Is there accessible seating?
A TTY phone system operates to allow direct access to the Arts Centre by phone for people with hearing disabilities. The dedicated number for this service is (03) 9281 8441. A hearing system is available in all Arts Centre venues except BlackBox and the ANZ Pavilion. The system utilises a FM signal, providing coverage to all seats in the venues via headphones or neckloops, and is available from the venue ushers. There are spaces available for people with disabilities in all of our venues and can be booked in person at the Arts Centre Box Office, any Ticketmaster Ticket Centre or by phone (credit card only) on 1300 136 166. Patrons may seek assistance into the auditorium from any of the front of house staff either at the St Kilda Road Level Concierge Desk in The Theatres Building or in the theatre foyer. There is a small number of wheelchairs available for in-house use (ie from carpark to seats) but these must be booked by calling the Concierge on (03) 9281 8298. Car parking is available for people with disabilities in the Arts centre car park on a first come, first serve basis. Lift access is available to all levels however, there are steps into and inside the auditorium at all levels. Entrance doors in the stalls are at either end of Z row or doors 3 and 4 with which are close to Row J. There are shallow steps throughout the stalls so the closer to Z row, the less steps there are to negotiate. All the other doors in the stalls are exit stairwells only. The only entrance doors in the circle are at either end of G row or at either end of WHH row. There are steps throughout the circle so the closer to G row or WHH rows the less steps there are to negotiate. The other doors in the circle are stairwells only. There are steps to negotiate for all balcony seats.
