Great show! Can’t wait to see all of the films with the MSO!!!
The show and orchestra were great. The encouraging of attendees to cheer, boo, etc., during the movie was spot-on. My biggest complaint is that the show started at 8 (actually about 8:10). This was Harry Potter, a show that lots of under 12 year olds were attending. With the intermission, the show did not end until nearly 11 pm. I will think twice before attending another show like this that begins at 8 pm. I do not mind keeping my children out a little late, but 11 pm is too late, even for a weekend night. The kids can barely even stay awake that late. Thank you
I went to the Memphis Orpheum showing in November. It was my first time watching the movies this way, and it is worth every ounce of hype that it gets.
What a solid enjoyable evening. The orchestra was outstanding and professional. We couldn't ask for a better evening.
My expectation was that this show would be focused on the performance accompanied by clips from the movie. After 10 minutes, it was clear that we would be watching the entire movie, with the orchestra playing along. Don’t get me wrong, the orchestras was fantastic, but there was virtually no focus on them, which was disappointing.
It was FANTASTIC!!! Being right there hearing the music bring Harry Potter ALIVE! My family enjoyed it immensely.
Love Harry Potter, and watching it with a live symphony playing the score was incredible! ***Only thing I would change is putting the back half of the orchestra up on a riser because if you are seated on the floor you can’t see anyone but the violins/cellos playing!! But altogether it was great. I’ll go back.
The closest you can get to seeing a “grand opening” experience again! Everything is perfection from the theater to the symphony to the screen! The symphony was superb and brought the movie to life in a way you just can’t get from watching a recording.
This was beautifully performed! It is such a nice combination of orchestra performance and theater. The memphis symphony orchestra is impressive!
The show was incredible and Memphis Symphony Orchestra was beautiful. My only negative comment was that the theater was really hot. My husband was sweating by the time we left. Perhaps the air could be adjusted for the next show. We are season ticket holders and love coming to the theater. Thank you!
I took my 6 and 8 year old grandsons to this event and could not have been more pleased. The experience exceeded our expectations in every way. The live music integrated seamlessly and magically (pardon the pun) with the movie.
The Memphis Symphony provided the packed house with another amazing performance. The Orpheum/Harry Potter/the Symphony performing live - so unique. This event is now a “must do” for our family as part of the Thanksgiving/Christmas holiday season.
an absolute must for 7-27 year old persons!! My 9 yr old and 28 year old sitter loved it!!
This was an absolutely magical experience!!! If you love Harry Potter or even if you aren’t the biggest fan it’s amazing!!! The movie was played and the symphony played all the music it was interactive they encouraged shouting and clapping for your house or booing to someone you didn’t like. They symphony was so phenomenal I forgot they were playing sometimes!!!! Just overall truly magical and I can’t wait for them to do the third one!!!
Everything about the evening was wonderful. My wife, three year old son, and I sat in the balcony. Great seating, we could see and hear very well. The performance was well done and the sound was balanced well. My son was absolutely riveted by the performers making music to one of his favorite movies. Highly recommend!
The Fort Waye Philharmonic Orchestra performed flawlessly as we watched on the Big Screen! I have never been to a performance like that, and would love to see more! Just Wonderful!
As a music snob, I was highly impressed with the live performance. The music was so spot on that I kept forgetting wasn’t a recording. I hope to attend future events in this series.
We had so much fun, it was just the most magical experience. We loved everything about the event. The Phil sounded great, expertly conductored etc.
My wife and I loved the performance of the Ft Wayne Philharmonic and the Harry Potter movie. The music was superb. Even seated in the back rows of the main floor, we could hear the celesta clearly and the balance with the rest of the orchestra was amazing. The synchronization with the movie was perfect and the ambiance of the Embassy Theatre only added to the magic. I am not a huge Harry Potter fan, and found some of the dialog in the original release hard to follow. I was very happy when the movie began and to my surprise, closed captions were on! It just made the whole experience much more enjoyable. The conductor, before the movie started, informed the audience that this "was not an ordinary Philharmonic performance" and encouraged the audience to respond to the music and the movie -- so the crowd booed and hissed some characters while cheering others on. HOORAY! It made this "old timer's" experience that much more enjoyable!
The movie, of course, was a fun adventure. But even better was the orchestra! Watching them play and hearing their passion for the music was the best. The conductor urged our participation and participate we did! We thoroughly enjoyed our evening! Thank you!
