About

Since its formation by multi-talented musician and songwriter Aaron Bruno in 2010, AWOLNATION has redefined alternative music. With multiple radio hits at the alternative format, including 8 Top Fives and 2 Number Ones, the act has inarguably already made a permanent mark, not just in their genre, but across modern music. Most notably, the chart-topping, record-breaking, diamond-certified track "Sail" created a reference soundscape for a myriad of hits in the last decade. That song launched a career that already spans four albums. Megalithic Symphony, the platinum debut LP that also produced the gold certified "Not Your Fault" and two other Top 10 US singles. Sophomore album Run arrived in 2015, and the follow-up, Here Come The Runts, came in 2018. Then entering a creative partnership with current label Better Noise music, the band's fourth full-length album, ANGEL MINERS & THE LIGHTNING RIDERS, featuring the hit single "The Best," was released on April 24, 2020, and features collaborations with Rivers Cuomo of Weezer and Alex Ebert of Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros. In their positive review of the project, AllMusic calls it, "an energetic, fun, and compulsively listenable set that distills the best of what AWOLNATION can do: making pop-savvy, dance-friendly, alternative rock anthems that are not bound to traditional genre conventions."

That boundary breaking of genres continued in Bruno's creative calling, even more so as the world shut down in 2020. While quarantining, Bruno had the idea to celebrate music unapologetically with a team of talented friends - new and old. The result is the new album My Echo, My Shadow, My Covers and Me, a collection of unexpected yet passionately crafted covers and collaborations. Launched with the first single in January 2022, a powerful rendition of "Wind of Change," featuring Portugal the Man and Brandon Boyd of Incubus, the album also features guest performances by Beck, Rise Against, Jewel, grouplove and many others. The homage paid to each song's original artist is just as fun to dive into as the mutual respect heard in every note from both AWOLNATION and guests.

Recently, AWOLNATION has brought venues to capacity like The Fillmore (Minneapolis) and the T-Mobile Center (Kansas City).

    AWOOOOLLLLNNNATION!!!

by OzzyGirl on 4/9/11Showbox SODO - Seattle

This band is the greatest band since bands were invented. The show was phenomenal. They were energetic and fun and engaged the crowd and it was frickin fantastic. The two opening bands sucked.

    AWOLNATION was AWESOME!

    by Stef5 on 4/9/11Showbox SODO - Seattle

It was our first time seeing a show at the Showbox SODO, AWOLNATION brought us out to the club. The ShowBox SODO was so much nicer than what the reviews were that we had read. AWOLNATION did not disappoint, they brought their A -Game with a high energy packed show. It was a fun show for all that attended, plus I got to hear all of my favorite songs performed that night. My husband and I are serious music lovers and attend many shows and concerts a year. It was a two thumbs up event for the both of us.

Awolnation was awesome, but I hate the wait time for the opener band at Sodo. Was definitely tempted to leave...

Pretty much the most amazing concert I've ever been too. I did arrive late, so I didn't see the first two performers, but AWOLNATION brought it. I thought the liver performance would't be as amazing as the album versions, but my god, was I wrong. It was so much better. When people tried to crowd surf at first, the security guards quickly put an end to it, but when the lead singer announced that he wanted to see how many people we could get to go crowd surfing at one time, the security guards didn't interfere as long as they weren't on the stage. I was lucky enough to be brought on stage, met the lead singer, Aaron Bruno, and he sent me back into the crowd instead of being escorted off by security. Over all, it was an amazing night, with an amazing setlist. I would recommend it to everyone I know.

I thought the entire show was pretty forgettable. Glad tickets were only $15. Probably won't go to see any of them again.

AN put on a great show and it was nice to see familair faces on stage, former Blind Melon guitar & Shannons wife & Daughter, always good to see them doing welll. Bruno is one creative dude, can't wait to see the show everytime he comes to town. Dead Man's Grill, opening, was a nice surprise, hope to see more in the future!

With high expectations of a live performance from musicans with great music my expectations were blown away. Begining with the first set, "Filthy Guilty Soul", and throughout the whole performance AWOLNation delivered high energy presences that was not only infectious, but commanded to be shared with the audience. Bruno displayed his range of talent by rotating through the instruments, but it was when he was on drums for "Knights Of Shame" followed by everyone on stage beating the heck out of a percussion instrument that I wanted to kick off my shoes and join the drum circle. . .wait I don't live in Boulder anymore. The audience itself was diverse in age, race, and gender. Best summed was in meeting a business man in town from Waxhington DC who happened upon the concert/venue and is now a proud AN fan! All of this while I had a sinus and ear infection :( I can't imagine if I were healthy! Hopefully I will have the chance to see them again soon with no illness. Go DAWGS!!!!!

One of the best shows I have been to. Before the show I just liked awol but after seeing them live I have become obsessed. They are truly amazing. You don't see many front men jumping into the crowd. I will go to their shows anytime they are close and i recommend them to everyone.

    Good Show

    by BooBear84 on 3/28/11Vogue Theatre - Indianapolis

I have never seen Awolnation in concert but they did put on a nice show and had the crowd pumped. I really enjoyed the first band that played DMG though which I was excited to be able to be introduced to more music I enjoy. I did find out that I didnt get into much of Awolnations music besides the most common song that is played on the radio "Sail" but all together it was a good show...

Absolutely amazing, The Vogue was extremely crowded, and the drinks were outrageous, but the concert was great!

Great time! Great venue! Steep drink prices, but admission was only $5, so I can't complain. AWOL NATION ROCKS! Also, Xero Sum, keep up the good work. Can't wait to see you guys again!

    Absolutely Great

by MDodson on 3/27/11The Vogue - Indianapolis

I got to the Vogue about an hour after they opened up and about an hour after that AN played. They did AMAZING. They sounded great. Aaron Bruno seems like a great guy, he interacted with the crowd a lot. 3 guys from the band actually passed by me when they were leaving the VIP area. And the next night I found out a couple of them stayed across the room from me at the hotel I was staying at. Which is really awesome. I did not care for the opening acts, but staying there for all of the amazing AWOLNATION songs was worth so much! I'm sad I didn't stay behind to get him to sign something.

    AWOLNATION Was Awesome!!!

    by jgivens666 on 3/27/11Vogue Theatre - Indianapolis

All 3 bands were great, and the fact that tickets were only $5 made it that much better. Having local bands kick off the night was great too. Loved it.
