It was a great experience for my son and I. It was his first game and my second. The only bad part was someone spilling their drink on us.

Atlanta Hawks History
The lineage of the Hawks dates to 1946, when, as the Tri-Cities Blackhawks, they played in the NBA's forerunner, the National Basketball League. They moved to Milwaukee in 1951, shortening their name, and then to St. Louis in 1955. They made the NBA finals four times in a five-year stretch, defeating the Boston Celtics to capture the franchise's only title in 1958. In 13 seasons in St. Louis, the Hawks missed the playoffs only once.
After moving to Atlanta in 1968, the Hawks' postseason runs continued for five years, fueled by the likes of Pete Maravich, Lou Hudson and Walt Bellamy. In 1976, Ted Turner bought the team and installed Hubie Brown as coach, and by his second season, the team was again a playoff contender. The Dominique Wilkins era began in 1982, with "The Human Highlight Film" leading the team to four straight 50-win seasons beginning with the 1985–86 season.
The arrival of Dikembe Mutombo helped the Hawks continue to make postseason runs in the late 1990s, but the new millennium brought a difficult eight-year dry spell. That ended with the 2007–08 season, the first of 10 consecutive years in which they earned a playoff berth.
In 2018, the team drafted Trae Young. He led the team with 29.6 points and 9.3 assists per game in his second season. During the 2021–22 regular season, Young led all of the NBA in total points (2,155) and total assists (737). During the postseason, the Atlanta Hawks went on an incredible playoff run, led by Young, that saw them advance to the Eastern Conference Finals where they lost to eventual NBA Champions Milwaukee Bucks.

Rating: 2 out of 5 Hawks vs. Wizards
by Zukes05 on 10/20/09Philips Arena - AtlantaI should have known it wouldn't be all that great. I mean, it was just a pre season game. Don't get me wrong, I like basketball and yeah, I'm a Hawks fan; but pre season games are not what a regular season game is. There was no excitement, no glitz and certainly no glamour. Philips Arena is a nice place. It's got lots of stuff to see and things to do. Minus one star for having high priced food and beverage. I was expecting to pay stadium prices, but wow! it can get crazy of you eat and drink at Philips Arena. Getting to the arena is probably one of the easiest things to do. Marta will drop you right off at the arena and from there it's a quick escalator ride up to the front door. Oh, don't get me wrong, I'll go to a regular season game for sure. I just won't go back to a pre season game, much less a Washington Wizards game. Over all, if I had to recommend this particular event, I probably wouldn’t. But check back with me after I have a few regular season games under my belt and I'm sure I'll tell a different story.
Rating: 2 out of 5 Section 211 Row K not good seats
by Anonymous on 10/20/09Philips Arena - AtlantaThe Hawks are always wonderful but i took my 11 year old to his first game and the seats were awful. We couldnt see the score board so when ever something was happening we didnt know because we couldnt see the jumbotron due to the upper level seats. I would go back but never again could someone even give me Row K seats.

Rating: 4 out of 5 Hawks game was grrreat!!!
by bigcountry50 on 10/9/09Philips Arena - AtlantaI really enjoyed the game itself. I have been attending Hawks games for years. Also, I am an autograph collector. Within the past years, the Hawks have changed rules concerning when the gates open for the fans to come into Philips Arena. I used to arrive at the games early due to the fact that players are more willing to sign during shoot around. Now the gates do not open until an hour before the game. Therefore, limiting the opportunity for players to sign. I understand that no one has the ability to control the player's signing habits, but it would be great if fans had more than 20-30 minutes to obtain an autograph. As I mentioned earlier, I enjoyed the game. I am pumped about our chances to make the playoffs. We have assembled a dangerous team. GO HAWKS!!!

Rating: 5 out of 5 great game
by jlashunl on 10/8/09Philips Arena - AtlantaI enjoyed going to the hawks v new orleans 2009 preseason game. I think the hawks could go all the way as along as the second string gets to play too and they play the same way. I actually think j teaque should take bibby place this year. He seen to be a better guard. The game was exciting and I really enjoyed josh smith slams. I do hate that flip murray didnt resign with the hawks but i plan to come to at least 6 games either doing the regular season r playoff.
