Utah Jazz History
The Utah Jazz joined the NBA in 1974 as an expansion franchise in New Orleans. They quickly traded for a local favorite, point guard "Pistol" Pete Maravich, who went to college at Louisiana State. Maravich had an entertaining style of playing and won the NBA scoring title in the 1976–77 season.
Logistical issues plagued the team in New Orleans, where the franchise spent only five years, never finishing with a winning record. The Jazz moved to Utah for the 1979–80 season, and they qualified for the playoffs for the first time in 1983–84.
The season after their first playoff berth, the Jazz selected point guard John Stockton with the No. 16 pick in the NBA Draft. The following year, they selected forward Karl Malone with the No. 13 pick. They became one of the best duos in NBA history and anchored the most successful period in franchise history.
The Jazz qualified for the playoffs in 20 consecutive seasons and won 50 or more regular season games in 11 of those seasons. Malone won the NBA MVP Award twice, in 1997 and 1999, and Stockton broke Magic Johnson's career assist record in 1995. He finished his career with 15,806 assists, a record that still stands.
The Jazz advanced to the NBA Finals in back-to-back seasons in 1996–97 and 1997–98, but they faced Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls both times. The Bulls beat them in six games each year. Utah has not been back to the finals since, but they’ve maintained a consistent level of success. They have missed the playoffs just nine times in the last 35 years.

Utah Jazz at Delta Center
Delta Center (formerly Vivint Arena) has gone through several different names, but it has been the home of the Utah Jazz since it opened in 1991. The arena has hosted several notable events, including the U.S. Figure Skating Championships and the 2002 Winter Olympics.
The exterior of the arena features statues of point guard John Stockton and forward Karl Malone, who are widely considered the two best players in Jazz franchise history. Stockton spent his entire 19-year career in Utah, while Malone spent 18 years with the Jazz.
The Utah Jazz’s 2023–24 regular season kicks off in October at home as the Jazz face off against the Sacramento Kings. The Jazz play their final game of the regular season at Chase Center in San Francisco, California against Western Conference opponents the Golden State Warriors. W head a great experience. Everything went so smoothly from when we walked in the doors to having the convenience of tickets on phones. The workers were kind and helpful. The man out front reminding us that we couldn’t take bags in was great. His voice carried well and the message got out. Bathrooms were clean. Fun atmosphere. I love seeing games live in the arena. Nothing like the crowd and experience.
Great experience! Ticket prices are average. Thought we had better seats for the price, but overall it was a good experience. Bring credit or debit card because they don’t accept cash.
I used to love to go to the jazz games, but this one and the last one I went to were so disappointing! The jazz team and game are fun but during the timeouts and half time shows were terrible. It used to be fun jazz bear, or dunk team, or little kids, or families trying to score points and when a prize etc. Now it's watch the big screen for a message. So boring. No energy is even brought to help the team win. No jazz bear with big signs no music or chanting. Just boring. I love the jazz and will stay home to watch my team. Disappointing
Went to see Utah Jazz play Dallas Mavericks and the whole experience was awesome. An excellent stadium, cashless payment system made ordering food and drink easy and hassle free. Entertainment pre and during the match was also first rate and the atmosphere in the stadium was superb
Best game of the season. Great energy and great food, enjoyed with great friends. The jazz lived up to its reputation of having rude fans, but that didn’t interrupt our night. Go jazz.

We were at the Jazz-Warriors game. Had a great time. The half time show was spectacular. An annoyance: The noise was substantial but tolerable Except during time outs or other breaks, the volume of the lady’s voice during the little side games was EXCESSIVE. It was so loud that one could not understand all that was being said! Nevertheless, go Jazz!
Thank you TRAX! 5-minute walk from home, stopped in front of Vivint Arena. And no fares for February! Seats were great (pricey), everything easy to see.
Came to watch the Jazz play my Knicks and it was a great game. I always wanted to go watch a Jazz game me being from NY. I will definitely be going to another game the next time I’m in town. The staff and the atmosphere was very accommodating to me.

A very unlucky night for the Jazz, through no fault of their own. They were missing key players due to Covid 19 and an early ejection of one of the few remaining left them really short-handed and in a match-up nightmare. Aside from the game though...I do have two complaints. 1. Outside the Arena, there are two sculptures of Malone and Stockton...with NO LIGHTS ANYWHERE. No chance to take pictures near these amazing sculptures and we actually both tripped in the area as we approached the Arena. What a shame! Light that beautiful area up! 2. During EVERY MOMENT of the game, the "DJ" plays basey "beats" or rhythms, apparently so the crowd doesn't get bored??? You can never hear any part of the game...no ball bounces, no balls hitting the rim, no voices of the players...NOTHING. This, in my opinion, takes away the very essence of a basketball game. It's like going into the game with headphones on, playing random music all night, completely drowning out the event you have paid lots of money to see. Other than these things, I thought the arena was very nice and the production of the event was fine. But I will never go to another basketball game in there, as long as I have to listen to constant rap beats all night, without a break and without any actually game experience.
Seen tons of games here, the environment is awesome, jazz are good, the arena is modern
The experience at the Arena was great for me and my family, since we entered to the Arena, until the end of the game. The tickets worked perfectly. We enjoyed the warming up of the teams, the game and all the activities during the timeouts.
Spend X Mas time at the game with family. Fun and entertainment. Fabulous time.
The fans in Utah were great. Respectful, fun lively and energetic! I had a great time and most importantly my Washington Wizards WON‼️
I was extremely disappointed in the entire event at Vivint Arena. The game itself was good, but the safety surrounding the event was far from ok. First off, I personally did not feel the arena did anything to protect me from COVID. Instructions were sent out that all would need to show vaccination status or a negative test. This was not even looked at coming into the arena. No one was showing this and the majority in attendance were not wearing masks. This made me feel extremely uncomfortable and unsafe during the event; therefore, I left although had purchased 3 tickets to attend. I was attending with a 17 month child. With restrictions on negative testing and vaccination status i thought this would be a relatively safe environment to bring my grandson; however, soon realized this was not a safe environment for children at all. I was very disappointed.

What a beautiful arena inside and out! This was my first time at Vivint Arena and I was very impressed. The outside was nicely decorated for the holidays but the inside was immaculate. Loved thst there was plenty of seating by thr various food concessions and lots of food and beverage options. The seating wad also great. Very comforatble seat and plenty of room. This is one of the nice arenas i have been to.
Trying to acces the purchased tickets after entering and scanned and it's very difficult.
The Jazz game was fun! If you haven't been to the arena lately, things are different but they are welcomed changes. The contactless experience with the vendors was easy to figure out and overall a much easier system to deal with that utilizes your smart phone.
