BAND-MAID on Tour

Punk rock and heavy metal are often described as loud, fast-paced and aggressive in composition, but also made famous for a style that challenges the establishment and preconceived notion of what music can be. What could be more punk rock and heavy metal in the 21st century than BAND-MAID, an all-female Japanese rock group who cos-play as French maids and shred just as hard as metal legends like Metallica, Slayer or Mastodon? Find out for yourself when they visit your city for the BAND-MAID US TOUR 2022. The group will hit 14 cities over four weeks, including San Diego, Seattle, Dallas, Houston and more. Audience members rave about BAND-MAID's live performances, calling their high-octane music "incredible," and "epic." The rock group is known best for their 2018 album World Domination, which features popular singles like "Domination" and "Dice." The album reached No. 9 on the Japanese Oricon Albums chart. In 202, the group released the three-track EP Sense, which quickly garnered more than 3 million streams on Spotify. Catch BAND-MAID when on tour when they come to a city near you.

BAND-MAID Live in Concert

Self-described (and independently confirmed) as an "impossibly hard rocking, five-piece, all-female Japanese rock band," BAND-MAID formed in 2013 and has been rocking the stage and studio ever since. The group -- consisting of Miku (guitar and vocals), Saiki (lead vocals), Kanami (guitar), Akane (drums) and Misa (bass) -- thematically built their image on dressing in maid/anime costumes and calling their fans "masters" and "princesses." While their image combined with their fiery and aggressive sound create a contrasting style, they've compiled a massive following, both domestic and international. In 2015, they caught the attention of fans in Japan with their LP New Beginning, which charted at No. 64 on the Japanese Oricon Albums chart. They followed that up with 2016's Brand New Maid (which reached No. 19 on the charts) and an international tour in 2016. Other popular album releases include 2017's Just Bring It and World Domination the following year.

    We need more of this!

by Soyfishdocsteve on 10/1/19The Cambridge Room at House Of Blues - Dallas

The Band-Maid concert in Dallas was simply the best concert I've been to all year, and that is including seeing both Iron Maiden and Metallica. This young band from Japan is bringing back high energy rock and roll that seems to have been struggling for an identity for quite some time. I saw Band-Maid previously in San Francisco, and in the two years between shows, they have improved tremendously in their performance, and their English skills. Each member of the band is highly skilled at their craft, and they all know how to engage audience members so everyone has fun. It was amazing to hear the entire crowd sing along to every song. I hope that their new relationship with Live Nation and the fact that they sold out all of their US shows on this tour means that they will start to come to the US more often, with more shows. If you haven't seen Band-Maid, you are missing out. They are in my top 4 bands to see live, along with Metallica, Iron Maiden and Foo Fighters. Yes, they're that good.

    Great Show, but.........

by FordGuy2001 on 10/1/19The Cambridge Room at House Of Blues - Dallas

First off, Band Maid is so freaking awesome!! Words can’t even come close to describing them! Been waiting for a while for them to come close enough for me to be able to see them and finally they did. The 165 mile drive was practically non existent. The energy and charm that these talented young ladies have is beyond belief. The only complaint I had was the stage was too low and no riser for the drummer Akane. Being half way back in the crowd made it extremely hard to get a good view of them. Would I go again to this same room? Hell Yeah!!!! Just my thoughts on some improvement on behalf of House of Blues is all I’m saying here.

    Incredible Concert, Incredible Band!!

by kirkscott2 on 10/1/19The Cambridge Room at House Of Blues - Dallas

This was what I would call World Domination. I the most wonderful time meeting these five talented ladies during the meet and greet. But, then the concert itself was just something everyone should experience. The crowd was rocking out. It is my opinion that these ladies need a larger venue. They sell out everywhere they go. And I think their popularity will continue to grow. How can you not love these hard rocking ladies from Japan. They put the guys to shame! I have seen many rock concerts since the 70s, and I see a group that is on the verge of world stardom. More cities should be added, but I would gladly fly in from Florida again.

