Atmosphere on Tour
Since the mid '90s, Minneapolis duo Atmosphere have built one of the defining careers of independent hip-hop - especially due to their frequent, commanding live performances. Atmosphere shows have been known to include freestyles, feats of turntablism and, of course, rapper Slug's deeply emotional lyrics and asides. In the early years, Atmosphere toured with the DIY determination of a punk band, and ultimately landed on the 2003, 2004 and 2005 editions of the Vans Warped Tour. Thanks to their electric live shows and dedicated fan base, Atmosphere have appeared at Bonnaroo, Coachella, Lollapalooza, Bumbershoot, Governors Ball, the HFStival and more, as well as headlining treks like 2008's Paint the Nation tour, 2011's The Family Vacation tour, 2014's North of Hell tour and 2018's Mi Vida Local tour. In 2008, Slug and his Rhymesayers label co-owners founded Soundset, an annual music festival in Minneapolis which has since become America's premiere hip-hop gathering. Atmosphere performs every year, of course, and guests have included Kendrick Lamar, Lil Wayne, Migos, Lauryn Hill, Future, Nas, Snoop Dogg and many more.
Atmosphere in Concert
Atmosphere - rapper Sean "Slug" Daley and DJ/producer Anthony "Ant" Davis - have built one of independent rap's defining empires. In 1995, Slug cofounded the Rhymesayers Entertainment record label in his hometown of Minneapolis, releasing freestyle and live performance cassettes of his crew Headshots. Atmosphere's debut album, 1997's Overcast!, promptly became a galvanizing moment for both Minneapolis rap and the personal, confessional style of underground rap that would follow. The group's deeply emotional and personal lyrics and intense touring schedule made them allies with the punk and alternative rock communities, and 2003's Seven's Travels was released in conjunction with Epitaph Records. Atmosphere have released nine albums on Rhymesayers and have collaborated with Tom Waits, Doom, El-P and more. Slug has appeared on tracks by Aesop Rock, Sage Francis, Blowfly, Brother Ali and more.
Outstanding, energetic and brought the ceiling down.
Obviously Atmosphere was awesome. The staff in the venue was also great. Can’t wait for the next one.
Took my three sons and it was a great time. Perfect venue to see a hip hop show
Had an amazing time. It was raining so they let us in to the venue. Had music playing. Merch booth open and the bar open. Had such a fun time always a good time when you make party with atmosphere. Never disappoints. The “ATMOSPHERE” was amazing with everyone partying together. Definitely waiting patiently for the next show.
I love this venue. The sound has really improved over the years, the bar lines are short but man o man it has become crowded! To the point where the only place you can stand to get some space is in a bathroom stall. I’d love for the capacity to be cut back a bit just so people had a little breathing room.
Slug came out and greeted us all in line didn’t expect that this time but it was amazing only thing is we would like if you guys added where we can park
I’ve seen Atmosphere at the knit here in Spokane 4 times and 2 times at the pavilion and this show was really well done and more packed than the others before! Security was on point. Shout out to the girl who had to chase me down and grab my arm to take me out of VIP. We almost made it but she got it handled 🙌🏼
Slug and Ant killed it, as always! Great set list and great opening. Been a fan since I was in high school and finally got to see them live! Best day
Atmosphere was amazing as he always is!! No complaints on Atmosphere or his opening band no fun. But for real and honestly…The knitting factory sound and space sucks for Atmosphere. And they kick people out for the stupidest things… the sound is not great in that tiny space. Plus they were turning people away due to compacity issues Please choose a different venue next time, or come in the summer and play outside again. Spokane loves atmosphere!! We will always show up for him.
Definitely would pay to go see them again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This was my 5th time seeing Atmosphere!! And I am blown the heck away every single time. We got to meet Slug finally in Portland Maine! It was beyond everything we imagined it would be! Thank you so much for makin music.
Had room to dance and sing along to all of my favorite songs. Slug from atmosphere is so personable with the crowd and the most brilliant lyricist. Ant’s beats are incredible. I got to see the show with my brother we grew up on their music. It was the best night! Thank you!!
Slug and his crew put on an awesome show. He played some of his best oldies, and some great new music as well. Peace and love and unity is what you'll feel at his show. 10/10.
Unbelievable. Set list ewas amazing. Did a little of everything 10/10!!
Homie is 50 and still coming with that lit ass energy
The Aztec is a amazing venue. Up close and intimate shows with my favorite artist every time. The building is one of a kind and beautiful. Must attend a show at least once for the whole experience. It won't disappoint. Drinks are super expense but that's every concert or show
Great atmosphere and people. Professional staff and very exciting getting to meet the group! Set was great! Visuals and sound… amazing!
Atmosphere was incredible but I feel like 2.5 hours of openers was waaayyyy too long. Everyone in the crowd died out during the DJ set! I waited 20 years to see Atmosphere and once they come on, it was amazing. Shorten that opening set tho.
I’ve been a HUGE Atmosphere fan since back in 2000. I fell in love with their stuff and have been ever since. They have not once put out a bad song. Seeing them live gave me chills. It was a small venue in Cleveland called the Grog Shop back in 2003 and it was so small I stood on the stage and Slug’s sweat was being thrown on me. They amazed me and everyone else there. Afterwards I hung around and saw Sean leave a back room (the place was terribly small) and I caught him. He gave me a big hug, signed my phone at the time (had a black atmosphere shirt on) and thanked me for being a loyal fan. Dude is humble and kind… I just don’t know how someone can’t like these guys. They just BLOW MY MIND! Love ya Sean! Keep it going!!!
Ive only been to 1 music festivals (Aftershock 3 days in) and 1 concert (tech n9ne), untill seeing Atmosphere... definitely blew me away with the performance though, reacting with the crowd, amount of songs and adding his own touch to everything. Literally sounded better live. Great concert 10/10. Only thing that annoyed me a bit was the tickets I bought aperently seperated me and my friends but thats probably mb idk, I thought it was all general admission but there were sections...
