About

NEIL YOUNG IN CONCERT:

Singer-songwriter legend Neil Young thrilled fans in 2013 with the announcement of North American and European tour dates alongside his longtime collaborative band Crazy Horse. Among the highly-coveted 2014 dates are four nights at Carnegie Hall as well as a series of “Honor of Treaties” benefit concerts with Diana Krall to aid the Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation Legal Defense Fund.

“Neil Young and Crazy Horse play like the rock and roll legends that they are. Truly a great show reminiscent of the classics from the early days.”

“They weren't going through the motions, they were making them. Improvising, jamming, messing up, laughing, only in the way Neil and the Horse can. They were so tightly tuned in to one another and sounded great, but the best part was that they seemed happy to be there, happy to perform.”

“Neil is a genius! After all these years, he still rocks and puts on a great show!”

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Since the late '60s, Young has released over 35 studio albums, exploring such diverse genres  as country-folk, pop, noise, punk, and electronica. He’s best known, however, for his iconic folk rock songwriting, popularized by his hugely successful collaborations with Crazy Horse and supergroup Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. Never content to rest on his laurels, Young has remained musically prolific and sonically experimental, earning rave reviews for his 2012 double-LP release Psychedelic Pill.

  • Neil Young

I should start this off by saying i've been a neil young fan since buffalo springfield and this was my 75th Neil Young show, so this is probably not exactly objective. I was going to rate it a 10 out of 10 until seeing the concert two nights later at Shoreline, so this one I will have to give a seven. A solid mix of "greatest hits"and deep cuts. For me, the addition of two songs from Greendale was fabulous (Sun Green/Be the Rain) since they are barely played as standalone songs. And a wonderfully nice version of Cortez. Very solid band that backs him up in the Chrome Hearts. Spooner, who was injured on the tour and has been with neil since harvest days (and is a lovely person), along with Micah Nelson, Tato and Corey (all of Promise of the Real and all wonderful people) play like old souls - solid backing and they lift Neil up. All in all a great show. Even at 80 Neil's still got it!

  • I have seen Neil Young...

I love how every time I see this artist his concerts are never the same. I still think he does great in a show. I will continue to buy tickets for as long as he decides to tour.

I love Neil. But this stadium tour only had a few musical highlights.

  • Neil still has it!

by denicea on 9/19/25Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

Neil Young has always been an essential part of my life, from The Buffalo Springfield, CSNY, solo, and with his backup bands. This concert at The Hollywood Bowl encompassed everything I have always loved about Neil. No one can play a guitar like him! The electric sound reverberates through your whole body and soul during the rock classics, and the acoustic melodies are heartfelt as always. His voice is still pure and strong, with a few craggly notes in the higher registers that just add to the emotion. I love The Chrome Hearts! They are reminiscent of Crazy Horse and energetically jam with Neil perfectly. His songs are as relevant today as they were in the past. His newer songs still challenge the establishment. This concert was a nostalgic journey through the past and also a reminder that we still need Neil Young's voice to carry all of us into the future.

  • Fabulous music in extraordinary venue

by JoHB on 9/19/25Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

Neil Young and The Chrome Hearts played incredible music as a perfectly tuned, tight, rock and roll/ folk band should. The sound transported me back to times of full engagement in music, and music alone, except for the exceptional lighting offered by The Bowl. Sitting in the nosebleed section, I was mesmerized by the combination of old and new songs that are clearly Young! Come back again Neil.

  • Neil Young 09-12-25

We really enjoyed the show! Neil was cordial and grateful to the crowd. He had a great band and played a mix of old and new. We've seen him many times in the past and this was a great show!

  • New band, same old Neil.

by PaulK on 9/18/25Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

I wasn’t sure exactly what to make of the opening act, but it would appear that their words and sentiment came directly from Neil Young. They were fine but a very different feel from what came after the break. It’s been 50 years since my first Neil Young concert at the Palladium theater in New York when I was a young teenager. And aside from a little strain on the high notes on Southern Man and maybe Only Love Can Break Your Heart (which could be a result of being 79 or just coming off a very long nationwide tour), Neil is Neil. He played a really great selection of his classics, both the rockers and the ballads and everything in between. He played some new songs and he continues to produce some very good new music. Chrome Hearts is kind of a stripped down Promise of the Real that sounded a lot like Crazy Horse at times. Spooner Oldham was a great addition, and it’s always a treat to see Neil with somebody who’s been playing with him for so many decades. The political and environmental stuff is delivered with passion and sincerity. His voice was incredible on several of the slower ballads and love songs, and Micah Nelson & company provided some great harmonies, including filling in the Steve Stills and David Crosby parts on some of the classics. The guitar solos on Old Black, his ancient Les Paul, were as screechy and dissonant and beautiful as ever, and full of passion and energy. His harmonica playing always brings a warm, ethereal feel to his best songs. Old Man takes on a whole different feel and sentiment when sung by, well, an old man. Solid set list with a lot of high points. Came in at around two hours, which is about right for Neil’s shows. We had tickets to see him two years ago when he canceled the end of the crazy horse tour because somebody got sick although we never found out who. So it was great to finally get to sit there and take in all of Neil‘s ragged glory at the Hollywood Bowl, one of the finest music venues in the world.

  • Inspirational!

by PhillyRich on 9/18/25Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

Seeing Neil Young, still at the top of his game with a great, new band, was amazing and inspirational! His set list was perfect and so was the Hollywood Bowl. I thought this might be the last time I ever see him but he was so energetic and his voice sounded great, so maybe (hopefully) not!

  • Neil was great. Opening act was really poor

by Bear on 9/18/25Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 4 out of 5

Not sure where the opener came from, but poor music, poor atmosphere, horrible in most every way. Thought Neil really had it! Did a lot of his classics and rocked!! He can crank that guitar and had beautiful chemistry with the band.

  • Another Perfect Concert, with the Great Neil Young.

Neil Young is our Favorite Artist, and he never disappoints. We have looked forward to seeing his show for 2 years! We have seen him many times over the years. He is not fancy, dresses in his favorite comfy clothes, but man can he entertain you. Love you Neil, Thanks for all the great music!!!
