About

Currently in the midst of a massive tour encompassing the USA, Russia, Europe and the UK, modernist pop quintet Architecture in Helsinki are thrilled to announce their most extensive Australian tour in years. After stunning crowds on the Groovin' The Moo tour and a brief run of headline dates in May, including a dazzling show at the Opera House as part of Vivid, AIH will be trekking across Australia over August and September.

The band's second single Escapee has just been released from their pop opus ‘Moment Bends', accompanied by a beautiful video directed by Marcus Soderlund (The XX, Miike Snow) in Belgium. As effortless and infectious as a pop song can be, Escapee was the last track written and recorded during the albums' two year gestation. Frontman Cameron Bird says, "Sometimes songs happen in 10 minutes like some sort of crazy chemical reaction, 'Escapee' was as instantaneous and un-complicated as songs happen in our world. Probably why it still makes me feel so good when I hear it!".

Supported by triple j and Channel [V], the tour will see the band hitting up most capital cities, along with rare performancesin Cairns, Wollongong, and Newcastle. Don't miss this chance to see why the world's falling in love with ‘Moment Bends' and Architecture in Helsinki's transcendently joyous live shows.

AiH - Better than I ever could have expected

by RansomM on 6/15/11Paradise Rock Club - Boston

I don't speak lightly when I say AiH is probably the best live band I've ever seen. They played at paradise rock club, I believe sold out the place, and had every person in the 904-cap room dancing pretty much the entire show. Any doubts I'd had about their new release, Moment Bends, was dispelled after I heard a few of these songs live. I had been a big fan of Fingers Crossed/Places Like This for years now, and wasn't sure of what to think of Red Turned White and Moment Bends, but their show convinced me that Moment Bends is their best album. ALSO, in addition to dancing the whole show with some actually decently choreographed moves, they brought out a Bruins cake for all the hockey fans in the crowd, and gave it out to people in the front. AND one of the members of the opening act [successfully!!] proposed to his girlfriend at the end of their set!! All in all, it was an unforgettable night, and I am planning to buy tickets for their November show at Paradise as soon as they go on sale!

Sweaty, happy and covered in cupcake frosting

by mysocksarepink on 6/15/11Paradise Rock Club - Boston

Architecture in Helsinki, as always, put on a fantastic show. Slightly lower energy from both the band and the audience at first, but I figured that was thanks to it being a Monday show. Also, far fewer random instruments onstage. There was nearly a food fight after Cameron brought out cupcakes decorated for the Boston Bruins. All in all, a fun, upbeat, excellent show. :)

    Amazing!

by hatter2011 on 6/15/11Paradise Rock Club - Boston

I saw AIH about 6 or 7 years ago in Boston and hyped the show to a lot of my friends as one of the best of my life. Then I got girlfriend who want quite crazy about my taste in music. I told her she needs to see this show and hyped it for about 2 months.... IT WAS INCREDIBLE! The band performed SO well and the crowd was SO great, which you rarely see in Boston, it just made for an outstanding show! I will see AIH anytime they are back in Boston, ESPECIALLY if its at the Paradise!

    Awesome Show- Terrible Crowd

by awkwardcarl on 6/6/11Wonder Ballroom - Portland

Architecture in Helsinki put on an amazing show, truly unforgettable! Even though they came on late, they got into it right away and had a great set. There was a good mix between their new album and the fan favorites, that people called out through the show. However, that being said, the Wonder Ballroom definitely could have taken some steps to making the show more enjoyable for the audience. There were copious amounts of drugs being used in the audience, which made people very unaware of personal space and very, very sweaty. There was also some moshing which really made no sense, considering the band playing. It was just a pain that a small minority had to make the show very uncomfortable and less enjoyable for the majority.

Architecture in Helsinki played a wonderfully delightful show. I have always loved their music and they delivered a funfilled, energetic performance. They played our favorite songs and their set list was a splendid mix of old and new material.Their live performance was as brilliantly crafted as the songs they have created. I left the show with overwhelming feelings of joy and inspiration. It was a remarkable show, thank you Architecture in Helsinki!

Fun and Quirky Band, Even Better Live!

by johnwatersfan on 6/3/11The Music Box - Hollywood

I can't believe nobody has reviewed this band. I've had the pleasure of seeing them twice, once at the Showbox in Seattle a few years ago, and now at The Music Box in LA. Despite the fact that they don't have as large as following as some indie bands, the band really gives their performance their all, with several of the bandmembers switching instruments, vocals, and dancing. They are a lot of fun to see live, and their music is great to dance to or just bob your head to depending on who you are. Their latest album is quite a bit more danceable, rather than all out quirky like their previous albums, which I think help diversified their performance from the first time I saw them. I would give them one more star if it wasn't for their horrendous tee shirt designs. It was a bit of let down to see my purchasing selections. I didn't get one.

Architecture In Helsinki --- Just WOW!

by HavenlyMomma on 6/3/11The Music Box - Hollywood

I have never been to a show as enjoyable as AIH at The Music Box! The venue was perfect, the staff friendly, & the bathroom was clean (always a plus!). Architecture In Helsinki rocked! The perfect mix of fast & slow, great interaction with the audience, & a super groovy encore!!! Normally, bands are better on cd than live, but not so with AIH --- their show was incredible live!
