Fabulous weekend. I only wish I could've pulled off attending all 10 days - it's always so hard to choose just one weekend of events to attend because the lineup of artists to pick from are all so good. John, Suzie, and the entire team, including all of the fabulous volunteers, organize a great festival, and it keeps getting better each year. Berks has a show for everyone's jazz palate - bluesy, straight-ahead, contemporary, smooth...you name it & look no further because you're bound to find it right here in Reading. This was my 3rd time coming up to Berks in just 5 years. I wouldn't have missed this weekend for the world, as we paid tribute with a one-of-it's-kind celebration of life for Nick Colionne in "A Salute to Nico - Brunch with Nick's Friends." The only thing missing was Nick himself, but his spirit was in full-force in the room with all of those in attendance - you could feel his radiant smile from above exclaiming just how proud he was of the tribute that Brian directed & Gerald emcee'd - not to mention a surprise re-appearance on week 2 by the one-and-only Eric Darius - exactly what Nick would've wanted. Changes in schedule were clearly communicated to fans in appropriate time, which made everything from an attendee's point-of-view, seem to run very smooth without much disappointment from the audience (i.e. - Norman Brown's show). Parking was a little rough getting in and out of the DoubleTree hotel garage on Friday night, but we found solution around it on Saturday night was to hang out post-show for a drink and meet new friends in the lobby while everyone else made their way home for the night. Other way to combat this is to book early enough next time that we actually get to stay at the DoubleTree - that's where the party's really at, after all - did someone say warm cookie?? :-) Anyway, thank you for a much-enjoyable weekend to celebrate the music I love so dearly. I look forward to returning in the years to come.
The shows were fabulous especially the tributes to Nick Colionne one of my all time favorite guitarist. It was bitter sweet him not being there. HE WAS BERKSJAZZFEST! All the artists were extraordinary and we had a ball. Can't wait until next year. Love, love, love all of it.
Loved Berks Jazz Fest again this year! Wish we could see all the shows. This year picked the Anniversary Celebration, the Nic Collione Memorial Jazz Brunch, Peter White/Vincent Ingalla and Bela Fleck. Had great seats, easy entrance and exit - a wonderful festival!
The show started on time.. Good acoustics. Great time.
saw the show on the 8th with Rick Braun and friends!!!Fenominal
Fantastic 2 hour jazz concert with an assortment of star musicians. Saxophone, trumpet, keyboard, vocalist, guitar - an all star lineup that was thoroughly entertaining!
The anniversary concert was out of this world. Two and a half hours of solid music by Keiko Matsui, Eric Marienthal, Rick Braun, and more. Couldn't have asked for a better performance. We would have paid twice as much for our tickets and still felt as if we got more than our money's worth.
Can't wait till next year! Considering staying another day or two!
Fabulous week of incredible artists and performances. Some confusion on venues but otherwise perfection. Appreciated the video clips of performance highlights throughout the week. See you next year!
