Rating: 5 out of 5by Anonymous on 1/20/15Brighton Music Hall - Boston Rating: 5 out of 5 Great Energy from The Vaselines and Amanda X
by FunkBeans on 1/20/15Brighton Music Hall - BostonAmanda X opened, and this trio from Philly really knew how to play and sing. Not only did they rock, they had some great time meter changes in a few of their songs and I'm already singing one refrain. The Vaselines were truly a fun punk band to see, if you can even classify their music. The lyrics are fun and I didn't stop dancing and bopping my head the whole time. Best part was between sets they were funny and a bit insulting in a playful way. I'd definitely see these bands live again!

by dadumdumdada on 11/1/10Magic Stick - DetroitI believe that, like everybody else, I first heard of The Vaselines due to Nirvana having covered one of their songs. Unlike everybody else, however, The Vaselines became a far more beloved band by me than Nirvana. Several years ago I read, in SPIN, of a concert that they did in L.A., and I wished that I could have been there. So when I learned that they were finally playing my town, I got tickets as soon as possible. The one complaint I could make is that the concert was heavy on the older songs. Of the 17 songs on THE WAY OF THE VASELINES: A COMPLETE HISTORY that they wrote, they performed 14 of them, compared to 7 of the 14 songs from SEX WITH AN X. I suppose that I shouldn't complain, as I'd never seen them perform anything before but, as far as I'm concerned, SEX WITH AN X is their best album. Pressed, I could also say that I wished that they'd introduced the band members. While I had been hoping that Stevie Jackson would be there, he wasn't missed. The band performed the songs flawlessly. They were in great voice, I danced, I sighed, and I wished that they could have played longer. Much longer.
Rating: 5 out of 5 loved it!
by magneticfan36 on 10/7/10Paradise Rock Club - Bostoni orginally got into the vaselines about 15 years ago...maybe even longer and i just love their rock sound. as soon as i saw they were playing and were actually in my area, i knew i had to see them. i immediatly got the new cd and i was plesently pleased to hear that old sound again. i didn't expect much of the show being that it was general admission and i got tickets #17 and #18.....so i assumed there would not be alot of people and might be kind of a downer but i was deteremined to go and have a good time. i was blown away by the show!!!! they rocked out just like i had hoped and there was plenty of people enjoying the music. the band interacted with the audience which i love and you could actually hear what they were saying, unlike big stadium shows. i would a million times over reccomend anyone who likes to rock to see the vaselines.
Rating: 4 out of 5 The Vaselines
by TunaSoda on 10/7/10Paradise Rock Club - BostonIt was awesome to finally see these guys play live! The smaller crowd was actually a great thing as everyone there was able to stand right up at the stage! I gave it four out of five stars due to not having much beer I like (guinness/wachusett/seira nevada, something better tasting than the darkest being Harpoon)
