About

Arnel Pineda in Concert

Arnel Pineda is blessed with a larger-than-life voice that's tailor-made for the grand-scale arena rock he belts out as the lead singer for Journey. From the time he first toured with the band in 2008, it was clear that he could command a huge venue and capture the attention of a big crowd. With a voice not dissimilar to that of his legendary predecessor, Steve Perry, but still bearing its own distinctive quality, Pineda managed to win the hearts of Journey fans everywhere (no easy task to accomplish). In his solo concerts he shows off the range of his abilities, leaving the Journey tunes for his tours with the band; instead, he brings his superhuman voice to classic-rock covers by the likes of Rush, Bon Jovi, Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin, as well his own material.

Arnel Pineda Background

Arnel Pineda became known to millions when he became the frontman for Journey in 2007, but that wasn't the beginning of his story. Born in Manila, Pineda grew up poor and started scraping out a living as a singer when he was just 15 years old. As a young man he sang for a succession of bands in the Philippines, beginning to attract attention in the late 1980s. In 1999 he signed a solo deal with Warner Bros and released his self-titled debut album, boosting his profile in his homeland. He was singing with a band called Zoo in 2007 when an event occurred that would change his life forever: a YouTube clip of Pineda performing Journey's "Faithfully" was viewed by Journey guitarist Neal Schon, who happened to be searching desperately for Journey's next vocalist. Pineda got the call to come to America and audition. He ended up blowing the band members away and becoming Journey's new singer. Pineda's presence helped revitalize the band, first on a 2008 tour and then on Revelation, a record that hit No. 5 on the Billboard 200 that went platinum. Though Pineda remained busy with Journey after that, he released his second solo album, AP, in 2016, reaffirming his musical identity outside of the group.

    Too many guests performer.

by Ulyn on 9/20/21Sams Town Live - Las Vegas

There was just so much guest performers, I think at least 5 of them. It was a very typical Filipino concert. They need to limit guest performers coz it was getting very boring.

    Arnel Pineda, an Amazing singer/performer

    by LnS4evermylove on 12/19/17Neal S Blaisdell Arena - Honolulu

He sang songs from the Beatles, AC/DC, Van Halen & Elvis Presley to name a few. He was true to himself and sang at least 2 original songs & at least 3 others in Tagalog, I didn't understand the songs but from the looks of everyone else who knew the songs, they were singing & dancing along & totally enjoying themselves. I would definitely go to another Arnel Pineda concert.

Arnel Pineda has an incredible voice and can sing anything. He also entertains you the entire time with very little breaks in his performance. Boundless energy, you need to see him.

    Was good.

    by Mahiko7 on 12/19/17Neal S Blaisdell Arena - Honolulu

Was pretty good show but arena was extremely empty. Since it was empty, wifey and I could dance it up without shame. But I think most ppl knew he wasn't going to sing any if his Journey songs. Sheesh, had I known that, I probably wouldn't have gone myself...
