We had a blast at the OSU vs Michigan wrestling dual. After the dual, my husband and son were able to meet some of the michigan wrestlers (the OSU wrestlers wrestled then never came back out). The new Covelli Center in Columbus is beautiful. Everything went smoothly (fyi....they don't allow big purses in the covelli center).
Its funny any other venue you go to has a concession stand, but at ohio state..if you not selling drinks, let the people bring there own in a unopen plastic bottle...tge venue was fantastic.
Electric atmosphere, great crowd. An amazing venue to watch college wrestling.
Had a blast taking my sons and husband to an Ohio state wrestling meet- I was concerned because I didn’t have a good idea of what the seats were like in the center. But we were happy with them! Parking was a nightmare- we parked a 10 minute walk away and it took us 30 minutes to get out after the meet- but the facilities are first class! My kids were excited about the free refills for souvenir cups! :) We will be back!
Ticketmaster was very helpful with rntire experience
Very much wanted to see the Covelli Center in all it's newness, and was not disappointed! Great Facility for viewing and will be sure to return! Do not care for the Ticketmaster service charge, but I suppose that is the cost of convenience. Would also have wanted, to view the wrestling room and entire facility but also understand that on event day , that is just not possible. Parking was close and convenient and it was an easy in and out! Overall terrific experience!
Only negative thing was the bleacher seats were very small
It was great to see all of the talented wrestlers from Penn State come to St. John's Arena and perform as well as they did in a tough environment like Ohio State. I thought it would have been closer to be honest.
I must admit aside from my team winning the meet, I was very pleased with the ease of obtaining tickets, parking, ease of mobile entry and finding decent general admission seats. The only negative was waiting to getting to parking! Probably because there was a Taylor Swift concert adjacent to our venue. Also Big Ten basketball that nite. Overall a very positive experience.
OSU knows how to treat its fans. Even with a record setting crowd the lines were moving.
The arena is great, it's general admission up stairs but get there early and that's not a problem. Great seat anywhere in the place.
Always great to see the top two power houses in the sport going head to head. Great time
The Ohio State wrestling team is over rated this year. A number 2 team in the country. Should have not got there butt whipped like that. It should have been a close match. The Buckeyes were beat before they walk on the floor. They played defense no offense and got there butt kick. Couches did not have them ready
Great team duel I bought the 3rd period package that was only a dollar extra included a hot dog and a pull out banner. Great deal
This was a great experience being up close and personal with The Ohio State wrestlers. My son loved meeting the wrestlers afterwards and getting pictures!
Overall great experience except for being sat in the wrong area by the usher then having to move to awful seats.....
My opinion of watching the match live and in person is much different than my wife. She say it is not worth the drive, waiting in line to get in, rushing to get to a seat because of general seating, and then still be in her opinion too far from the mat. She says "I do not have to get dressed to go out and can see the match better on TV."
Great atmosphere, great wrestling and most importantly a great win.
The meet itself was definitely entertaining and wrestlers on both teams were beasts. (Urban Myers even popped in!) I'm an OSU alum. My boyfriend is from Iowa and wrestled for 10 years. Iowa is a wrestling state (football and basketball are secondary), so this was a HUGE deal for us and OSU needed redemption for that spanking Iowa gave us in football this past fall. I hadn't seen OSU wrestle in 29 years, so things have definitely changed. Last meet I attended only had a couple of hundred fans. This meet had over 15k! It was awesome! Our very first time at the Schottenstein Center. Arrived 1.5 hrs before meet so we can park close to facility as I just had leg surgery, but parking was already full. So we had to park out in the Buckeye Lot. However, I do believe this may have been the better choice as we were able to hop right on the shuttle and were dropped off within minutes at the entrance. Then when we left, we hopped right on the bus and was at our car in just a couple of minutes. Then we just pulled right out of the lot with very little wait at all and were on our way home to Dayton (and we stayed to the end of the meet...we did not leave early!). So I believe we'll park there for any future events at The Schott. It's definitely the way to get there and back! Very minimal walking! Seats were not cramped and very comfortable. I'm a big woman, so this is very important for all of those around me. (haha) Plus I needed to be able to extend the leg in which I just had surgery. The only negative I might add is not all concession stands on our level were open, so there was a bit of walking to get to the food; which took time away from watching the meet. And the food prices were outrageous (compared to other stadiums and concert halls I attend in Cincy and Dayton). But, I did like the fact that they did offer healthy alternatives, like veggies and hummus and vegetarian subs. I definitely liked The Schott much better than Nationwide Arena. Will definitely start looking at this venue for more events.
