Atmosphere on Tour

Since the mid '90s, Minneapolis duo Atmosphere have built one of the defining careers of independent hip-hop - especially due to their frequent, commanding live performances. Atmosphere shows have been known to include freestyles, feats of turntablism and, of course, rapper Slug's deeply emotional lyrics and asides. In the early years, Atmosphere toured with the DIY determination of a punk band, and ultimately landed on the 2003, 2004 and 2005 editions of the Vans Warped Tour. Thanks to their electric live shows and dedicated fan base, Atmosphere have appeared at Bonnaroo, Coachella, Lollapalooza, Bumbershoot, Governors Ball, the HFStival and more, as well as headlining treks like 2008's Paint the Nation tour, 2011's The Family Vacation tour, 2014's North of Hell tour and 2018's Mi Vida Local tour. In 2008, Slug and his Rhymesayers label co-owners founded Soundset, an annual music festival in Minneapolis which has since become America's premiere hip-hop gathering. Atmosphere performs every year, of course, and guests have included Kendrick Lamar, Lil Wayne, Migos, Lauryn Hill, Future, Nas, Snoop Dogg and many more.

Atmosphere in Concert

Atmosphere - rapper Sean "Slug" Daley and DJ/producer Anthony "Ant" Davis - have built one of independent rap's defining empires. In 1995, Slug cofounded the Rhymesayers Entertainment record label in his hometown of Minneapolis, releasing freestyle and live performance cassettes of his crew Headshots. Atmosphere's debut album, 1997's Overcast!, promptly became a galvanizing moment for both Minneapolis rap and the personal, confessional style of underground rap that would follow. The group's deeply emotional and personal lyrics and intense touring schedule made them allies with the punk and alternative rock communities, and 2003's Seven's Travels was released in conjunction with Epitaph Records. Atmosphere have released nine albums on Rhymesayers and have collaborated with Tom Waits, Doom, El-P and more. Slug has appeared on tracks by Aesop Rock, Sage Francis, Blowfly, Brother Ali and more.

    Atmosphere never disappoints!

by Jody on 11/19/23The Observatory North Park - San Diego

Slug & Ant & Hebl really turned it up! Sound was great in The Observatory. Plenty of room. There was a group of kids called No Fun who opened up. Then Hebl (DJ) played a short set. Then Atmosphere. They played all their best songs. I never miss them when they roll through.

    Outstanding

by Erica on 11/19/23The Observatory North Park - San Diego

This show gave the whole audience catharsis and reprieve and joy. Atmosphere's 25 odd years is easy to spot in terms of how deftly they engaged with the audience, and they've also managed to stay innovative and fresh. I'd had a rough week, and this was exactly what I needed.

    Dream come true

by Shook1 on 11/18/23The Bellwether - Los Angeles

The Bellwether was the perfect place for an intimate and amazing Atmosphere show. This venue provided the setting for true fans to get a close up experience and chance to enjoy the music fully. Getting to meet Ant and Slug after the show was truly a lifetime opportunity.

    Amazing Alwaysā€¦.

by XPRESSIONWITWORDS on 11/18/23The Bellwether - Los Angeles

Amazing showā€¦.a bit of bias I think since it is a HipHop show and in my personal opinion donā€™t compare to many other shows. It was a raw performance, great interaction and amazing sound! Slug once again amazedā€¦.even though in my opinion he was a bit under the weather and/or tiredā€¦fatigued he performed every song(long set) with incredible passion. Will attend as many as I can for as long as I can. Only downside is he didnā€™t see my Dinospectrum shirt lol

Had such a fun time always a good time when you make party with atmosphere. Never disappoints. The ā€œATMOSPHEREā€ was amazing with everyone partying together. Crammed in like Sardines but Amazing Show

by Devbot on 11/16/23Ace of Spades - Sacramento

I love this venue. The sound has really improved over the years, the bar lines are short but man o man it has become crowded! To the point where the only place you can stand to get some space is in a bathroom stall. Iā€™d love for the capacity to be cut back a bit just so people had a little breathing room.

    So good

by Faith on 11/12/23Knitting Factory - Spokane - Spokane

Iā€™ve seen Atmosphere at the knit here in Spokane 4 times and 2 times at the pavilion and this show was really well done and more packed than the others before! Security was on point. Shout out to the girl who had to chase me down and grab my arm to take me out of VIP. We almost made it but she got it handled šŸ™ŒšŸ¼

    Knitting factory is terrible

by Maggiemayhem on 11/8/23Knitting Factory - Spokane - Spokane

Atmosphere was amazing as he always is!! No complaints on Atmosphere or his opening band no fun. But for real and honestlyā€¦The knitting factory sound and space sucks for Atmosphere. And they kick people out for the stupidest thingsā€¦ the sound is not great in that tiny space. Plus they were turning people away due to compacity issues Please choose a different venue next time, or come in the summer and play outside again. Spokane loves atmosphere!! We will always show up for him.
