Bat on Tour
In the '70s, few rock albums were as ambitious as Meat Loaf's 1977 debut effort Bat Out of Hell. Produced by Todd Rundgren, the album spawned hits such as "Paradise by the Dashboard Light," "Two Out of Three Ain't Bad" and "You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth (Hot Summer Night)." Today, these songs — and other Meat Loaf hits, including 1993's "I'd Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That)" — live on in concert thanks to Bat. The troupe is fronted by American Idol Season 13 winner Caleb Johnson, who boasts a theatrical rock star voice with plenty of soul power, while music is provided by the Neverland Express, Meat Loaf's official band. The end result is a tribute show that captures the epic, timeless nature of this music while bringing modern urgency to the sound.
Bat in Concert
Bat started playing shows in fall 2018, and had a solid pedigree from day one. In fact, both Meat Loaf and the music's composer, Jim Steinman, approve of the musical approach, and the show is produced by Meat Loaf director/guitarist Paul Cook. Of course, it also helps that Caleb Johnson fronts Bat, since he is no stranger to touring with rock bands: Prior to being on American Idol, the North Carolina native was in the band Elijah Hooker, and in 2019 released the album Born from Southern Ground under the name Caleb Johnson & The Ramblin' Saints. Johnson has also appeared on Trans-Siberian Orchestra's 2018 Ghosts of Christmas Eve tour.
The powerful vocalist won the 13th season of American Idol on the strength of his inspired, rock 'n' roll song choices, including the Rolling Stones' "Sympathy for the Devil," Rush's "Working Man," Aerosmith's "Dream On" and Paul McCartney's "Maybe I'm Amazed." In the wake of his win, Johnson released his debut album, Testify, in 2014.

Excellwnt tribute to Meatloaf! And the homage in the beginning was great!
It was the best thing EVER! Caleb has nailed this and will be a rock star. Everything about it was perfection.
The show was done well. The intro of the life of Meatloaf was different and enlightening. Caleb Johnson was amazing and all the songs were performed well. The band was excellent. Would’ve liked it a little longer, but overall it was great!
It was great! He sounded just like meatloaf when you can hear him… I would like to have had the singer a tad louder than the instruments as I thought they were a tad too loud, but it was great! We loved how he came in the audience!
If you love the music of Meatloaf, do not miss this show. Truly a great show with fantastic musicians.
Started right on time. Had a great time. Nice of the stuff to allow people to approach the stage and dance with the band
Caleb was an excellent choice to lead the tribute to MeatLoaf. He has the physical characteristics and the voice to match. I've seen both Caleb's version of Meat Loaf and Meat Loaf's version (at the tail end of his career), and Caleb's was much more enjoyable. Also, it was in a great venue. Worth the money, for certain!!!
And absolutely incredible performance. Caleb Johnson and his band captured the essence of Meatloaf. Both Caleb and his back up singers tour of the house down with their vocals. The instrumental was equally impressive and I wish the two-hour performance could’ve gone on even longer. If you were a true Meatloaf and you do not want to miss this show.
What a great concert! You would never know (without looking) that this was not a Meatloaf concert. Kudo's to Caleb for honoring so humbly the great meatloaf himself. Highly recommend this venue and this band.
