About

For over two decades, Atmosphere has maintained a course of rigorous output, releasing over two dozen studio albums, EP's and collaborative side projects in as many years. In that time, the venerated duo have built a legacy out of bringing honesty, humility and vulnerability to the forefront of their music, continually challenging themselves to evolve without straying too far from their roots. Slug has proven masterful at storytelling and writing compelling narratives, leaving a trail of his own influence while paying homage to the rappers and songwriters that helped shape him. Ant has skillfully molded the soundtracks with inspiration from soul, funk, rock, reggae, and the wizardry of hip-hop's pioneering DJ's and producers, creating his own trademark sounds while providing the pulse for songs about life, love, stress and setbacks. At its essence, Atmosphere has been a musical shepherd, and with each new album comes a new journey as they guide generations of listeners through this thing called life.

Once again slug and ant brought a great show on the road. You can never go wrong with an atmosphere show. No questions asked. Eyedea and abilities showcased their new style which is sure to be a hit.

  • Atmosphere was UNREAL!!!!!

Show was amazing, to begin meeting slug and ant outside in line waiting to enter was one of the coolest things. Setlist was great and opening acts were great. I highly recommend going to see this show every chance you get

  • Great Show...

Slug and Ant, plus musicians were great. Enjoyed the show. Webster Hall could have bumped the air conditioning, kind of a sweat box. Overall, Great...

  • Atmosphere and Eyedea & Abilities = awesome

by sergiothatguy on 7/28/09Webster Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Slug and Eyedea had really good energy and definitely had the crowd jumping. When Atmosphere came out, I thought the floor was going to collapse beneath me! Slug did a lot of older songs, and a few newer ones in addition to the setlist I wrote.

  • Incredible.

Hands down best concert I've been too. Bar none. Slug even came out and shook everyone's hand and took pictures before the show when we were standing in line to show appreciation for our support. Literally every single person. The show was sold out and he was out there for at least an hour.

  • ATMOSPHERE IS AWESOME!!

  • Best atmosphere show i've been to

    by NCB1984 on 7/28/09Webster Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Maybe it was the fanatic crowd.. maybe it was having Ant w/ him (swaggering in the background with a cigarette that only left his lips for beer)... b/c lets be honest i dont know anyone that was crazy about last tour's full band... maybe it was that slug feels hot again now that he cut his hair and lost the creeper 'stache... but whatever the reason, or combination of reasons, this was the best performance by atmosphere i've ever seen. and i've been to a few.. he was on fire, loving the crowd, flirting with everyone.. making eyes at all the pretty girls, singing and waving into video taping iphones. he joked with the crowd that we were all super young.. and we were. but it was a great crowd, the beats were amazing, everyone was dancing, and sweating like pigs. and they all love atmosphere. A bit of awkwardness during Vanity Sick when he was clearly pointing at certain individuals calling them vanity sick... and in such a young & angsty group, i'm sure he caused some discomfort. the climax was a ground moving "Trying to Find a Balance"... ground. moving. literally i thought the floor was going to collapse. After the last show i went to (in a city he clearly isnt as crazy about...) i wasn't expecting such commitment. i cant stop thinking about it. best show i've seen in a while.

  • Great Performance, Poor Set List

by puagrayson on 7/28/09Webster Hall - New YorkRating: 3 out of 5

Started in typical fashion- way too hot, overcrowded, and a solid buzz in the crowd. First three songs were OK, very standard for Atmosphere, but in the middle of the set they played 7-8 straight songs that most of us in the crowd skip on their CDs. Left out way too many Atmosphere classics and touched the tracks that, while not necessarily bad, don't translate to live performance. Overall a solid show but if you weren't intimately familiar with Atmosphere's music you wouldn't recognize many of the tracks he played.

  • Atmosphere kicked it as always

by ChrisPL on 7/28/09Webster Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

I just saw Atmosphere a month ago in Helsinki and they were great there as well, but they really went all out for the NYC show! They played an hour and a half set and everyone had a good time, an awesome night out! E&A were sick too, especially when Mike came back out and freestyled with Slug.

  • Atmosphere is the shh

he was so down to earth and funny. as usual, he came out before the show and said hi to everyone he could and shook their hand. the energy was amazing. he wanted our metaphorical herpes...

  • Bigger than Wrestling

by Lokifun on 7/28/09Webster Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Killer show, the Slugs stage presence is huge and Ant looks like hes just having a damn good time. They sound even better live than on the cd, and the whole (sold out) crowd was into it. If you get the chance to see them, do it.

  • Amazing performance

    by Maxwell1234 on 7/28/09Webster Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Atmosphere was absolutely incredible. As tired as I was toward the end of the night I didn't want the show to end. Great venue, great music!

  • Class Act

by SoSick on 7/28/09Webster Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Atmosphere was great. Bottom line. These guys played a long set, had great rapport with the audience, and took the extra time to jam and freestyle. The encore was incredible. Slug is an amazing performer and the songs sound even better live Just go see Atmosphere, there's really nothing else to say.

  • they rocked the atmosphere

by pegggggz on 7/28/09Webster Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

really incredible performance. whether you like rap or not, this show would have been enjoyable.

  • Exceeded already high expectations

    by ChrisNYC48 on 7/28/09Webster Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Long time fan of Atmosphere. Was very happy to see them finally touch down in NYC. I was not dissappointed; the venue, Webster Hall was great, the sound system phenomenal and Atmosphere killed it. Only complaint was that the $5 beer special ran out in like 10 minutes and after that beers were $7 a pop!

  • I love Atomosphere

by TisAmazin on 7/21/09The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5

This event was awesome. A friend and I drove from Minneapolis and met our other friend from Springfield and we all met up in Saint Louis. The Pageant was a clean place with a good quality sound system. The staff was very friendly, knowledgeable and nice for dealing with three loud ladies having the time of their life. One of the best venues I have visited in a long time!
