    Beautiful Dancing!

by schhera on 2/23/16Morrison Center for the Performing Arts - Boise

This performance by Ballet Idaho was a unique treat! There were 4 wonderful dance pieces, each very different. The first was a classic Balanchine ballet and Elizabeth Barreto was an exquisite lead! The second piece was interesting and different, but still a beautiful ballet number with the principal dancers. Scheherazade was brought out again (this number was done a couple of years ago) and it was a fantastically danced story. The stage setting, although simple, really made the story come to life. Phyllis Affrunti danced a striking Scheherazade once again. The final piece, Nine Sinatra Songs, was a real treat for the audience. The number used all of their fabulous principal dancers in a 50's type dance club setting. It is such a great opportunity for Boise to have a professional ballet company in its midst. I would recommend seeing their productions.

They could have danced all night

We wished the dancing to Frank Sinatra music had gone on and on. Nine numbers were not enough. The time flew by and we were enchanted. It was marvelous that eighteen such accomplished dancers were on display in Boise. What a wonderful way to spend a Friday evening.

Ballet Idaho has really improved on their dancing, choreography, and musicality since the last time we saw them. It was a truly enjoyable evening, and we look forward to seeing them dance again.
