About

University of South Carolina Gamecocks Football at Williams-Brice Stadium

There's nothing quite like the energy of SEC Football, and the University of South Carolina Gamecocks are playing the best conference opponents in the nation, year in and year out. National powerhouses like Clemson, Alabama, Florida, Tennessee and Auburn make their way to Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia, SC, every Saturday during college football season, and a Gamecocks game starts well before kickoff. While the 52-acre tailgate area is a proper SEC football pre-game experience, there are also three nearby breweries and a more ready-made fan zone in the Lexington Medical Center Gamecock Village, which opens 4.5 hours before kickoff. Once inside of "The Cock Pit," you're among 80,000+ people in the stadium as the team enters to the strains of "Also sprach Zarathustra, Op. 30" made famous in the film 2001: A Space Odyssey, a game-day tradition for nearly 40 years. If the Gamecocks score a touchdown, the music becomes even more a part of the experience, with Darude's "Sandstorm" blasting after every touchdown. Plain and simple, Gamecock football games are a big deal. The team has ended the year in the Top 25 six times since 2000, and even the mascot, Cocky, is — no joke — a four-time national champion mascot. Every home game sells out, because who wouldn't want to watch SEC Players of the Year like defensive end Jadeveon Clowney or running back Marcus Lattimore? The sun shines strong on Saturday in Columbia, so don't forget to put on sunscreen, and as long as you're wearing garnet and black, you'll fit right in.

University of South Carolina Gamecocks Football History

College Football's South Carolina Gamecocks play their games at the 80,250-capacity Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia, SC. Since 2010, the stadium has undergone $30 million in renovations, including the installation of a giant 36-foot-high by 124-foot-wide HD video board and the lush Springs Brooks Plaza promenade entrance. A decorated college football program to say the least, the team has been coached in the past by Hall of Famers Lou Holtz and Steve Spurrier, while current head coach Will Muschamp has taken the Gamecocks to a bowl game every year of his tenure. The program has churned out quality NFL talent in players like the great Sterling Sharpe, former No. 1 overall pick Jadeveon Clowney and Super Bowl winners Stephon Gilmore and Alshon Jeffery.

    Inconsiderate

    by Meme21212121 on 9/6/18Williams-Brice Stadium - Columbia

Sat next to a man that was too large for his spot on the bleacher so he continued to just sit in my seat leaving me to be squished to the person next to me. Worst customer experience i've ever had

Added food stands helped flow. Referee and PA announcer need to work better together . Talked on top of each other a lot. But we had a great time

    Gamecocks stunk

by Kelly0952 on 9/19/17Williams Brice Stadium - Columbia

The coaching and playing of the game by the Gamecocks was atrocious. Offence coordinator needs to step down. I could call better plays in my sleep.

What happened to this incredible Stadium?

by Fparker1976 on 9/19/17Williams Brice Stadium - Columbia

My wife and I typically sit in the 905 section of Williams-Brice. Normally, a wonderful experience. This time how ever it was horrible at best. No food was delivered up to the 900 stands. "Was told a new vendor was in place". Water pressure was lost at the start of the first quarter. Toilets were backing up because they couldn't be flushed. My wife and I had to leave at half time because it was too unsanitary for her to use the bathroom. Also due to all the cussing and carrying on by the people because of the same problems. Not what I would expect from a top level SEC program. My wife and I were thinking about purchasing season tickets, but this experience made up our minds. Definitely not worth the money! I am very embarrassed that we hosted another team under those conditions. The Gamecock staff should be as well.

    Friendly venue

by Cfbfan on 11/8/16Williams Brice Stadium - Columbia

I took my sister and fiancé to the Missouri game. It was the first time any of us had been to Columbia. I wore my aggie gear and they wore buckeye gear. Other than a few strange looks and yells that we must be lost, most of the tailgaters were welcoming and invited us to talk sports and shared food. Great game day experience overall. The only negative was the rooster (crow) sounds. Got annoying after awhile.

Had a great seat and a great price. I compared prices on other sites and this was the best price. Had a great seat, one of the best sporting events I've been to.

    Awesome seats!

by ThePunisherlives on 10/30/16Williams Brice Stadium - Columbia

Great seats! Close to the action, out of the wind and right in the sunshine on a cool day. Most of the action was at our end of the stadium with a great view of the scoreboard.

    Great game!

by gryanrob on 11/24/15Williams Brice Stadium - Columbia

I went to the USC/Citadel game and it turned out to be a great game. I was in town for work, so this was a great way to enjoy Columbia. It was pretty easy to get in and out of the stadium, and I enjoyed the overall atmosphere.
