    All Ammerican ASO

by sandy17 on 7/5/09Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park - Alpharetta

This was a rousing, find-your-inner-patriot night. The music was familiar and fun, and the audience couldn't resist waving the American flags we were given at the gate in time with the music.

    All American Celebration

by pmw8486 on 7/5/09Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park - Alpharetta

Both fun and moving!! The tribute to all veterans was awesome. The U.S. Army Chorus and the ASO did a great job. I really enjoyed it. Although not a Sousa fan, the ASO did a great job with them. Also, enjoyed hearing the choral part to the 1812 Overture--very rarely heard.

What better way to top off a day of family fun and good food than with the most patriotic concert imaginable and the best fireworks in the area!

    First class concert

by Dorothy on 7/5/09Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park - Alpharetta

The Atlanta Symphony was great, even from back on the hill where we sat. The fireworks were excellent. However , our family left the venue raving about the US Army Men's Chorus. From their singing to their ability to stand at attention for the performance, we were proud of them.

    Wonderful Patriotic 4th of July

by Suzanne0303 on 7/5/09Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park - Alpharetta

We REALLY enjoyed the Atlanta Symphony's 4th of July concert! The music was great, we enjoyed the Army Chorus, and there was a tremendous feeling of patriotism that involved the whole audience. The only challenge was moving to see the fireworks, but that worked OK, and it was a nice fireworks show! My teenage daughter asked if we can make this a family tradition every year.

Encore--Now I know the reason for the name!

by SavannahsJoJo on 7/5/09Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park - Alpharetta

What an incredible production and performance for our national birthday celebration! This was my first visit to Encore Park and I was enormously satistfied with my visit. In a time where our nation seems so politically/spiritually divided, Conductor Reischl and the ASO delivered a spirit of unity that all Americans could come forward and enjoy the privilege of being an American! The spirit of unity was heightened by the impressive talent of The United States Army Chorus/SFC Neil Ewachiw. A completely enjoyable experience that ended with a "big bang" fireworks show! Thank ASO----we want more!!!

    Remarkably Good!

by GBW2 on 7/5/09Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park - Alpharetta

This was our first visit to ASO at Encore Park and we will return again and soon! We invited guests and everyone had an excellent time. The music was ourtstanding; the Army Chorus great and fireworks so fun! Actually while the Army Chorus sololist sang the Battle Hymn of the Republic the fireworks at nearby Wills Park could be seen above the trees and it was awesome! This will become a 4th of July tradition for us (if it is repeated). The only disappointment was the quality of wine served for $7/glass. ( Even though it was a long walk I returned it as it was awful.)

    ASO: All American Celebration

by buybulldog on 7/5/09Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park - Alpharetta

Our group started out smal, but by yesterday afteroon there were 10 total. Even my teenage daughter and her friend decided to jon us. Everyone agreed that this was a lovely and very moving event for all ages! The recognition of all of our armed forces was exceptional and brought a tear to our eyes! Thank you ASO for bringing this event to Alpharetta. We have been to many of the events held here already; from the very first, The Eagles, to our wonderful table seats at the opening night of the ASO! We are taking advantage of this beautiful venue in our backyard. The parking is down to a science, there is plenty of friendly assistance all over the park, this just adds to the enjoyment of coming back again and again. We also have taken advantage of the "baskets" now being offered by Ovations @ the park. All in all a memorable evening that left my daughter and her friend commenting on how awesome the music was performed by the ASO and the Army chorus. A truly wonderul way to spend the 4th of July with my friends and family!

    Fabulous 4th

by chahldahl on 7/5/09Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park - Alpharetta

ASO delivered a stunning 4th celebration at Verizon on Saturday. Symphony selections were perfect collage of patriotic and stirring; Army chorus was rousing; night sky perfection; and fireworks a delightful and generous bonus. Sense of customer service was unparalleled from courteous ticket takers, to ushers offering extra help and welcome, commentary from conductor and Q&A during intermission enhanced the experience. Being thanked for coming as we departed happy was a kicker. Well done and many an encore to come.

