Ax and the Hatchetmen is a seven-piece Chicago-based indie rock band comprised of Axel Ellis (Vocals/Guitar), Kenny Olzewski, (vocals/guitar), Sal Defilippis (vocals/guitar), Hunter Olshefke (vocals/bass), Nick Deputy (drums), Phil Pistone (trumpet) and Quinn Dolan (saxophone). Their innovative music gives a wall of sound created by harmonies of the three guitars, the depth of the bass, and the floating melodies of the horn and sax. Lyrics that really tell a story, coupled with the energy of Ellis and Olzewski’s vocals, make them incredible on headphones and invigorating live. The group’s genre falls somewhere between indie rock, alternative, beach rock and jazz. Many of the members studied conservatory-style jazz in high school, and implemented those techniques and styles into their music with improv.

It was such an amazing time. The band was great, the venue was great. Truly, all around it was just such a great experience.
The standing venue worked out great, I was able to be about 5 people away from the stage. Sometimes the lights were a bit overwhelming but added a cool ambiance. Sound was unmatched, you can clearly hear different instruments at different times and didn't leave my ears ringing afterwards.
My son is friends with Quinn and suggested that we check them out. We watched various U-Tube vids to get more. The live show was great. They played with a lot of energy and intensity. I would recommend seeing them. At 65 I was for sure the oldest person there, but hey, you're never too old to have a good time.
Had a really good time watching them because it was a fun set with a lot of energy and really good sound.
Saw them in KC, they’re so silly and provided fun interactions with the crowd. Music was amazing as per usual. These boys slayed
Saw them in Phoenix at the Rebel Lounge and they were awesome to watch. Their music sounded good live and they seem like down to earth guys. They also greeted everyone after the show, gave autographs, and took pictures with them.
These guys are slaying it. Their new music is next-level.
This show was so good that I had to get tickets for the show the following day! The music, the energy, the crowd - everything was just amazing
Great concert, best opener I have ever seen in Rec Hall, great choice.
Loved the sound of this band, Ax and the Hatchetmen. Their energy and vocals are out of this world. The guitars are crazy good. But mostly loved hearing the horns with the whole band. They really make the band well-rounded. Can't wait to see them again. Loved this new venue. The sound system was the best I have heard in a long time.
