Excellent outdoor show. Our Nashville Symphony never disappoints me.
We were hoping it would be fairly fun. Instead we were rocking out. Tony Vincent sang beautifully. He was genuinely into the lyrics and showed great respect for Tom Petty. The Nashville Symphony was also superb. To see Petty's material played with a full orchestra was a true Nashville treat. I wish more young people had come though. His music is timeless and they all performed it perfectly. The conductor,Brent Havens was wonderful too. Most of the core band is from Virginia Beach. George Cintron, guitar, Adam Michaelson, Dan Clemons and Powell Randolph. We loved it all.
My wife and buddy bought the good seats, 4th row center. Had those same seats when the Stones show played also. Next time will move back a bit because the flying speakers shot over our heads, so we missed a lot of the mid and high range of the sound. Lead singer was animated, technically good. My only complaint is the band couldn’t nail the Petty “sound” You MUST use a Rickenbacker 12-string to achieve the jangly “Beatles, Byrd’s,” sound Petty was so influenced by. Overall good presentation, and love that the Hall is offering these shows!
This was truly an experience. Highly recommended it, and will probably go again to other Nashville symphony shows.
Great show, could only notice the symphony when the horn section performed.
One of the most entertaining concerts I have seen and totally enjoyed in a long time. Wondering what the symphony can come up with next.
Well. I hate to leave a “meh” review but I was just expecting more. The lead singer was great, sounded close enough but it was kind of like watching a bad Vegas cover act and it over powered the beautiful symphony. I would have rather heard them with Freddy’s voice. Speaking over over powering the symphony, the acoustics just didn’t seem right. This is a talented group playing iconic queen. I wanted to be surrounded by their music.
Nice night. The orchestra was great, the guitarist was one of the best I’ve heard and the lead singer was phenomenal. Queen’s music never sounded so good. The venue was also good. We have to go more often.
Attended the Symphony playing the music of Queen at Ascend Amphitheater. Sound was excellent and overall performance was fantastic. Thank you Nashville Symphony.
It was a lovely evening Love the ascend as a musical venue
The Nashville Symphony was perfect as always. The weather was great, and the Cirque performers were impressive! Would love to see just Nashville Symphony performances more at Ascend!
Beautiful auditorium and an outstanding program. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a reasonably priced night of culture.
Performance was so good there were times i did not realize there was not a soundtrack playing with film
The music of Schumann, Mozart, and Mendhelson was phenomenal, but was completely SPOILED by the interruption of young girls allowing their cell phone to continue to ring during pianissimo passages, a dropped & subsequently rolling beer bottle, someone else going through shopping bags, people talking in every direction throughout, along with candy wrappers regularly being opened and wadded up, as well as inappropriate constant applause & clapping after each movement!! The concert was ruined by ongoing disruptions and has insured we won’t be returning soon.
Overall, this concert was great, but the cosmos video journey that accompanied the final performance diminished the quality of the classic mood somewhat.
This was our first time, and it was super! The music was mind blowing - so many goose bumps!!! We will attend again- hopefully soon! We drove two hours, and it was worth it!!!
My wife and I went for the Saturday showing of "Star Wars: A New Hope" (7/7/2018) and was over-joyed with the setup and performance of the symphony. At times the music was so perfectly blended you forgot you were at the Schermerhorn and listening to a live symphony. It was clear the conductor had worked with an event like this many times before and the symphony along with him. I would highly recommend (and did) seeing any showing of a movie at the Schermerhorn in the future. I know I will return.
Great music, great venue, great vocalist. Only recommendation move the people with chairs behind the people sitting on the ground.
Symphony was fantastic, along with movie clips of favorite Disney movies. Great family evening
