  • Generous Performance

by Magack on 6/10/24Town Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

The musicians and music were wonderful as expected. But the theater needs to remodel the upstairs ladies room. People were actually getting stuck trying to get in and out of some stalls. A handicap rest room on the first floor and an actual paper program would have also been appreciated for the price paid.

  • Fantastic, wonderful evening.

by André Spears on 1/18/23Town Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

The music was exuberant & the setting was historic. Hot ticket that lived up to the billing!

  • Excellent

    by V. S. on 1/17/23Town Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

One of the best concerts I've ever attended. Arturo bought in his two sons and renowned jazz and percussion artists. They brought the house down.

  • Great!

by Salsero on 1/17/23Town Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Loved it! It was a wonderful concert, giving us a historical perspective and great music to accompany it.

  • A great night full of great music

by RM on 1/17/23Town Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Wow! That’s an accurate way to describe the concert…wow!. Dizzy, Chano, Chico would be proud and amazed. Mario Bauza I’m sure was looking down from heaven and smiling. Arturo, his sons Adam and Zachary, John Faddis, Pedrito Martinez, Jacqueline Acevedo, Donald Haroldson and the incredible Dayme Arecona. It was also great to see so many young people and women in the band. Especially Lelany Mateo on bass. This means that the legacy will carry on.

  • Disappointing sound

by Jazz on 1/17/23Town Hall - New YorkRating: 3 out of 5

Everything about this concert was fabulous with the exception of one critical element: the sound was muddy and the volume much too loud for the space. We had prime seats, front balcony center and should have experienced perfect sound quality. Instead, soloists were drowned out and inaudible at times and the orchestral sound fabric was poorly reproduced by the system. Unfortunately, Jazz requires sound that does not distort and a tech who understands how to preserve the distinct timbre of the many instruments that comprise the band.

  • Fabulous Performance & Informative Pre-Concert Interview

by Anthony on 11/22/21New Jersey Performing Arts Center - NewarkRating: 5 out of 5

Historical perspective on the music of, Chico O’Farrill (father of Arturo) & the evolution of Afro-Latin Jazz music. The musicians were highly talented and their precision “par excel-lance”. The acoustics and the venue enhanced the intimate & enjoyable experience of the evening.

  • Way to Start the Year

by Prof. M on 10/25/21The Soraya (The Valley's Center for the Performing Arts) - NorthridgeRating: 5 out of 5

It was well worth the wait. I not only enjoyed the sounds of NYC Latin jazz, but the story behind the event was heart-warming. I do not speak Spanish, but I did not miss a beat at the concert that evening. Seeing the three+ bands join forces to celebrate the reopening of the Soraya and the culmination of a long journey in making the documentary associated with the groups made the performances even more enjoyable. The atmosphere was alive and the stage and audience members were in sync.
