Wayne Newton in Concert

The always suave Wayne Newton is — and will always be — Mr. Las Vegas. The classic crooner and entertainer even has a road named after him at Vegas' international airport. A consummate performer, Newton has been charming audiences since he was a kid, singing alongside his older brother Jerry. Once the young siblings made their way to Vegas — where they began performing six shows a night, six nights a week — Wayne was on his way to becoming a legend. Over the next several decades, Newton would solidify his VIP status, transforming from the boyish singer of the ‘60s to the debonair Mr. Entertainer of Vegas. He came to dominate Sin City, at one point becoming its highest paid performer. In total, he's logged over 30,000 live shows and counting. The King of Vegas continues his rule, presiding over Cleopatra's Barge at Caesars Palace with his intimate show, Wayne Newton: Up Close and Personal, in which he sings his biggest hits, shares his favorite stories and invites the audience to ask him anything.

Wayne Newton Background

Wayne Newton has been a star nearly all his life. Born Carson Wayne Newton in 1942 in Norfolk, Virginia, the young singer took to music early, learning how to play piano and guitar starting at age six. As his family moved around the country, from Ohio to Arizona, Wayne and his older brother Jerry honed their stage skills at local clubs and fairs. Their show eventually caught the eye of a booking agent, who invited the brothers to perform in Vegas in 1958. There, the sibling duo impressed crowds night after night for five years. Newton also made waves on the national level, performing on The Jackie Gleason Show and acting on the western TV hit Bonanza. In his early twenties, he was landing singles on the charts, including his signature version of "Danke Schoen" and "Red Roses for a Blue Lady" (still favorites at his performances). He was prolific throughout the 1960s and 1970s, releasing multiple albums nearly every year and scoring another big hit with 1972's "Daddy Don't You Walk So Fast." By the mid '70s, Newton was already shedding his baby-faced image and fast becoming Vegas' must-see event. Decades later, he still reigns as Mr. Vegas, bringing in fans — young and old — to see the living legend do what he was born to do: entertain.

    A legend

I never pass up the chance to see a legend. Loved the stories and Vegas history but his voice is not what it used to be.

    Wayne Newton Delivers

by Joe on 3/19/24Bugsy's Cabaret at Flamingo - Las Vegas

81 years old - playing several instruments - Wayne Newton shows he's still Mr. Las Vegas. I really enjoyed the show - I forgive Wayne for trying to hit notes he can't hit. He had video clips interwoven with live music in some instances. Wayne played the pedal steel, the guitar and the fiddle. All top notch. My only complaint - Wayne may have fudged the dates when he talked about recording the duet with Glen Campbell.

    Waynes world(Wayne newton)

by Sly on 2/27/24Bugsy's Cabaret at Flamingo - Las Vegas

Awesome concert, his vocals are not very good anymore, but his humbleness and his stage presence are worthy of a stadium tour. He is good people and if the world had half his heart, then we’d all be in a better place. This is a must see show and you will leave with a new found respect for this man of many talents

by Suzy B on 2/22/24Bugsy's Cabaret at Flamingo - Las Vegas

Even though he has lost his singing voice, his show was still very entertaining! He is an excellent entertainer and I really loved his show! In his "heyday"he was known as "Mr. Las Vegas". He should now be known as "Mr. Entertainer"! Please bring him back to Cleveland!

    Amazing!!

by Dawn on 2/21/24Bugsy's Cabaret at Flamingo - Las Vegas

I wasn’t sure how it was going to be, but I was so entertained the whole time!! I could listen to his stories all day!! He has had an amazing career and even with age he is still charismatic! You can still see his younger self in him. I loved all the stories of his relationships with so many famous people and so many different opportunities in so many years since 15!! He is funny too! He also is the sweetest person and made the day of a 90 year old in the audience for her bday! I truly loved every minute of it! The video footage was so fun to watch as well! The lounge is small so you can see him so close! General seating is first come first serve , but honestly had a better view than my reserved seat! I would not pass up this opportunity to see Mr. Vegas himself ! Side note : The very side seats are very hard to see the screens.

We saw him 50 years ago and really enjoyed his show. I think we appreciated this show because we had seen him before. Time has taken away from his voice but his sincere personality and showmanship are very good.

    Amazing!!

by Susie on 2/8/24Bugsy's Cabaret at Flamingo - Las Vegas

Mr. Las Vegas indeed! I absolutely loved this show - Wayne Newton was charming, funny, genuine and told some fantastic stories. His voice is not what it used to be, but it doesn't matter. If you love old Hollywood / Old Vegas and the tales that go along with it, this is the show. Entertainer extraordinaire!!

    Great Experience!

by Nolan on 2/7/24Bugsy's Cabaret at Flamingo - Las Vegas

Wayne Newton is a fantastic show! Wayne performs songs and plays several instruments. He says that he can play 25 different instruments. Wayne takes you on a journey of his life and when he started performing with his brother in Las Vegas in 1959. He shows old footage of some of his performances with people like Glenn Campbell and Sammie Davis Jr. He tells stories and shows footage of Jack Benny, Elvis, Sinatra, Martin and many others. Wayne is a great entertainer and storyteller. This is a great show!

    Still The Ultimate Showman

by Ultimate Elvis on 2/1/24Bugsy's Cabaret at Flamingo - Las Vegas

This was my fourth time seeing Wayne in the past 40 years. He is still the great showman he always was. He sings less and is of course older but he is so well spoken and entertaining he is well worth the money if you want to experience Classic Las Vegas. Strangely the does look and sound better than any YouTube clips posted recently - don’t know why this is. Met him after the show. He is so gracious and appreciative of his fans. As long as there is Wayne in Vegas I will be coming down to spend my money.

    Best show in Las Vegas!

by John and Pam on 2/1/24Bugsy's Cabaret at Flamingo - Las Vegas

My wife and I loved the show. From the opening song, we told each other that Mr. Newton still has it together and that we would recommend the show to everyone. The only disappointment was that when he recognized members of the armed forces, he did not acknowledge veterans. Active and retired military, police, firefighters, and any first responders but not veterans. As a disabled Vietnam-era veteran, I was a little taken aback. Maybe it was just an oversight.

    by Coloradocowgirl on 1/29/24

He is an amazing entertainer. Been doing this for so many years he has perfected his craft. The best part was when i got to meet and greet with him was totally enjoyable. We chatted and took a few pics. and i started walking away. he called me back to take more pics while hugging me was totally floored. Cant wait to see him again. Hopefully he will still be in Vegas this year in October. had an amazing time.
