The show was incredible. My first time seeing AZ and my only complaint about them was they didn't play my fav song "Solitude". Can't blame em tho. They have alot to play with. The venue however did suck as there was no ventilation and everyone's smoke just made the air way harsh on the lungs. I even saw one guy with a surgical mask on to deal with the smoke. As awesome as this band is they def could've been in a much larger venue like the State Theatre or The Ritz Ybor.
great band in the studio. absolutely amazing in person!
Loud, fun, & rowdy. Ton of energy in a small venue. Great opening bands as well.
Well to begin with I could not find a band lineup anywhere. So a Sunday show with doors at 8, I figured it may just be authority zero. Lionize and Flatfoot 56 got people moving though it was pretty awesome variety of music. All 100 of us that braved the Detroit cold got to see some great musicians. When Authority got to play everyone was ready to go and they did not disappoint. Great presence and interaction, really just a sweet low press (i didn't see an add for it anywhere) show and only $10 to boot.
Authority Zero has everything you could hope for, and they never disappoint! All four of them give full energy every show, this one being no exception. GO SEE THEM!! and get their new album Stories of Survival. Get the other ones too, if you haven't yet. This band always leaves you wanting more and more and more :) Also, check out Lionize. They were an amazing opening act, throwing together blues and reggae to make a beautiful new genre of their own.
Unfortunately, Authority Zero did not get the mix they deserved. The lead vox sounded like they were being sung through a playskool microphone and the B.U. vox and guitars were lost in a cymbals heavy P.A. mix. I spoke to the sound man because I care and I got cursed at. Oh well. I had to leave early after listening from different points in the room failed to yield better results. Possibly for those very familiar with this band, the mix was not as big a deal. Why is that? Well, if you're very familiar with a band, your brain will tend to hear the music in its recorded version as you listen to them live. This however, does no good if you're hearing the band for the first time. Whole Wheat Bread, the opening act had a definite spark in the middle of their set which was a mix of punk, rap, and reggae\ska. They seemed to wane a little toward the end though as far as strength of material goes. Nevertheless, they have definite potential, mostly based on their solid musicianship.
Soooooooooooo Good! Can't wait fort hem to come back here again!
They continue to make me proud to call them my favorite band! They put on such an awesome show and they all have so much energy. They are engaging and entertaining as they crack jokes with each other between songs. They are personable, which I found out when I got to meet them before their performance. I have seen them twice live and they are by far, have the best live performance shows ever! Can't wait until they come around here again!
They were amazing - They brought so much energy to South Florida!!! Whole Wheat Bread was great as well (bought their CD) - Definitely going to see Authority Zero when they come back in September!
Although the small stage was probably the reason Jason was less energetic than usual, he was still all over the place & SUPER HIGH energy!!!! He totally makes the band, good thing since he's the only "close to original" member they have.
Opening bands all sucked. I mean cmon one guy was like a overage Eminem but way way worse...