    Band-Maid: World's best live band?

by Dan Harris on 10/1/19The Cambridge Room at House Of Blues - Dallas

The band was epic. Everything I expected. I met the band before the show and they were all charming and gracious, even though I can't speak any Japanese. The show was 1:45 of non-stop rock, with a couple of short breaks while Miku Kobato acted as an MC. The crowd was the most polite rock and roll crowd I've seen. They enhanced the whole experience. The staff at the House of Blues were helpful and professional. The downsize was the venue was too small, the stage was too low, Kanami's guitar was mixed too low and Akane needed to be on a riser, from where I was she was invisible to me. But I would do this again in a heartbeat.

    A great band in a not-so-great venue.

by C. C. on 10/1/19The Cambridge Room at House Of Blues - Dallas

I love the main room of House of Blues. Seeing Band-Maid was the first time I've gone to the Cambridge room. That being said, it was below average. The stage was too low, the sound was all over the place, and the bar was SUPER expensive. Some subjective complaints include a dead crowd not really doing anything until about halfway and some rude people being openly racist and mocking to the band members. Aside from that, the band themselves were absolutely FANTASTIC! They tore that tiny room open and gave it their all. I'd love to see them again, but somewhere like Southside Ballroom in Dallas would be preferred. I think they would work excellent there.

    Blistering hard rock from Japan

by the Zerpent on 9/30/19Gramercy Theatre - New York

Band-Maid, an all-female hard rock band from Japan played a blistering set of about two dozen songs on September 26 at the Gramercy Theatre in NYC. While waiting in a queue to enter, I enjoyed speaking with enthusiastic fans from all over the eastern US and even from Japan. I myself traveled from Buffalo to catch this first ever serving by Band-Maid in eastern North America. Everyone was well-behaved and patient. The VIP meet and greet was well organized and the band members seemed genuinely happy to meet their American fans. Thanks for the autographs! The venue has a mix of floor space and seating toward the rear arranged in echelon, so hopefully everyone who attended this sold-out show enjoyed a good view. Classic songs like "Thrill" and "Freedom" were not forgotten, but obviously strong newer songs like "Bubble", "Hide-and-Seek" and "Endless Story" were presented as well. There was a new instrumental number (not "onset") and Akane performed a short drum solo. Though I would have liked to have heard the older ballad "Before Yesterday" or the bluesy guitar solo Kanami performed on the recent European tour, I thought the set list was very strong. With five albums (and another due out this December), Band-Maid already has about seventy songs from which to choose. Miku provided some entertaining moments whipping up the crowd, and Saiki was quite animated while singing. Though I certainly would put the focus squarely on their music, I would be remiss if I didn't mention that these five young women are quite lovely and their maid costumes are both cute and a bit sexy. If you find the whole maid costume bit rather odd, read up on maid cafes in Japan or portrayals of these cafes in manga and anime. The "gap" between the fluffy expectation one has based on their look and the hard rock, borderline metal they actually play reminds me of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" where her cute young appearance contrasts with the reality of her destroying vampires, saving the world and so on. The techs also deserve praise as I didn't notice any problems with the sound. Thankfully, Miku's vocals (and Kanami's) were not buried. Growing up in the eighties, so many of my favorite bands from back then are getting rather long in the tooth or are simply no longer around. To see a great young band in their prime is so exhilarating. This band is so tight! Hopefully next tour they can visit more cities (how about Toronto?). Or maybe I should start saving up for a trip to Japan? I can't wait to see them again!

Band-Maid Great, Sound System Not So Great

by kcgato on 9/29/19Gramercy Theatre - New York

The sound mix was bad for the acoustics of the room. The drums sounded good but all else was overdriven to the point of distortion.

    Fantastic show

Only thing would be is the meet & greet was only going through a line to get a postcard signed with no picture or really time to say anything.

    Great performance

by Max on 9/29/19Gramercy Theatre - New York

All 5 girls were on it and delivered. They played for about 2 hours and gave us non stop hard hitting rock n roll! This was the best show I’ve been to in a while and I will be for sure going to their show next year when they come back to the states.
