Chance the Rapper on Tour

A live show from Chance the Rapper is a burst of sheer exuberance. The streaming-generation superstar and his powerhouse band blaze through a discography that's full of signature moments like "Angels," "Blessings" and "Same Drugs," as well as the songs he co-created with Kanye West and DJ Khaled. With a small ensemble of singers giving his set a gospel energy, it's a joyous, explosive performance. Chance originally got his tour legs opening shows on Childish Gambino's 2012 Camp Gambino Tour, but was soon launching treks of his own, including 2013's Social Experiment Tour, 2015's Family Matters Tour, 2016's Magnificent Coloring World Tour and 2017's Be Encouraged Tour. In 2017, Chance hit the festival circuit for a victory lap, appearing at Bonnaroo, Firefly, Hangout, Wireless, Essence Music Festival, Governors Ball, Sasquatch!, Boston Calling and Eaux Claires. That August, he headlined Lollapalooza in his Chicago hometown.

Chance the Rapper in Concert

Beam of hip-hop sunshine Chance the Rapper is one of the greatest independent success stories in the history of popular music — a chart-topping, Grammy-winning, festival-headlining, Saturday Night Live–hosting sensation, all without the help of a traditional record label. Born Chancelor Jonathan Bennett in Chicago, Chance began his rap dreams after hearing fellow Windy City rhymer Kanye West on the radio, and purchasing his debut album in fourth grade. In his senior year of high school he began work on his debut mixtape, 2012's 10 Day — named after he received a 10-day suspension. In 2013, he released the critically acclaimed Acid Rap, ending up on year-end lists for Rolling Stone, Pitchfork and Complex. The following year he turned up on the cover of the XXL Freshmen issue. After his collaborations on Kanye West's The Life of Pablo, Chance released Coloring Book in 2016 — together the two releases garnered him seven Grammy nominations and three wins. His 2017 collaboration with DJ Khaled, Justin Bieber, Lil Wayne and Quavo, "I'm the One" was the No. 1 song in the country. After years of conquering the industry with downloadable and streaming mixtapes, he finally released a traditional retail album, The Big Day, in 2019.

Chance the Rapper made The Special Olympics Proud!

by 5hams on 7/25/18Huntington Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island - Chicago

Northerly Island is such a great venue. We were in the Pit and you could touch the stage if you wanted. The whole lineup was fantastic. Chance’s new album is amazing.

Chance the Rapper was a let down

by jeffymusic on 7/24/18Huntington Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island - Chicago

The special olympics event was poorly coordinated with each artist playing for too short of a time. Staff was unexpectedly rude at this event, and the artists were very quiet. Sound production poor.

    Great job

by Folkwinter on 7/24/18Huntington Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island - Chicago

Chance put on a wonderful show. I was impressed with his performance. Usher and Francis and the Lights both also put on a fantastic show as well. Jason Mraz was awful and I like a lot of his music. Smokey Robinson was fun to see as well.

Venue a hit, artist choice not so much.

by WillyB12245 on 7/24/18Huntington Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island - Chicago

The venue was perfect albeit rainy day. The one headliner ( Chance ) was a poor choice as the feature. His music was disconnected from the overall message and seemed offensive in certain regards for the positive message that was present with the other artist. Not impressed with him in the slightest.

The 50 year celebration of Special Olympics is something I will remember forever! It was so beautifully put together and touching to see so many Special Olympians and so many supporters join in unity for the Inclusion Revolution. I loved this event and am so happy I got to participate.

by ktflannery on 10/9/17Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

He's so talented! I brought my teenaged daughters and their friends because they are huge fans and I can see why. He is smart, funny and has an amazing voice. His band and back up vocals were so beautiful! People of all ages and races were entertained by this incredible show. Don't let the moniker "rapper" fool you!

    disappointment

    by ChanceFan39 on 10/8/17Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

very bummed. He was dwarfed by the vast size of the stage, even the cheesy pyrotechnics couldn't save the weak production value. Lot's of our favorite songs were only performed for about a minute. The show was hijacked by a live Facebook feed to support P.R. Im down for helping others but wasn't in the spirit for a telethon.

    Chance The Rapper is amazing!

    by QueenC90 on 10/8/17Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

The Hollywood Bowl never disappoints, and Chance The Rapper delivered as well. The show started on time, the opening act was pretty legit, and Chance performed all of my favorites. And to top off everything, Chance live streamed the show for free in order to raise funds for hurricane relief in Puerto Rico.

    by GMoney310 on 10/8/17Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

Our night at the Hollywood Bowl was the night that Chance did a live stream for hurricane relief. He did a masterful job of keeping those in the audience & those at home on a journey. Great time for old and new fans alike.
