four Letter Word and Beatles & Stones. Loved Man of Misery, Two of a Kind, Bring the Light, Wigwam. Fantastic debut cd so if you don't have it buy it now as you will not be disappointed! Five stars for this show and should make a great start to the summer concerts to come.