Best July 4th value in the area!

by libertyforever on 7/5/09Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park - Alpharetta

Bought the family 4 pack and received incredible value for the money: 1. Each lawn ticket was 18.75 (very inexpensive by normal concert standards) 2. "A" Lot (closest) parking included in the ticket price 3. 4 lawn chairs included (normally $5 each) 4. Hot dog and fries box dinner (with a soda) included - hot dog was a very generous sized beef frank. Same set-up would easily cost $8-10 each during a normal concert. 5. Spectacular fire works show included. I would rate this show at least equal if not better to any of the traditional area shows - Wills Park, Willow Springs / Country Club of Roswell. Acutally, I believe its better since you felt even closer to the fireworks in this venue. 6. As usual with the Verizon (especially lot A) - easy in, easy out. They have the process down to a science. You definitely want to sit on the lawn, otherwise, you will be moving from your pavilion seat after the concert in order to watch the fire works. Downers: 1. For whatever reason, the lawn seating area had just been top-dressed with sand a day or two before and so you felt like you were sitting on the beach instead of the normally very comfortable bermuda grass - wasn't unbearable though. 2. The portable toilets at the top of the lawn seating must have needed changing as there was noxious odors coming from that direction a good deal of the concert. 3. $8 for a beer? Cmon! All this says is do your drinking at the trunk of your car before or after the concert. Actually, just do it before, no need to be drinking after the concert. Overall: This event was excellent in most respects. Unless something changes, we will come back every year from now on. The concert by the ASO was wonderful - great pieces selected and performed. Last piece was the 1812 Overture and it was probably the best rendition I have ever experienced! The Army chorus participated, had some individual solo pieces and then they performed the choral pieces in the 1812 Overture and it was spectacular! If you have been to the Boston Pops or on the mall in DC during July 4th, you would not be disappointed with this concert. It ranks right up there with the best I have ever seen (and its 5 minutes from my house!). Excellent package value (especially for families with kids), excellent venue, excellent performance all around!

    Pleasant Evening for All

by herefred on 7/5/09Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park - Alpharetta

The ASO All American Celebration was quite enjoyable. The selection choice was far ranging and inclusive of varied musical tastes. There truly was something for everyone. Outstanding solo work was rendered by the ASO trumpet and piccolo, as well as the baritone from the Army Chorus. I was pleasantly surprised at how good the sound was from the lawn seats. Kudos to the sound engineers. The only times I strained my ears was on the pianissmo sections of Hoedown and the 1812 Overture. The Army Chorus rendered a robust masculine sound that resonated well throughout both the vocal and the dynamic ranges. Their tribute to veterans of the Armed Forces was particularly well-received. Personally, I prefered "Soon Ah Will Be Done" which was sung expressively giving attention to diction, dynamics, and tempo. It's a tough row to hoe when a visiting chorus performs to an Atlanta audience who have been weaned on the genius of Robert Shaw. The Army Chorus certainly rose to the occasion. The fireworks display to conclude the evening made the Verizon Wireless Ampitheater at Encore Park was a great place to celebrate Independence Day.

    Fabulous Evening

by KSgirl on 7/5/09Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park - Alpharetta

This was a great event! The symphony was spectacular and we would have liked to hear the Army Chorus for a few more numbers. Excellent fireworks display however we would to see the fireworks coordinated with music and please turn off the stage lights during the fireworks! They were very distracting.

    Independence Day Delight

by Dwow on 7/5/09Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park - Alpharetta

Great music selections, outstanding performance by all. Thanks to the US Army Chours and the salute to Veterans of each branch of the Military. We were fifty yards from the fireworks launch site so we were in practically in the fireworks. Awesome!

    Excellent show!

by DanielA on 7/5/09Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park - Alpharetta

Great value, great fireworks (one of the best displays I've seen in a long time), and great fun with friends. While they can't control the weather, it was one of the most splendid nights temperature wise as well.
