This was not a good event. It was boring needed better fighters.
The show started at 8:00pm, an hour late. It was probably good for alcohol sales though but I don't drink. Music was turned up to the point of distortion for the 1.5 hours before the fights finally stated. I brought my brother and my 10 year old nephew and we sat 2nd row ringside. We had to ask (actually shout) 4 or 5 times because people that were part of the production would stop and stand in your way to the point that you had to watch the big screen on the other side of the arena. AOF 11 started about an hour late too. I'm not to sure I'll go to AOF13. Maybe if I wear ear plugs and show up an hour late I'll try it one more time. You asked!
Great crowd, got some chants going...J- Killa looked like a juggernaut...Geanne transitioned from one submission to another, very cool...smokin hot ringgirls....hot babes galore in the crowd....good security...they need a new PA system with clarion audio and pamphlets with the fighters names, schools, weights, styles, and hometown.etc. overall a very action-packed night with tight strikes and subs!!!!
This show was an OBVIOUS "want to be" UFC calliber type fight, however it was very very poorly put together. The show started over an hour of the stated start time.....there was no instant replay of tap outs or knock outs....the refs did not break up the fighters as quickly as he should have.....the announcer was wearing a suit...and converse....after each fight was over the fight's promoter would ask the winner of the fight a number of dumb questions catered more towards smack talk type answers of WWE or RAW...... Just all around not professionally handled. I may try another show when it gets up to around "The Art of Fighting 300" when these guys get more practice in actually running a well put together show.
There was definitely no need to beat the crowd and you could walk right in without having to wait in line, so that's a plus. The doors were schedule to open @ 6:00 pm and the event set to start at 7:00 pm. They did indeed open at 6, but absolutely nothing happened until 7:45 when the main card line up was announced. After the undercards finally began a little after 8:00 pm. There is no preshow entertaiment, no meet and greet with the fighters, and only over priced concessions available to consume. So, make sure to have a friend along to pass the time with if you arrive early. Because only a small section of the arena was sold it meant the 2/3 of the arena was empty and the sound engineers did not take this into account when setting up the microphones. Due to the echoing off of all that open concrete the ring announcer and post fight interviews were utterly meaningless. You simply could not decipher what was being said. The fights were entertaining for the most part--two of the eight really stood out as excellent fights. One, the fourth and last fight of the undercard was easily the fight of the night and the 1/3 of the arena was electric with excitement. The second fight, the headliner, was also very enjoyable. Unfortunately the three fights between the fight of the night and the headliner left a lot to be desired. If there was some sort of entertainment available for the 2+ hours prior to the show starting, or if it had started as advertised, I would have rated it higher, perhaps three stars. Couple that with some better sound boarding so we could understand what was being said and who was fighting and I would have definitely rated this 4 stars. But, it is what it was.
This event was horrible. I was supposed to sit in Club Seats section 114, row b, seats 17 & 18. They closed the club section down and issued us different seating that was not comparable at all. Section 102, row S, seats 3 & 4 (two seats away from the very end curtain). I may as well have been in the back room. The event was supposed to start at 7 but it didn't start until 8 and should have ended at 10 but didn't end until 11. They were not organized at all. I can not believe I paid money for this...especially after hearing that they gave away 700 free tickets. I was very, very disappointed.
I went to Art of Fighting 10 at Germain Arena and this was by far the BEST live show I have ever been to!!! I paid $60 to sit on the floor and was right up in the action, the fights were all amazing and I was blown away at how much talent Art of Fighting has on its fight card. My only complaint was that the arena was cold, but hey its a hockey rink. All in all this was an unforgettable experience, so much so I felt the need to write about it, thanks AOF and I will see you at the next one!!!
USF Sundome good all around fights, my only complaint is the food at the sundome is not good and made me a bit sickly at the end of the night. But from what i understand it has nothing to do with AOF great show my girlfriend is buying tickts to AOF 11 in Tampa
This is the 3rd time that I have been to an AOF event and it seems to get better everytime I go! I bought tix to this event for my boyfriend for Christmas and he was VERY happy :)
Amaya and Sugimoto were awesome. The Ref did a good job. The fighting we well organized and continous. Most fighters put on a good show.
The event stated off late and a little slow but being my first one ... Outstanding, the action was right up in your face being in the from row, can't wait for AOF 11 in Tampa next Feb.
