Well, the monotonous rhythms of Bajofondo's efforts were pathetic in contrast to their dynamic and intoxicating TANGO mixes. The male voices were very weak with no distinction in tones. It was like watching teenage want-to-be rockers. What can I say, my 1st set of favorite rock groups included Buffalo Springfield, Three Dog Night, Iron Butterfly, Jefferson Airplane ... and, the list goes on and on. I must give 5 stars for the acoustic classical guitar, it was a beautiful surprise. However, in regards to what they consider rock-n-roll, well, I guess you'd have to be from South America to understand it and appreciate the tedious simplicity of it. When asking an Argentinean for a critique, they said the TANGO melody "Montserrat" will be their single claim to fame. UCLA students made the event charming with the pre-concert TANGO lesson and milonga.
This venue is amazing, organized, any seat on the theater is great. The sound is very clear, the lighting is perfect. Love the events on the patio before the concert.
All are excellent musicians. The energy level was high!
One of the bands that LIVE is so much better!!! Song list, performance and the engagement with the crowd was something I don't see much often in LIVE concerts.
The evening went beyond my expectations. Highly talented musicians who love to experiment and build layers with their sounds. Their show comes together wonderfully with the lights and the video collage.
as an Argentinian, Im so glad they could represent Argentina so good
Great musics and show!!!!! Great Performance!!! Sooooooooo energetic and happy!!!! LOVE it!!!!
I have seen Bajofondo perform before at The El Rey and I loved the energy then and also on this night at Royce. I have to say I prefer a more intimate venue in which to see these amazing musicians perform. Royce Hall is grand, but it was a very different experience being on the balcony and not right under their noses the way I was at the El Rey. Still, whether near or far, you will enjoy the show. I love the way they invite the crowd up on stage with them at the end. I was one of those people at The El Rey. It was a great performance and I especially loved hearing their new songs on their upcoming album. I can't recommend seeing them live enough. It's a great experience!
Gustavo Santaolalla was passionate and enjoyed any single moment. The band was impeccable, consistent and fun! We danced all night. The violinist, incredible!
I've seen Bajofondo every time they came to L.A.. It doesn't happen too often so I cherish every opportunity. This show was amazing, with new music and the most compelling performance. Their music is complex and beautiful and yet, they made us rock!!!! I loved the venue and the personnel was very nice and friendly making the experience even better.
I've been listening to Bajofondo for many years but never had an opportunity to see them in person until last Tuesday night. Talk about getting your socks blown off! This ensemble put on the best show I've experienced in a very long time. They played a nice combination of new & old work. Their cohesiveness was amazing. They all connected very well with the audience which made for a great interaction. We were 'allowed' to get up & dance which certainly added to the enjoyment. The concert was over 2 hours of absolutely perfectly delivered music. I can't wait to see them again! BRAVO!!
At first I was disappointed because the show was at a Synagogue and we were all sitting in the pews, but after a few songs people got up and walked to the front to jump around and dance, after this happened the show was great, lots of energy and amazing music.
