BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Baltimore, MD-born Anthony Jamar Brown was raised with a strong foundation in both music and the church – his father is a pastor and both parents are musicians. He grew up playing the piano and singing during services, and in 2000 he formed the group Answered Prayers to showcase his growing interest in songwriting and arranging. Brown spent much of the '00s contributing to albums by gospel notables like Maurette Brown-Clark and Stephen A. Hurd, and in 2012 he and his backing band, which by then had been rechristened Group Therapy, released their debut LP. The self-titled album was a success, landing at No. 3 on the Gospel chart and reaching the Top 20 on the Indie chart. Brown's experience as a worship leader served him well on tour, and his ability to uplift audiences quickly earned him a reputation as a powerhouse performer. His rise continued in 2015 with his sophomore album Everyday Jesus, a No. 1 hit on the Gospel charts that also earned the group a whopping 10 Stellar Gospel Music awards.
