Arizona Diamondbacks History
The Arizona Diamondbacks joined the MLB in 1998 and quickly became a formidable force in the sport; to date, they are the youngest team to win a World Series, having accomplished the feat in 2001 just four years after their debut. Competing in the National League West Division, the team have played home games at Chase Field in downtown Phoenix since their inaugural season. The Diamondbacks appeared in the postseason in 1999, 2001, 2002, 2007, 2011, 2017, and 2023, the last of which included a World Series run.
Seven Diamondbacks have been inducted into the Arizona Sports Hall of Fame, with pitcher Randy Johnson also a member of the National Baseball Hall of Fame. The Diamondbacks’ home of Chase Field features a retractable roof and swimming pool adjacent to the field, offering one of the most unique game-day atmospheres in all of baseball. Through the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation, they’ve contributed over $100 million to initiatives around the unhoused, healthcare, children’s programs, veterans, and first responders in the Arizona community.
